great camera! Love it. Except mine just had a "system error" and forced me to restart the camera. after restarting, the SD card became inoperable. The computer even recognize it and neither will the camera. I really need the footage. Anyone had anything similar?
if you're trying to show off the quality of footage of a camera that shoots in TRUE 1080 HD, vimeo is faster, more efficient and retains higher quality, that's a fact.
YouTube has more covers of Britney Spears songs, sure, but not higher quality.
if this was shot in HD, no matter what the screen size or mistakes in uploading, vimeo would retain it in the highest quality and largest size to fit the screen. I'm sure this is on here for more viewers, so I get it, but still...
@JPizzle1122 with that in mind Youtube is marketed more towards consumer than it is prosumers and professionals, while Vimeo is geared more to the professionals. This is the reason while they do not lose image quality while uploading.
Many professionals I have known have to try to get the compressor settings right from the ediing suite when mastering so that when it goes up to youtube the video comes out fine, and not terrible.
@JPizzle1122 i'm a afraid you are mistaken my friend, youtube does have a limit and that limit is up to 10GB, i know this cause I had a friend try to upload a video of me doing stand-up in Standard Def.
Youtube does support hd but they still compress the fuck out of it leaving the video a poorer quality than when the video was orignally mastered.
Just because You tube is popular does not mean it has better technology, that is an overstatement, and a generalization.
for me it's more a problem of this clip talking about the camera but offering very few evidence of footage.
where's the FPS modes? Low Lux conditions? why should I get this camera but that a Panasonic Man supports it? Oh if anyone says 'the inteview was shot on the camera!' I say, 'strike 1' because Canon XH A1 footage blows this shit out of the water.
No, I don't own EITHER camera yet. but this video gives me no concrete evidence of video superiority in the Panasonic..
google is your friend. this is the best camera out there in it's price range and quality range. look on vimeo, look at testimonials from longtime videographers, look at testimonials from longtime CANON users who converted after a day with this camera. it's the best, period.
ok I will. I got my Mac now, so I'm aiming at a camera by year's end. Going to be a lot of research, but if it's as good as everyone says, shouldn't be a hard choice.
my advice, look on ebay for packages. there's one up there now that offers the camera (in box, brand new) with a hard case, soft case, telephoto lens, wide angle lens, tripod, lens protector all for like $3200. that's like $400 less than THE CAMERA BY ITSELF from other places. oh, and did I mention free shipping anywhere in the states? I'm gonna be all over it next month.
Sorry to bring back a comment from 2 months ago, but I'd be skeptical about that. Includes wide angle/telephoto lenses? With a camera that has a fixed lens? Unless you're talking about tele/wide angle converters, it's pretty useless. But even then, the HMC150 already reaches 28mm equiv, which is pretty wide. I'd play it safe and shell out the extra cash to go with B&H, Adorama, etc. That way you know for certain that you're not getting any questionable "gray market" type stuff...
I bought this package, and let me tell you, the telephoto lens is AMAZing, and very needed, since the zoom on the hmc150 is pretty short. the wide angle lens is less useful since the lens, as you said, is pretty wide to begin with. but the hard case is great, plus a soft case, plus a bunch of little thing...all for $3200? I love it, and I'm glad I did it.
HDV, the format used by Canon, is getting pretty long in the tooth. The artifact filled footage you get from one of these cameras cannot compare with the HMC150. Lets face it, no one is developing 'new' mpeg2 long GOP formats anymore - everything is moving towards MPEG4, or H264, which is the codec used in AVCHD.
its funny that this is a HD camera but the video is only 360p :P

Panasonics are my favorite :D
This camera looks amazing and I love how it resembles the DVX100 but the HMC40 is also very fun to use and more affordable.

can someone tell me the difference between the AG-HMC40 and the AG-HMC41E?
Don't know which to buy.
Thanks in advance.
norsknerd 2 years ago
They are exactly the same. The AG-HMC40 is the U.S. version and only sold in the U.S.
PBTSProVideo 2 years ago
OK, thanks=)
I have now bought the AG-HMC41E =D
norsknerd 2 years ago
the AG-HMC40 is NOT 'exactly the same' as a HMC150, the HMC40 uses 3 1/4" CMOS imagers.
The HMC150 uses 3 CCD 1/3" imagers. Plus the HMC40 has a 10 megapixel still image mode.

"As you can see, the results are stunning"
... Well, I'm going to take your word on that, since you uploaded this as a low-quality letterboxed video, haha.
Really nice looking camera, gotta find some more in-depth videos on it.

I was thinking the same thing! Vimeo > YouTube
WillBraden 2 years ago
WillBraden - Actually... I don't see how.
YouTube = Bigger audiences, better quality videos, no limitations, and more money to be made.
My original comment was just in reference to this particular video being curiously uploaded in non-HD.

WillBraden - YouTube supports HD video... I really don't know how you're trying argue with me on that.
Also, I already won the argument on the audience/income point, but nice try.

HD is not created equal. google is your friend, feel free to look it up. not interested in talking about it further.
WillBraden 2 years ago
WillBraden - I get it. 720p is not the same as 1080p.
But that wasn't my argument. Having an audience and making an income is what sets YouTube apart.
Who gives a shit if your video is 1080p if no one watches it?

Errr... this video came from a promotional DVD Panasonic gives away at trade shows. It is NOT high def, since it is a STANDARD DEF dvd.
I own three 150's and they are great cameras. Totally blows away all HDV format cameras.
