  • rotaries - Amazing engines if you know what your doing....But....I'm sorry anyone who would rather take a 13b over a LS1 is just simply fucking retarded

  • @bmxguy08 its actually its just the opposite. if you knew anything about them there triange gods you would know that.

  • what kind of bald fag takes the rotary out of an FD!!!!!!

  • @floridabowhunter It's called reliability. but knowing you, you'd stick it the piece of crap 13b

  • @ahsi88 only people who thinks rotaries arent reliable are the ones who dont know how they work and how to maintain them properly. run premix, dont overboost, run a reasonable port with a decent tune and itll last you forever.

  • Cool and everything, but the speedo in the dash isn't hooked up. That's that honda owner shit right there.

  • drift much?

  • Shit* my bad... Typo

  • @mazda8081

I use to own a rx8. Key word was "use" to own... It was the biggest piece of shot I have ever owned. The only thing the car had going for it was handling. (I currently have a supercharged slk Mercedes and a ford lightning, and use to own a 03 gt mustang so I have been around sports cars...) Mazda RX cars are about as dependable as a crack whore. Piston engines all the way! (preferably with blowers)

  • I love how nobody on Youtube take's physics into a play, ya it weighs the same as the rotory but it's center body of gravity changed dramaticly due to placement of weight, since the rotory

makes it a front-mid engine car. People!!! A german genius & japanses manufacturing icon made this engine vs abunch of people who never majored physics and high level engineering who post comments on youtube!?!?! My vote goes with the german genius and japanese icon.

  • keep pressing 9 :)

  • Brand enthusiasts take the fun out of modifying cars. When it's your car, do what you want with it. Someone else car, let them do what they will without you crying about it. When you invest funds, time, and effort into someones car then maybe you'll be justified in complaining about the outcome.. Otherwise, please stop hating.. You sound like children.. -_-

  • hey look a camaro! suck on hshshshshhhshshahshhashhshhshshshs

  • It would be nice if the speedo worked lol

  • Aluminum is for cans, not blocks.

  • Can't beat the good ole American LS series engines -3 lol

  • i challenge any ls1 to a race with my fc thats a fair trade ill waste you and i have bald tires done beat to many vettes and if theres a turn ill weaste you more check my tuning vids in 1st gear

  • I would rather not own or drive another RX7 ever again than to drive a 7 with a damn V6-V8 in it. Its no longer an RX7 at that point. I dont care about the hooplah with people sayin" The LS1 is umpteen pounds lighter than this engine and that engine". How about I buy a Old school nova and drop a 2JZ or RB26 in it. Rednecks all across the planet would shit a brick. I dont mean to seem ignorant or beligerent by any means, but I just cant fathom destroying such a beautiful work of art like the RX7

  • @pdpdrummerboi Why would we care? Nova came with an I4 and I6.....and those weren't engines to be proud of either in those times... so why care about it? Matter of fact, a lot of old school cars came with I4/6... No biggie...

  • @pdpdrummerboi Id love to see someone drop a 2jz in an old school Nova. Why, because its an improvement. An old 327 wouldn't hold a candle to the 2jz that's replacing it.

Just like the rotary doesn't hold a candle to the LS1 in a RX7 street car. Sorry if that makes you anus hurt. :)

  • music blows.

  • I always like the rx7 but not the rotary engine. an ls series v8 in an rx7 sounds great and seems more reliable

  • 2:58 tears of joy ran down my face

  • @FyreFox94 I think it hit VTEC

  • @FyreFox94

Tears of shame ran down mine

  • @DramaKidStudioz trooololoolooolllolololooololololooooooooo......:/

  • @FyreFox94

I'm just a purist.. I believe in sticking with the same power plant, or motors from same manufacturer

  • @originaldriver 26b Would be a better battle to ls1, and You can't say they don't sound better and perform better then a ls1, and for oil drinking, If it wasn't built by a redneck you'd have no problems with that

  • @crazyredneckwifknife LS1 sounds much better lol.

  • @Cenon2007 Have you heard a 266b before? I can understand you saying an LS1 sounds better than a 13b for sure or a 20b to an extent but the 26b is awesome sounding. Look it up.

  • @crazyredneckwifknife all rotary motors eat oil like a 2 stroke lawn mower dude no matter who builds it

  • i see the speedometer works very well.

  • cop ask's you "do you know how fast you were going" sh*t if I know speedo don't work

  • Hell yeah thats awesome!

  • Right motor...right car...

F**k the ignorant haters who miss the point! Thanks for posting some good WOT footage.

  • Someone chose the wrong motor... youtube.com/watch?v=eDSXVC32fPk&feature=related

  • Ruined a great tuner !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @XAVIER45YMCMB nope dont think so bud v8's ftw

  • @XAVIER45YMCMB HAHAHAHA that RX-& was SHIT until the HEART of a CORVETTE was put in. The only thing RX-7 is good at are the looks.

  • @noshabibis Lol. tell that to the corners of Tsukuba.

  • @noshabibis ummmm i think you forgot about the handling... and with a done right rotary they're fast as shit. the reason EVERYBODY swaps lsx into their cars because its a reliable great amount of horsepower.theres a rotary car out there somewhere that will kick most piston engines asses and vice versa theres no way to say one type is better than the other.also theres probably 10x more ppl working a developing piston engines so imagine if the rotary had that support for so many years

  • @XAVIER45YMCMB At least it can run reliably now without having to worry about constantly blowing apex seals and consuming oil like a 2-stroke

  • race a civic!..NOTHING beats a civic!

  • to bad its not rotary motor. LS1 is fast cheap power. you should at have gone LS7 like the big boys here is houston. Lmk if you want a link and ill show you how its really done.

  • too bad he was only going 0mph from 2:58 - end

  • I agree that an LS1 is a great motor, but i wouldnt call it a "powerhouse". And it sounds terrible in comparison the the original mazda motor. Oh, and the last thing, tell the shop that built it to give your money back, motor swap 101 "ALWAYS line up number 1 spark plug with shock tower".

  • @SharpyBoy221 Always line up the number 1 plug with the shock tower? It'll never happen with a v8 unless you cut the fire wall out and use the back half of the motor as an arm rest. Its obvious your a 4 cylinder/rotary guy

  • @jdubcbr600 What i prefer to drive is not the issue, just stating that good "rule of thumb" is proper alignment, Though its easier to "slap a motor in and call it done", that just leads to problems down the road, just my experience over the past decade.

  • @SharpyBoy221 your gay

  • @ogloc61 At what point does my sexuality mean that I am wrong? Your misuse of "your", instead of "you're" tells me that you are poorly educated, but I am not going to call you names.

  • @SharpyBoy221 What was the last motor you swapped?

  • @mrjurun 342 into a 98 ranger, 5.0 into an 96 mustang, with 4.6 computer, tuned, repined, running. 6.0 into s-10, about to put ej25 into a 70's bug. So what is your point to question me?

  • @SharpyBoy221 what is the bore and stroke on the 342, what crank? Whats repined? Which computer, what did you do about the passkey? I would hope running, or what's the point. What did you do about oilpan clearance in the s10? 70?bug and how far do you plan on moving the firewall(yes I know it's in the back)? I should've questioned your grammar first, then your so called resume thats the point in questioning you.

  • i always feel like a badass dusting a 13.8 second car like that camaro SS

  • I personally love the sound of a rotary motor. way to ruin a perfect japanese car with an american engine.

  • @DarkRasengan45 Ruin??? LOL ok.

  • listen to that small block sing

  • why is he driving at 1:50 but the speedometer dont move?

  • @TopGamingKingz Cable isn't connected I'm sure. I had a dsm that was the same way

  • yahh no more gay weedwacker engine. wicked motor choice in a wicked car

  • wheres Vin Diesel?

  • i like youre liscense plates, very clever.

  • wut is the point of having a rx7 if you arent going to have a rotary. the whoel point of a rx7 is to have that rotary. that is why mazda built rx7 and rx7...to have a rotary not a fucking ls1 -.-

it is very stupid to have that in there. stop playing around and take it out. put a ls1 in something else like a bmw or something...

  • @aznnubbyboy Your comments are unfounded and purely your own stupid opinion.

The point, as it's apparently not obvious enough, is this: this high torque engine coupled with the light weight body of the RX-7 makes for a pretty quick car without forced induction. To me, that's a pretty smart move and ingenious.

Impressive work on the car. Are you going to add forced air via supercharger or turbo? Might want different gears in that case, unless you have tons of extra tires >=)

    Awesome car!

  • @IEatMnMs i have never had a speeding ticket in any of my cars without speedos. its not hard to judge how fast your going.

  • jesus fucking christ! all you fucks need to shut up, there will be rotary's that beat 4cyls, 6cyls, v8s v10s v12s and there will be rotary's that will loose to all of em. you can pretty much make any motor have alot of power, you can pretty much make any car fast. i honestly believe if you wanna go fast for cheap, get a LS1 and twin turbo it, lots of power and not alot of money.

  • @FULLEFFECTCARCLUB or the ford small block 302 also another good motor

  • Nothing beats a Light weight High powerband rotary

  • put a 20b in it not a shitty v8. fucktard

  • @TheNickoman1 20b= gas guzzling, oil-drinking, torqeless "grenade"

    LS1= lightweight, dependable, "stump-yanking" powerhouse.

Why would you ever go back? :)

  • @originaldriver 20b torqless? lol what, really? pulease. I seen them slap v8s around and down the road

  • @adam3176 Yes, torqueless... meaning that you have to rev the ever loving shit out of them to get to a usable powerband. And while doing so, a rotary will burn as much oil as this ls1 burns gas getting there, since the silly things are sealed by flinging oil inside the rotor housing. (WTF?)

The RX7 chassis happens to be light enough to negate a lot of this, however, you risk grenading the apex seal/motor on even the slightest, most miniscule episode of detonation

So what is there to LOL about?

  • @originaldriver As long as you get the second gen with the added rib at the back. This person chose a good block.

  • @originaldriver because triangles

  • @originaldriver 20b is also lightweight .... and it sounds cool...... imo, turbo rotors are awesome. also dual and tripple rotors are seriously bad ass for the track.

  • @fleetfeet2004 At over 400lbs, the 20b is heavy as shit for its size. And there's good reason for this. The rotary is made entirely of cast iron. (myth busted)

And yes, they do make excellent track motors, but only such. (Presuming that you have ample cash, the car is trailor'd and there is plenty of fuel on standby.) The fact is, other than a higher redline, they dont offer a single performance gain over an LS1.

Not power, not longevity and certainly not efficiency... nothing.

  • @originaldriver i love ls1 swaps but for track only because daily driving rotary is amazing and you'll fall in love. idk why but most of us do. but to you saying that they certainly are not efficient you couldnt be more wrong. gas efficiency yeah they suck but as a motor its one of the most efficient if not the most efficient motor ever made. NO movement in a rotary motor is wasted, unlike a piston engine where only 25% of the movement actually goes to powering the car.

  • @marlinbike The keywork is "stroke"

A piston engine applies more mulitiplied force to the crankshaft since it has a greater stroke distance from the rotational axis of the crankshaft than the sproket of a rotor would have against the axis of the non-concentric shaft.

A typical 2-rotor engine produces 12 combustion events in 720 deg of rotation as compared to a v8's 8 events. Proof positive that the LS v8 provides more torque with fewer combustion events and better thermo-mechanical efficiency.

  • @originaldriver, 20b is a race bred motor, all rotor's are, if you drive them high in the rev range like they should be (always above 3500rpm), then you have your torque, but yes they drink hard, dont get me wrong this Ls1 is a nice setup but 20b's and 26rb's have ther place,,, on a track=win

  • @blkrota1 Ill have to say, i totally agree. Rotaries suck ass for street use, but they sing on the track.

  • @originaldriver The one thing that made this car so different from the rest was removed and replaced. This is NO LONGER an Rx-7.FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mazda8081 Tee hee... dumb comments make me lol.

  • @mazda8081 Why would they want a piece of shit rotary anyways?

  • @dre5491 What ignorance,50/50 weight out the window,PURE sports car NOMORE!Piece of shit rotary you say, thats why chevy copied its body lines.Power to weight,NO ONE else comes close.Being that i have a 3rd gen rx-7 NOTHING handles like it,so good luck with your piss-ton motor.REAL motors comes with ROTORS!

  • @mazda8081

Yous trollin right? Cuz your comment was the most ignorant shit i have ever read

    Real engines are horizontally opposed

  • @babot6 Are your feelings hurt?Horizontally opposed in whose world, not when it comes to an Rx-7.They took the RX out of the 7 by putting a Piss-ton motor in it.And by the way, learn to spell WTF is [yous trollin].fagot6

  • @mazda8081 read top comment

  • YEAH LS1 rocks!!! Sounds good, good thing you took that ricey engine out of there....no more riceness hahha

  • I couldn't help but notice that the speedometer wasn't working. Hopefully you got that problem fixed b4 you got a surprise in your rear view mirror. lol

  • i love the cackling sound of a cammed American V8!

  • You spelled, "you're" wrong. Where the fuck s Toretto?!?!

  • lol sounds like if it was a camaro from the inside

  • i feel so bad that you have to deal with all these stupid tubers that have to point out every little imperfection. it takes a lot of time, money, and hard work to build something like this, i believe it deserves recognition. what a sick little toy i would love to own something like that.

  • Whos vin diesel?

  • @jdubcbr600 look up "fast and furious Vin diesel" or "fast and furious Vin diesel rx7"

  • Meh

  • having owned an Rx7 for so long......it just sounds wrong for an rx7 to sound like that......lol. I don't think I could ever cheap out and stick a V8 in my 7.

  • @FdSnakeEater Cheap out? That motor will last through 5 or 6 re-builds you will see with that rotory at $10,000 a pop.

  • @jdubcbr600 what I mean was, I cant go to the dark side and swap in a V8. I love my rotary, no matter how many rebuilds. Been boosting 500hp for over 2 years in my 1.3l rotary with over 5000 miles, she's been running perfect. I believe its the tune that matters in how healthy and long a motor survives, doesn't matter if its rotary or piston.

  • @FdSnakeEater You average 50 miles a weekend over the course of 2 years. Of course it hasn't blown yet.

Honestly, do you track events or anything of that nature? I am not trying to prod the beast, I am just wondering.

  • i never seen vin diesel i just seen a nice car

  • id rather have a 4rotor

  • id rather have the rotor motor but whatever

  • @soul111smasher i guess your too stupid, that rotary will never be this fast, all torque, no need for high rev... good combo light ass fuck..... watch out...

  • @doomsdayk20 I guess your too fucken stupid to read then, i never said itd be faster dumbass

  • @IEatMnMs whats wrong with it.. I drove a 620 hp e36 daily for the last 1 1/2 years without a speedo & guess how many times i got pulled over.......... 1, & that was for my lights being too bright.

  • @IEatMnMs Most higher end GPS sytems have speedo programs that are acurate to the meter. just use that for a quick fix if you have the wrong sized wheels or what ever.

  • i like the part where vin diesel drove

  • you sir have wrecked a rotor.. i hope you are disappointed with yourself

  • linkin park? its 2011 man.. throw on some beibs jams

  • @k1ngofthosewhoknow your on crack, hopefully your joking.

  • @k1ngofthosewhoknow no its 2012

  • this sounds more like challenger's 5,7 HEMI than mazda's 799cc engine

  • when the 2nd thru 4th pull, the speedo dosnt move...

  • what exhaust mate?

  • WHO THE FUCK DO U THINK YOU ARE !

  • is it normal that to engine looks like and sounds like a mustang engine???

  • @viperss2010 mustang ? It's a v8 that camaros and GTOs and Vettes have, oh and Pontiac Trans Am ws6 so of course....it's an american engine

  • @viperss2010 neither of those are true. dohc v8 don't have the intake coming straight from the front and LS engines don't have the underwater "blub blub blub" like sound of the dohc heads on the mustang engines

  • @germankid93 mustve came from a mumaro

  • @sunoco420 or a Castang

  • what is the song?

  • Man that is nice. Love the Cam Sound.

I cant imagin how the pull must feel.

    Love it.

  • @southplainsREBELS the fuel economy isn't that bad, not if they produce the same horsepower. but I agree with ya, apex seals ftl. on the other hand, when there's something wrong with the rotary it will actually continue to run for quite a while, whilst a piston engine can definitely produce itself alot of damage. we'll just see how mazda handles the 16x engine. maybe they're gonna fix some of the rotary's big drawbacks.

  • Haha, damn I bet that things a blast to drive and then some.

  • smh

  • ls1=monster. there is a reason those are put in corvettes. just sayin

  • Theres no replacement for displacement....that's all I gotta say

  • @MsSunshine2388 except forced induction or NOS

  • @MsSunshine2388 come up with that all on your own or read it off some yanks shirt?

  • @MsSunshine2388 only rednecks and inbreds say that

  • @MsSunshine2388 typical american

  • @moham7ad Shut the fuck not all Americans are the same.....stereotypes are gay so go creep on Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber some more

  • @bobbywayne310 maybe i will. problem bro? u mad? u angry?

  • @moham7ad Naa just trying to tell u how stupid u look by posting comments like that but w/e its ur life u can do w/e/ u want....u trying to start a youtube argument? r u a youtube gangster? do u talk shit on youtube all the time? <----I can do it too :)

  • @bobbywayne310 its called trolling not "youtube gangster". you should try it.

  • @moham7ad Why so I can be the annoying guy who put stupid comments on youtube... no thank you

  • @bobbywayne310 you're arguing with "the annoying guy" about a "stupid comment" which i think is pretty stupid on your behalf. BAM RIGHT IN THE KISSER!

  • @moham7ad That is true... not gonna lie

  • @MsSunshine2388 turbos bro

  • @MsSunshine2388

yes there is, it's called nitrous or boost.

  • @MsSunshine2388 turbos do help though ;p

  • @MsSunshine2388

your mistaken. look at 99-04 mustang gts, f bodies, any muscle car from back in the day. and look at the v6 camaros and mustangs today. way better hp/tq curves, way better 1/4 times, way better gas mileage than the previous v8s. that saying is no longer true, technology has came a long way.

  • If he had one of these in the movie he may actually be able to live his life a 1/4mile at a time and nothing else would matter!

  • 2:57 Now that's an eargasm.. oho oho hoh oh oh ohohoho

  • You need a racing starter.

  • @southplainsREBELS good technology? I don't see any good technology in an ls1, I'm sorry. I'd stick to the rotaries. they have huge potential at a quarter of the volume.

  • tach doesnt work ha

  • Nice, they ruined it.

  • rotary guys wouldnt be so mad if it was a JDM V8 going in like ISF or Tundra 5.4 w/trd blower.. closed minded peeps wake up...thank you Hinson for doing these kits and keeping FDs 'out there' as a cool project option. Wankel wouldnt care

  • LS FD is the Corvette done correctly. Looks are subjective but most agree an FD is better looking than bar of soap C5 same era

  • so where was vin at???

  • the rx7's body dynamics is built for the lightweight rotary engine. I cannot understand why people swap ls for rotaries. the 50/50 weight distribution is a great deal in its handling.

  • silvers should have keep that one

  • i hate my fukin pce of shit toyota echo

  • How much would this whole set up cost? And is there a way to minimize the sound so I can make it a sleeper?

  • dude dat MONSTA dont sound ANYTHING like Mazda! sound like Mustang Cobra! or Corvette!! some MUSCLE car not TUNER car!

  • To all of you who made the mistake of buying a shitty slow car.. its ok, The ls1 will fit into almost anything..

  • you got the liscense plate wrong

  • hmmm i own FD, ive shitted on LS1 swapped FDs, by the way continue to lower the value of the Rx7 by getting rid of the rotary, smart move, might as well bought a Miata....

  • @bontis101 the sad thing is people are willing to pay more for a ls1 swap rx7 -_-

  • @Tj1056 yeah it is a sad thing, its funnier to watch them blow head gasket after they do swap,

  • @bontis101 maybe if they are trying to rev it like a rotary :)

  • @bontis101 theres nothing wrong with the rotary engine besides the fact that your limited to power output. ls1s are one of the greatest engines ever built period.so much power can be put out with simple mods. im a ford/gm guy and rx-7/supra/skyline/evo/sti are beast also. but an ls1 on a rx-7 is creating a beast period. but i can see what your saying if the rx-7 were to be a collectable which it would be one day. then putting a ls1 is just stupid but oh well thats his car not yours or mines

  • LSX motors are the shit.

  • I find it amusing that reading through half of these comments that most of you dont have the competence to even understand how a rotary motor works. And for who ever said "The LS1 is actually not that much physically larger than the stock rotary" your fucking retarded..

  • omg, big deal... you're only going 0 mph

  • Wheres Vin Diesel?

  • Hold on Ls1 as in covette motor?
