Roll the insulation and mylar back, coat the inside of the flex duct with a thin coat of mastic, use a rocking motion and pull the "worm" all the way down to the plenum, panduit strap the worm, unroll the insulation and mylar neatly to the plenum, tuck the mylar under to cover any exposed insulation, panduit strap the insulation to the collar.
The insulation should have been pulled down all the way to the trunkline, if the elbow isn't insulated it will condensate and sweat causing possible ceiling damage because the elbow obviously isn't lined. btw the finished product looks like shit. If you were one of my helpers i'd make you retry.
