  • INIGO MONTOYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • Sorry - but I love Danny Elfman! I studied film music for way too long (guilty pleasure) and John Williams is a hack!

  • It's harder to knock or redirect the gun someone is holding near you when held sideways because of the way our wrists work.

  • PLZ SOMEONE TELL ME HOW DO U GET MOVIES ONTO UR VIDEOS TO DO LIKE A REVEIW OF IT IN GWD QUALITY NEED ANSWER IN DETAIL (i cant get them onto my vids from itunes so dont say tht)

  • Combining all the pasts? Joker did that once. Something about gamma rays and a supersoldier program with a supersuit and being from a dead planet called krypton...

  • Anyone that likes choirs, here are some for you:

Surgam Identidem from Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica

    Library Hunt from Invader Zim

The Seal is Broken from Blue Dragon

    UB from Parasite Eve

Turii Panta Rhei from The Epic of Zektbach

A Grasping Truth from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

  • Matrix choirs were singing in Sanskrit, it wasn't made up. :-/

  • best choir one I've seen was in Jackass. opening credits of the first movie has the cast riding a giant shopping cart... in slow motion with O Fortuna playing.

  • As for the choir thing,Skyrim you Draconic...Fuck yeah...Dovahkiin Dovahkiin bitches.

  • i love the sexy cry, i've learned to do it because i love it so much ^^

  • 2:17 Wgat film?

  • Aiming the gun sideways has one advantage: You look cool as shit when you kill someone. That is, if you can kill someone with your aim partially destroyed and even worse recoil, but hey, fuck tactics! I want to look bad ass!

  • @noname76761 so true so true

  • The Nostalgia Critic SUCKS!!!!!!!

  • @20thCenturyJakeFilms I love you man. Your videos are Oscar-award-winning. Unfortunately, I'm being sarcastic because you suck.

  • ok, who else head banged when the klingons did there chorus? lol

  • Haha! Its funny that every one of these cliches are in the Matrix sequels!

  • the past thing is not a cliche, it's a literary device and character development. it's supposed to let us in on the characters inner emotions and drives.

  • The answer is blowin' in the wind BOOOOOM!

  • 8:20

    Edna Mode: No capes.

  • @YoungJeezyCOD Or Young Justice:

"No capes, no tights. No offense."

  • As a note: Holding the gun sideways can be useful in some situations with certain guns, you can use the muzzle jump to make a sweeping-effect, useful for clearing groups.

  • It's just as the top comment says, they hold it sideways to absorb a part of the recoil when they shoot.

When you fire, instead of your arm flinging upwards, it pushes back, causing your arm to bend, but you're still able to shoot in pretty much the same spot.

So yes, it actually does also help your aim and it has a point.

...Now to wait for someone random to tell me that I'm an idiot for saying that. <.<

  • @superjeexx YOU'RE AN IDIOT FOR SAYING THAT!! *derp*

Just kidding dude. I'm sure your argument is legit. :)

  • @superjeexx Yes that's true, for a single shot at close range.

But if they want to reduce recoil, why not just hold the gun with both hands?

Also, if you hold the gun normally, the recoil affects your aim upwards, which in the worst case means you'll shoot over your target and it can easily be negated by aiming lower.

If you hold it sideways, it will throw of your aim to the side, so you could end up shooting bystanders.

Let's face it, in movies, they just use it 'cause it looks cool ^^

  • Here's a cliche: Love Interest!

Its like anything epic you GOT to have a romance angle! Otherwise people will assume the character's sexuality or consider him/her one dimensional

  • @RandomMindz It's a cliché, but it's a lame and annoying one that has plagued movies for far too long, so it has no place in this list ^^

  • In X-men !st class they killed the mother rather than the father.

  • @5:08 its so metal

  • I freaking love the choir it sounds fucking awsome!

  • in x men first class it was magneto's mother that was killed and started his bloody vengence

  • "The Dramatic Choir" Skyrim. Yes? Yes.

  • "Always the father"

    ...

HAVE YOU EVER EVEN GLANCED AT A DISNEY MOVIE

    That is all

  • @haloreachmon Yeah, Bambi`s mother died, Quasimodo`s mom was killed by Frollo, and Todd the Fox (from The Fox and the Hound) lost his mother to hunters. Jeez, why do so many family movies have the main character LOSE their family. o.o

  • Don't be afeared, everybody.

We have Wallander to avert #10...

  • Number 8 had me thinking back to the (78) HULK TV movie.

They used a choir for the "transformation sound".

In fact they used TWO versions... The choir sang from low to high in a tense tone when banner turned into the HULK and the high to low in a relaxed pace when the HULK changed back into Banner.

This was later (sadly) replaced with a synthesizer; as the original was much better.

  • Thats the killshot!

    killshot!!

  • i love the epic choir

  • listen skyrim music

  • @supertoasteroftoast Language (n) the method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structured and conventional way. Marc Okrand actually made up an entire, learnable, way of speaking and writing. Most Trekkies (or Trekkers) only learn a few words, while linguists who aren't fans often learn the entire language. And of course I know what a vagina is, I have one.

  • damn now I want to watch Sin City again

  • In STAR WARS and MATRIX they were actually sining Sanskrit, a real dead language.

  • They hold the gun sideways because that's how it comes out of the box.

  • Actually I think I read somewhere that capes where used in sword dueling to improve balance or something. Maybe like how a cat uses it's tale to help balance. Not sure just something I vaugely recall reading years ago. :)

  • What's the film at 2:17???

  • wat was the clip wit the woman with the eyepatch from?

  • @Jaws1009 its adults swims ventures brothers

  • It was the mother in Magneto's case.

  • Superheroes have capes to show movement in the old comics.

  • "Come on cry!" *BOOM* That fit so well. XD

  • Don't worry critic my novel series actually has the ultimate past (that it is until all of the god dang books are written and then published)

  • (the warehouse/house that explodes when the number of the next thing is shown)

  • the house/ware house is from the episode of doctor who where the teachers in this one school are bat- like aliens and the woman he traveled with in the way old one and k-9. i can tell because you can see the Tardus at the bottom left corner

  • @OVERWRONGTHOUSAND That part isn't from Doctor Who, that's from Hot Fuzz. A guy falls on a sea mine in the evidence room and the whole building blows up.

  • Skyrim made up it's own language, speakable man :P.

  • 3:37

    You killed my fucker!

  • 1:15

    Because CJ.

  • Sweet! The explosion from Hot Fuzz.

  • the sexy cry, when Emily from WAR HORSE did the sexy cry i actually shouted it in the theater.....lets just say i didn't get to see the ending.

  • Mono y Mono, seriously? it's Mano y Mano as in Hand to Hand

  • @mamilolu

I believe you meant "Mano A Mano" as in hand to hand. Mano y mano means hand and hand.

  • @Pyro67152 I now I spelt it wrong, I just didnt bother to fix it

  • 4:54 Hunchback of Persia

  • Instead of jumping in the air in Mission Impossible 2, they should have been playing a children's card game. Much more intimidating.

  • @Dinodan3 ATTENTION DUELISTS. You just made my day with a YGOTAS quote.

  • As far as I'm aware turning the gun actually makes it more difficult to shoot, the only advantage is it looks cool as fuck.

  • @t1mel1ne as stated in the top comment it also reduces accurcy or if you have a machain gun you can swoop the whole room with it

  • the intro from hot fuzz one of my favorite movies ever

  • thumbs up if you kept playing the song when NC says never to plat that again

  • the cape thing actually had a use in a series called "The Cape"(?). The hero used a cape made of a special material as a weapon.

  • @wolfkniteX Not really, the choir is composed of barbarians speaking nordish.

  • Comment removed

  • I freakin love the epic choir!!

  • In elder scrolls 5 skyrim... the theme of the game is sung in DRAGON!

  • @BeTrueAlwaysMegaMan well, i just remember watching a bethesda interview type video for the game where they said that they made a full dragon language for the game and that they used it in the opening song or something like that.

also ive looked up the dragon language and they have a full translation thing for it and everything, grant it theres not tons of words that are in the language but its enough to spark my interest, lol

  • "... come on cry" BOOM!!!!!

    The best timing ever

  • 4:48, Every time i see the epicness of his face in the movie i tear up a bit, its so awesome i do a Happy cry

  • how come star wars has all the cliches except for number 1?

  • ddnt skyrims choir for the theme actually sing in the dragon language (I know there was some english in the song as well but still)

  • If there's one thing that bugs me about cliche #9, The Past, it's one of the most overused cliches in anime such as Dragon Ball Z.

  • Maybe they turn it sideways to reduce recoil

  • @sycomania134 Typically it's for pointless flair. In practical use, it's used to quickly sweep across a room using the recoil to move the gun from target to target.

  • @LupisLupine mgs3 lol?

  • @sycomania134 But it doesn't reduce the recoil. It actually makes the recoil worse on your hand because of how your wrist is aligned.

  • @sycomania134 That would only make recoil worse.

  • @sycomania134

    It wouldn't work.

    It would just recoil sideways.

"Mythbusters" actually tested this idea in one of their episodes.

    This is what happened: youtube.com/watch?v=UFUe7dhagTY

  • dramatic choir is my favorite bit

  • @7:28 hhhahahahah I was thinking the same thing

  • Press 5:05 for Klingon Choir.

  • The most epic choir in anything is almost every song in God of War.

  • Hot Fuzz!!!!

  • His Klingon isn't guttural enough. You have to literally spit the words out.

  • @MistressEsmeralda people who think Klingon is a language must not know what a vagina is.

  • Actually, I think the cape clichè started with Count Dracula.

  • What movie is that at 8:14?

  • @Mattbrain Count of Monte Cristo

  • LOL LOL 'cliches' LOL I feel stupid and like an aliterate black lol. somehow I misread it. I was clicking on this thinking some how it said the/meant the top 11 'GLITCHES', meaning that this was going to be a vid covering the top 11 glitches, mistakes bloopers. Too bad, that woulda been better. btw number 11, I think thats gay and dumb myself. I think it looks a lot more bad, lethal &dangerous when you hold the gun steadily with both hands cop/fbi ect agent style. It reflects tactical training.

  • The pilot episode made fun of the pointing the gun sideways motion recently; Jim Caviezel tells a guy "1) You can't aim it and 2) The shell casing will shoot right back in your face. and then he proceeded to beat up the guy"

  • and batmans cape i beleive is the only person that needs a cape, it's bullet proof**i beleive**, it serves as a glider in almost every scene with batman, and in an episode in BTAS he actually uses it to not get frozen by mr. freeze by hiding, practically, behind it sorta

  • holding the gun sideways is only necasarry in WANTED

  • If you hold your gun sideways your gun can get jammed.

  • how did my father die dropped a piano on his head LOL

  • Saying, or even implying that Super Bad and Date Night have satire is a disgrace to all satire anywhere. It's a disgrace to humor as well.

  • I'm sorry, Dramatic Choirs should be higher on the list. The NOOO! cliche is just stupid

  • because no matter what you look like snot nosed and puffied eyed crying people are ugly. The movies can't have that.

  • best cliche is the dramatic choir

  • @mobitchzz Two Steps from Hell is the best group for this.

  • How about when a guy walks away from an explosion without looking or even flinching?

  • Choirs and flowing capes are awesome :) lol

  • In The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, the choirs are singing in Dragon.

  • One of the best crying scenes is in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, when Sam's crying at the end.

  • In Batman Arkam Assylum,Batman uses HIS cape to glide:p

  • "My name is Anigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." Gotta love that.

  • "Fuck, he turned it sideways! Kill shot! That's a kill shot!!"

  • @andyrevell Oh and just a quick aside, not mentioned in the review although worth mentioning for Epic Choir-ness: in the Doctor Who Episode "The End Of Time", the choir are singing in Latin too.

  • HOT FUZZ!!! FUCK YEAH!

  • @hobbesty51 I think its cliche that brown haired guy has a yellow haired love interest

  • You would have loved the main theme from halo combat evolved

  • holding the gun sideways isn't as cool as holding the gun upside down like death the kid from soul eater does.

  • Seriously, I died of laughter at 5:07

  • Its funny cuz its never the father thats killed in Japan, in anime its always the MOM that dies and the EVIL BROTHER was the one who killed her.

  • Holding your gun sideways will damage your wrist and it's just lame! But really fun to make fun of!

  • Hot Fuzz!

  • Sick of sideways guns. Seriously it's just.... weak.

  • at 3:47 i saw toy story 2.

  • I'm actually sick of the choir cliche. Metal is a hundred times more dramatic.

  • 8:55: Number 6: I think we'll be sick of other cliches LONG before we tire of the cape blowing in the wind.

  • In Disney movies it's ALWAYS the mother

  • He must really like Disney's 1993 version of the three musketeers because he referenced it three times in "the past", "mono y mono", and in the "blowing capes"

  • @godzilla964 How did Godzilla Final Wars use "The Past"?

  • Kid:Come on! CRY!!!!!!!!

    *Boom*

    Kid:o_O

  • 3:10 what movie is that?

  • Cliches like "Gangsta style", "The Past", "Dramatic Choir", "Explosion just a few feet away", and "Mono Y Mono" were used in the japanese movie "Godzilla: Final Wars", and that's why that movie was just a whole lot of fun, and it kicked ass, and was an awesome ending to the king of the monsters.

  • Hey....watch Soul Eater even if you dont watch anime....watch how the character Death the Kid holds his guns. Its pretty badass.

  • What's the cartoon at 3:38?

  • What movie are the clips at 8:50 and 9:00 from??

Does anyone know what it's called?

  • @mikmick13

I think its "Hero" starring Jet Li. I may be wrong, cuz there was a another similar movie released in 2004

  • disney kills the moms thats why everyone else kills the dad.

  • @zepo132 the lion king begs to differ. :P

  • 5:08 And the Trekkies rejoice.

  • i tried to shoot a basketball hoop with a nerf gun,and i kept missing until i turned it sideways, then i kept hitting it

  • 9:15 Number 5: Cutting Nostalgia Critic's videos in half and putting a message saying "Watch Part 2, go to NC's website"!

  • whats a clich does he me glitch

  • @spartain086 no . glitch is pronounsed glei-ch. and cliche is pronounsed cli-she-i

  • it is called "mano a mano" which translates hand to hand and not "mono y mono" that would be monkey to monkey which does not make sense at all

  • Everytime i see the house explode, i laugh, because of how it appears. Like in the end of this video.

"The answer is blowing in the wind" *explosion*

  • we should ask the wind then

  • 5:31 FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHAT IS THAT SONG?

  • @allmyself666 I think it's X Ray Dog-Dark Empire.

  • frodo has THE SEXY CRY

  • 6:34 Iron Maiden Rock in Rio!!!!!!!!!!! arthur's farewell is awesome

  • only a tard holds a gun sideways

  • 3:33 It's not always just the father. It's always sometimes the mother or both parents.

  • 5:08 EPIC...

  • Ominous Choir's one of my favorites. Nothing says epic apocalyptic showdown like a choir chanting in some obscure dead language.

  • Notice the Nerd did a review of the worst cliches, and the Critic did the best ones. Was this video made before or after the Critic Nerd battles?

  • The best choir for a trailer i know is for The Elderscrolls V: Skyrim trailer, awesome since its in dragon tounge but still sound english.

  • Number 5.......could it be Cliffhangers???

  • "practically" made to look good blowing in the wind? try ENTIRELY designed to look good blowing in the wind. that's a costume designer's friggin' JOB!

  • The ultimate Backstory he described sounds a helluva lot like Mother 3. Except you had to play through it.

  • 3:10 who else wants to kick that kid in the nuts and watch him cry?

  • @RyanOsangOfficial

Kick in the nuts? If you've seen that movie, you'd know he gets it worse.

  • Why is the main bad guy so long to fight? THE BAD GUYS GET ALL THE COOL SHIT! No, really. Take a good hard look. Without the bounds of not killing any innocent, they make all the best stuff. however, for some reason, they never give it to their normal thugs...

  • @haosboss I agree I was playing Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2 and I said to myself "Why do the bad guys always have the cooler powers?".

  • NO CAPES

  • I wish he'd made this a few months later so he could've included that clip from 'Megamind' where Tina Fey's character makes a joke of the cliche.

  • Why didn't he use the original Bob Dylan version of "Blowin' in the Wind"?

  • The day he makes a top 10 is the day the world ends.

  • Almost all of these cliches mentioned were used in the movie "Godzilla: Final Wars".

  • critic: how long will it take before this cliche is so old that we're sick to death of it?

wierd song: the answer my friend is blowing in the wind

    me:WHOLLY CRAP EPIC WIN
