  • Well, I think you are a fool. Telling people not to vote 3rd party because their candidate doesn't have a chance to win? Wow... yep if ya never vote for them... they won't win.

  • I'd rather 'waste' my vote on a libertarian than go against my belief of voting for more corporate bankers/politicians. McCain would have been a better president, not much better, but who knows. If it were Ron Paul in the white house right now, GM, AIG, and many others would be bankrupt..as they should be in a capitalist society; bankruptcy is a crucial part of capitalism. If a business fails it leaves an opening for new ingenuity to take its place, that's the American way.

  • HAHAHA! Don't you feel like a fool now? You voted for Obama and all he gave you was more of the same. Wars, corporate bailouts, huge handouts to insurance companies, etc. Hell, his administration pics are filled with goldman sachs' scum and banker cronies. Way to waist your vote!

  • the problems with dems and repubs are that they are CORPORATE-COTROLLED. Greens don't acept corporate money.

  • fuck yeah go greens

  • yeah, people like this guy on this video will eventually become the minority, OBama is selling us out and people are seeing this. If Obama loses in 2012, it is HIS fault, regardless of any third party totals.

  • Your "learned helplessness" comment is offensive, please read up on history. Third parties have done a good job of bringing issues to light that the two main parties have not done. And please stop stereotyping, I am not a Ron Paul supporter. Obama had been pres for almost a year, he has kept us in Iraq and Afghanistan, he bailed out in single payer. You are voting for Obama because of his image, he makes you feel warm and fuzzy, seriously, read up on third party history!

  • Technically, our government is dependant greatly on having only 2 "major" parties. To be elected president one must have the majority (50%+). Having an equally strong third party takes everything out of wack. It gives everyone less chance of having the majority as the U.S will be split into 3 (~33%). And if no one has the majority then SOL. I'm sure there's a purpose to why the founding fathers set this up.

  • it was never meant for there to be just two parties, some of the founding fathers were setting up other parties, and if you look at the times during the Civil War, the anti-Slavery Party clocked in a half of a percent. Abolitionists were hated at the time, but I think looking back now, we would say that it was NOT a wasted effort.

  • Well I guess I'm a fool. Still think there is any real difference between the two, Bob?

  • Well, It should be obvious , had we voted for Nader, who represents, our collective interests, instead of Barrack, we would already be better off. When will you people figure it out........you been had again!

  • Hahaha americans can choose between aids and cancer when it comes to politics!

  • thats a bit harsh. its more like getting one of those treatable STDs every four years.

  • btw the republican party was third party once.

    So was the Democratic.

Third parties can win, they just take a long while to get to the top.

    US history for the win.

  • I voted 3rd party with Brian Moore.

Lesser of 2 evils, still leaves you with 2 manipulators.

You're wrong metabob, see the world as it should be, not how it is.

  • well

why can't you see it both ways

take in the bad, and figure out how to make it better

but I get what you mean

  • It took you over 9 minutes to explain and support the cowardly "lesser of two evils" concept? For all of you Obama lemmings who continue to support the media's candidate that has been chosen for you, YOU are the problem. Obama takes learned helplessness to a whole new level. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to go out and chant "yes we can" and cry on the shoulders

    of complete strangers.

  • you think McCain could be a better president? Guess we'll never know!

  • Nader is simply pointing out the corruption that has been documented with Obama. You are just not choosing to accept it.

Isn't that what you say about Bush supporters? Obama considers the constitution an obstacle to redistribution.

I wish Obama wasn't steered by Brezinski and the CFR. This election wouldn't have turned so depressing if that weren't true.

3rd party - mine is the constitution. Wouldn't you like to find out what happened with bldg. #7 on 9/11/01?

  • I must be a fool. So how are McCain and Obama different?

-They both have an interventionist foreign policy. Ok so Obama wants to reduce troops in Iraq and move them to Afghanistan. Where McInsane wants to Bomb, Bomb, Iran and maybe Georgia possibly provoking a confrontation with the Russians.

-They both say they want to cut taxes. Sure they differ on who has to pay less tax. But did you hear either of them offer up where they're going to cut spending to make up for the lost tax revenue?

  • That is assuming they weren't already spending vastly more than they collect in taxes.

This leads me to spending. They both want bigger more intrusive government. The difference? Obama wants more.

Ah the whole prochoice/prolife fraud. That is one major difference but, it's not relevant at the federal level. Show me where does the constitution grant the federal government authority to deal with anything close to abortion? Anyone who votes the lesser of two evils is a fool unless you want evil

  • read my bottom post first

  • Einsteins definition of Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

You are insane to think that a Rep or Dem is going to make a difference.

If a third party gets 6% of the popular vote, they will receive tax funding towards the next election. Bringing a third party into the mix would change the face of American politics, and it can only be for the better.

    VOTE THIRD PARTY!!

  • ahh damn, didn't it used to be 5%?

    hooray for bob barr.

  • Thats what I thought but someone on youtube told me I was wrong. Prob shouldn't have listened to them.

    Go Bob Barr!!

  • some people are nuts. i voted for bob barr today, and my friends nearly killed me.

    "what a wasted vote!"

    "you're just a republican!"

"libertarians aren't going to do anything!"

    *sigh*

i'm pretty glad obama won, though. he had barr's support too.

  • A lot of NOTHING.

  • I disagree with you profoundly, and here are some reasons.

    1. You adopt a very insulting tone, condescending to TELL third party voters WHY they will vote, which is a ludicrous proposition.

    2. You make many assertions here, without providing any evidence. How is it objective that obama is better than mccain? Again, a ludicrous assertion to make.

  • obama and mccain ARE the same. They both want to attack Pakistan, a nation with nuclear capabilities, (and whose enemy we are dealing nukes with).

They both refuse to acknowledge that Iran and Venezuela are legitimate countries, with democratically elected leaders. Even if obama only institutes sanctions again Iran, the intent is clear.

The both supported the "bail-out" plan. They both express themselves in mainstream rhetoric, which is frighteningly similar to Newspeak.

  • I am going to vote for Nader, probably, I legitimately think he is the best and most qualified candidate. I don't care whether he has a chance of being elected, I'm just not scared of mccain. It's really awful to suggest that we should choose between two candidates we find morally repugnant, just because they are the only realistic choices. As George Carlin put it, "You don't have choice, you have owners, they own you, they own everything".

  • Ultimately, when it comes down to it, no President has the power to act outside of complicity with the massive economic and political systems which control our lives, and ultimately, pose the greatest threat to liberty.

    Peace and chicken grease

  • Your an idiot. You didn't even answer the question in the title of this post. Do you listen to the crap coming out of your mouth after recording it?

  • the lesser of two evils is still evil and the enemy of my enemy is not my friend vote libertarian

  • I know that bob dosn't have a very good chance of winning but I will vote my values thats all! not for who has a higher chances of winning

  • people, the choice is simple..stand behind the canidate that shares your values..if you value the constitution, the bill of rights and your sick of corporate elites making us slaves and stealing our money, vote for a 3rd party..i wouldnt vote for "KNOWN" corporate puppets i dont care what anyone says..we the people are sick of our country going to shit.

"I was not born republican, democrat or yesterday" if everyone buys into the "wasted vote" nonsence, nothing will change..STAND UP for our rights!!!

  • McCain and Obama hardly ever mention the Constitution. I'm voting Bob Barr. Otherwise I wouldnt vote at all.. That way I wont be taking away votes from one of the other two evils. If every American thought this way, we might get something done. Thanks to the DOE, I cant blame you for being stupid. Just my $0.02. And you know what two pennies are worth these days?

  • chad u r so far from enlightenment its not even funny,

u might as well die, anger managment and electrotheraphy might be your only hope on earth. You are the reason the world is fucked.

  • Where do you get that idea? I probably know more than your bitch ass. I'm studying political science right now, and I have my reasons why Obama's a piece of shit and they got nothing to do with him being a racist nigger. Have fun paying %50 of your taxes so he can implement global socialism ya dumb shit

  • that's wat you are too mothafucka. I can't stand stupid ass racists like you

  • I happen to be a Ron Paul supporter (or maniac as you call us) as I am a libertarian-leaning Republican. Since Ron Paul is no longer in the race, I have NO CHOICE but to vote for Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party. Neither McCain nor Obama come close to being anywhere near libertarian or traditionally conservative.

As such, I have to listen to the asshole neoconservatives destroying my party telling me I'm gonna make McCain lose. McCain is gonna lose because he is a shitty candidate!

  • Actually you do have a choice! Vote like Ron Paul will... Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party.

Ron Paul just finished endorsing him and the CP!

  • I'm aware that Ron Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin. I happen to like Bob Barr more. Plus, Bob Barr is on 45 states ballots. Chuck Baldwin is only on 35 state ballots (he's not on my state's ballot). And I'm not going to write-in Chuck Baldwin. If I was going to write somebody in, I'd just write-in Ron Paul. Be happy I'm not pissing my vote away on the liberals leaning-socialist McCain and Obama.

  • if anybody really gave a shit about this country it would be Ron Paul versus Dennis Kucinich. the problem in this country is nobody pays attention to the issues. everybody treats the elections like a fucking high school popularity contest, and votes for whomever the media creates as the front-runners.

people say a 3rd party vote is a wasted vote, i consider a vote for mccain or obama to be a wasted vote.

i'll be voting for BOB BARR of the LIBERTARIAN PARTY...be happy im not voting mccain!

  • fucking metabitch going for that racist nigger obama. Fuck that guy, he's a fucking hater

  • back during the primaries, I took one of those position questionnaires....my closest candidate of agreement was Kucinich...then for fun I went through and answered the opposite on everything I believe, and my anticandidate of least choice was Brownback.

  • That test is very biased. Only gives you maybe two options usually. Worst political test ever.

  • Actually, I just took the test in his link and I came up with Ralph Nader, which at first I thought was surprising until I actually read his positions and realized that it was actually pretty spot-on (I'm not going to vote for him, but still). So I think this test is actually one of less biased ones.

  • so this "test" you took. You agree we need to increase military budget? Keep a large amount of troops and "contractors" in Iraq? Obama has said this on national TV. Look at his record thats what counts. He voted yes on the bailout, yes on FISA, yes on war appropriations, yes to the patriot act. If in good concience you would vote for those then by all means vote for obama. If you lived in 1900 would you vote for the candidate that would win? or Eugene V. Debs who was for woman's right to vote?

  • Agreed, I'm voting Obama because I have the least disagreements with his position, and b/c the system prevents third parties from getting fair treatment for now, so Nader and McKinney are not viable candidates. But it's not just a matter of thinking Obama might change his position. I have problems with Obama's positions, drawing out the war in Afghanistan, threatening to leak into Cambodia, I mean Pakistan, waffling on FISA, etc.

  • I checked it out; here's my results:

    Barack Obama: 68%

    Ralph Nader: 66%

    John McCain: 41%

    Stephen Colbert: 22%

  • I got Obama 52% and McCain 46%. Sorry, neither one really dazzles me. This is what's wrong with our two party system. We need INSTANT RUNOFF VOTING so someone who can really do something meaningful can be taken seriously.

  • I think you drove your point well... "Power corrupts" If there's a 'third' party.. it'll just be 'another' party.

  • I got Nader at 73%, however I will still be voting for Obama.

  • I feel I should elaborate a bit. If you notice I only got 73% for Nader leaving plenty of room for issues that I would disagree with him on. If this wasn't such a critical time than I might consider voting 3rd party, but there is NO way I'm going to let the likes of McCain/Palin getting into the Whitehouse. Let's face it, when you're voting 3rd party you're basically throwing your vote away, and also giving McCain a chance to win. Obama isn't exactly my dream candidate, but he'll do.

  • Christopher Dodd was my top candidate at 68%

  • Can someone please tell me the REAL difference between McCain and Obama? The both are going to increase the federal budget by at least $100 billion and both are going to increase the national debt by at least $200 billion per year. Both support the bailout, both support FISA. I guess their only difference are their foreign policies. McCain wants to stay in Iraq and invade Iran. Obama wanted to withdraw from Iraq and invade Pakistan. Now you wonder why I'm voting 3rd party!

  • Would have been much easier just to sign up then - you could have sub'd and kept track of TAA's videos, and others. I'm glad TAA supports Obama, but not even he knows why. He was a Rob Paul supporter, and Ron Paul has VERY conservative values. If TAA knew his a**hole from a hole in the ground, he would probably support McCain.

  • i like Obama but he's got too many ties with insurance companies for me to fully trust him.

  • You signed up to youtube and then favorited and old video from the amazing atheist? You found it very quickly!

  • I think you should choose your words more carefully. Calling someone a fool for disagreeing with you is a bit close minded.

Imagine you took the test and had a third party candidate matched at 95% while the two major party candidates were less than 50% but within 5% of each other. This is not hypothetical, these were my results.

Do you think its reasonable voting for the candidate I believe in or hedging my bets? Corruption is a red herring. The end result is not whats on my mind.

  • I think it's biased towards Obama 2. Barack Obama (87%) 3.Christopher Dodd (endorsed Obama) (80%) 4.Joseph Biden (withdrawn) (77%) 5.Ralph Nader (76%) 6.Michael Bloomberg (says he will not run) (75%) 7.Dennis Kucinich (withdrawn) (75%) 8.Hillary Clinton (defeated, endorsed Obama) (70%) 9.John Edwards (withdrawn) (70%) 10 Wesley Clark (not running, endorsed Clinton) (69%) 13.Mike Gravel (withdrawn) (62%)
  • jackadamo!!!

  • i don't agree with you but i see what you are saying. by the way thank you for the link i was curious to take that quiz myself.

  • I don't vote out of fear or to send a message. i vote for a the candidate that represents my ideals. That's why i will be voting for Nader. sometimes its not about voting for the person you think will win its about not selling yourself out, and not feeling sick after you vote.

  • I also don't vote out of fear or to send a message too. But the choice is going to be that if people don't vote Obama, who represents my ideals a whole lot better then McCain, should get my vote over a person who doesn't win. That's like voting for your favorite person, but in turn the guy you really hate gets voted in because you don't vote your ideals. It's not about selling yourself out, it's making a rational commitment to settle for better instead of pushing for best and getting worse.

  • I'd vote for Obama if I felt he was sincere about what he says, but I have a very strong feeling in the background of my mind that he is disingenuous. He comes across as someone that makes choices for political favor rather than personal conviction. I can't put my faith in someone that doesn't have a backbone.

  • Good video, solid points, metabob.

    I scored: 1. Ideal (100%), 2. Obama (86%), 3. Kucinich (81%), 4. Nader (79%), ... 16. R.Paul (44%), 18. McCain (36%). Seems there is enough difference between the two actual candidates to be concerned with.

  • If they cannot bring themselves to vote for a democrat I'd rather they didn't vote for McCain and pick a third party instead.

  • You're foolish if you think that your vote will effect the result of the election.

I'll vote for who agrees with me on the most issues. If every American had this mentality, our leaders would actually represent our views. And with any luck, we would be able to get rid of the ridiculous two party system.

  • Metabob:

If people think that Nader is better than either McCain or Obama then they are foolish NOT to vote for him. That is why the two party system never opens itself up to IRV. It doesn't have to.

If you vote for Obama because you think he's the best candidate, great. However, if your decision comes from fear of alternatives, then you are a slave instead of a citizen.

  • I totally agree with you. There's no way that a third party candidate is going to win this election, so voting for one is sending a message; regardless of whether or not the voter thinks that third party candidate would make a better President.

But it would be a travesty of freedom for America to vote McCain/Palin into office.

  • Obama is going to win. The economic problems are only going to remain the same or worsen in the next month. That's death for McCain in this election. Thank Bush for that.

  • The idea is this: If enough people vote 3rd party, maybe one day we will have more than a 2 party system.

  • YAY someone gets it!!!!

  • Exactly. And we need instant runoff voting so 3rd parties will be taken seriously.

  • I gave up after 1 min, but I bet it's a no.

  • I'm a Libertarian (card carrying). Basically, I'm a Barry Goldwater fiscal conservative and social liberal. However, I fully understand what you are saying. Bob Barr will not be elected. None of us think that.

Also, we are QUITE aware that this is a two party system. Do you know how fucking hard we have to work to get on the ballot?

Basically, what Libertarians are trying to do is send a message to the Republican party and wrestle it back out of the hands of the TheoCons and NeoCons.

  • It would be better to have a more democratic system with more choices, but Obama is In My Humble Opinion the best choice in the current field of candidates.

  • It's not a matter of sending a message or anything. You search for the BEST (in your opinion) candidate, and even if he has NO chance of winning, you should vote THIS candidate... otherwise you are either a hypoctire, or a person so insecure that will vote only someone that may win...

  • It's a two party system. You have to vote for one of them.

If you want to vote for a third party candidate go ahead throw your vote away. HAHAHAHAHA

  • Your total lack of anything intelligent to say is staggering. All Piro or I want to know is why is voting third party ALWAYS a wise choice? You can't seem to answer this, and instead you feel the need to act like a 12 year old.

  • i simply gave my opinion, if you don't like it, don't listen.

go to your local ARMY recruiter, i'm sure they can answer all your questions.

  • You don't seem to understand that voting for someone just because they're in a third party is no different than voting rep or dem every time for no reason. Just because someone is 3rd party does not automatically mean they represent the interests of every individual. You shouldn't vote based on the party, you should vote based on the the issues at hand. Are you thinking this through at all? You're acting no different than someone who votes rep exclusively based on religious belief.

  • I'm not opposed to voting for anyone if their policies and political positions mesh well with my own. I don't take into account any sort of party politics, because, frankly they shouldn't matter. But you're assuming that anyone 3rd party is immedietly better. You're being foolish.

  • Waiting for genemean0138 to use the word "sheeple" in 10... 9... 8...

  • lol :)

  • well yeh hes the lesser of two evils Mccain is a clear cut red neck puppet whore and obama ehh ive read hes policies and there really text book "play it safe" standard policies sorry to say America is finished....and since when did does it matter who you vote for every one knows its rigged i bet you a million dollars that doosh mccain will "win".

  • In which case President Palin declares war on

Iran(or more likely nukes it while winking, then

declares war)and the next generation of americans

become spare parts for the rising Chinese upper

    classes.

  • good one

  • Ron Paul got my top 82%, which wasn't a surprise.

  • 89% Obama and then 88% Dennis Kucinich.

  • which proves that it's bullshit, they're not even close, you just CAN NOT pick a metric in which they would be so close ...

  • Bob Barr wasn't my first choice... but I am Libertarian and I think he is currently the best available after this bailout fiasco.

  • Does't this whole bailout thing make you want to bury your money in your back yard?

  • Thanks, MetaBob and Genemean0138, for the link. I scored Ralph Nader (94%) and Barack Obama (90%). IMHO the only way other parties will ever be viable is for them to continue the political fight through out the year. Nader we only hear from at election time. What we need more than a third party is educated voters, IMHO.

  • Anybody that would vote for Obama or McCain is insane at this time. They both voted for the bailout.

  • Barack Obama was #2 behind my imaginary ideal candidate with 84%, with Ralph Nader trailing at third with 81%, and the dispicable John McCain a distant *19th* with 39%, and everyone's adored Ronny Paul at 15th with 55%. Yep. That's pretty much how I thought it would turn out.

  • Obama was also top on my list, but with only 77%.

  • ^^^^

this guy is awesome subscribe to him now!!!!

    (Obama sucks though)

    [he's a CFR member]

    {that's bad}

  • just to clarify:

Dick Cheney was a chairmember of the CFR

    (need i say more)

  • lol, i was the one that sent rabid ape that link, small world isnt it?

  • ALWAYS VOTE THIRD PARTY!

  • Explanation?

  • always stay home

  • everyone should always vote 3rd party

  • That's an ignorant point of view. People should vote for whoever is in line with their personal ideas of a leader, and not even take into account what party they run for. We shouldn't have "political parties", we should have a group of people working together instead of against each other to make this country a better place to live.

  • Leader huh? Pure new-speak. We live in a representative democracy. Vote for whoever best represents you. Politicians *are* not leaders; they are representatives with different responsibilities relative to their office.

  • Pardon my semantics.

  • You're pardoned. ;)

  • Genemean0138: Explanation??

  • Robert Anton Wilson said it best:

"every 4 years to give us the sense that democracy still exists, they give us 2 god damn motherf***ing liars, and they say 'choose between them you're free which lying bastard do you prefer' "

  • Riight. So, what makes you think that a third party canditate will be any different? Because they say so?

  • follow the money

  • Ross Perot ran third party in 1996, and he's worth around $5 billion. Your point is flawed.

  • did he put all 5 billion into his campaign?

  • And that matters why?

  • do you matter? why?

  • That's an intelligent comeback.

  • it's all good man, just keep going to work everyday and paying those taxes.

maybe if your lucky and keep voting

    communist/socialist/fascist

maybe someday you'll get back a small portion

of what you put into it.

(if the dollar is still worth anything then)
