I had searched for many years but not got any link for Madhushala, then one day i got a mp3 link and than i had made a video for uploading it into Youtube. Interesting story and thanks you did not throw away your dad's collection! I have the LP i bought when i was in the Uni,that time it cost the princely sum of 36INR ( very expensive and one had to save 3 months pocket money to buy it )I still have it in pristine condition and this was a labour of love for the producer of the LP and it as a coup to be able to persuade the great man himself to recite the first 'Stanza'

Mandir masjid bair karaye mel karaye madhushala. So true. However, Madhushala does not mean Bar here; it means enlighenment. The whole Madhushala is written around the concept of human soul meeting God almighty.

I listened to this for the first time around a month back, but did not realize the metaphor surrounding "saaki", "haala" and "madhushala".

But I tried it yesterday, when the true meaning of the poem came out, some quatrains brought tears to my eyes. This is one of the best Hindi works I have come across. (the caveat being that I have not read many Hindi words to begin with! Haha...)
