I've always like Star Trek. From the movies to the shows. But it always seemed like low tech Sci-Fi if you know what I mean.
Finally we get a Star Trek that catches up with times. So long as the movie still has the basic values and concept of what Star Trek is.
Paramount is obviously completely redoing Star Trek. Its good for the franchise. Little kids are gonna like this alot more than Star Wars. So will teenagers and adults in their 20's & 30's.
But the middle aged ones,

Yes, because cheap sets and corny effects would be a great way to revitalize Trek.
Still, Trek had it's VERY high point in the late 90's with DS9 (Best Trek show EVER) I mean, it had a 4 season long war with a race called the Dominion. What more could you want?! LOL
