  • My sunshade won’t close all the way. Is it the same problem with the clips or something else? I have an 02 325ci. When I try to open the sunroof it crackles and the sunshade goes in the roof all the way and gets stuck there and I have to fish it out. Can somebody please help?

  • @42OKing69 It could be the sunshade driver is sticking....you need to remove the glass panel and look into the roof cavity and see if there are any plastic bits in there from the tabs. Also, check for the sunshade driver...its the silver looknig thing on the left side. You can see it in my video and I do point it out. That's about all I know.

  • @325xitgrocgetter thanks

  • hey what diy instructions did you use on your computer??....i know there are a few out there....jw if you may have had something different.

  • @danewilliams833 I just googled alot before I did the repair. I don't recall exactly which instructions I used but checking e46fanatics or bimmerfest for links to online DYI guides.

  • @325xitgrocgetter yeah i did some tinkering today, wish i would have started earlier...ran into a slight problem....im off on wednesday so if i cant figure it out then, im just going to take it in....no stealers tho trying to find a good indy in my area just in case

  • Thanks for the post

  • Hi dear, great job! My "sun protector" broken, I want remove it, I remove glass first? Sorry my bad english, hugs!

  • great job man

  • @AtanasiuGabriel Thanks!

  • Thank you for the video. It helped me fixing sunroof on my BMW 330i 2001. Though, in my case there was a trick: a guide that pushes/pulls sunshade had too large gap over the rail and wasn't working as expected. I spent half an hour figuring out how to fix that (looks like replacing of this part is a really serious work). Eventually, I just reused the broken sunshade's guides placing them atop of the new ones. This resulted in higher height of and compensated the gap.

  • Hey, I have the same gap when my sunroof is closed which occurred after I fixed it. Did you find a solution to close the gap?

  • @scottkrueger4 you have to line up the glass panel with the roof line. Helps to have a another person. Loosen the torx screws that hold the glass panel. Push the glass panel up and then once it is flush with the roof, tighten the torx screws.

  • nice video. where can I buy the plastic tab?

  • @xdarkdragonx01 A BMW dealer would have the parts or an online source like Bavarian Autosports would have them as well.

  • @xdarkdragonx01 Hey guys greetings from down under in Australia I own my own sunroof shop and see this problem quite a lot . The problem that causes this breakage is primarily a design flaw the sunshade "driver" is only located on the left hand side this causes the shade to be pulled and pushed from one side only . Eventually either of the guides will fall off or break . WORST problem is if the shade jams part way back it will stop the glass at the same point and burn out the sunroof motor .

  • @hondared250 i got the same issue and i ask my mechanic he told me to change the motor ? and my sunshade is broken. i can't even pull back on . there something that is stuck and the sunroof got stuck with it -_-''
