1 ) These Kois are mainly a few yrs old . 2 ) That's the metal hi-lite used in the nite to brighten the pond . Don't think it will blind them . 3 ) I think it would startled the kois more than the kois startled you when you try swimming in the pond , but I have seen some guys walking in their ponds trying to get close to them . Kois don't bite , but will take awhile for them to accustom having a human in their domain . You can try it , but "clean"yourself before entering the pond .
