I grew up in the era where saban produced the power rangers show. He infused in the show a sense of epicness and great mix of comedy/action/drama. Even though the older shows lacked special effects they're timeless. The new PR shows are just not up to the saban level of quality.

I don't think Billy was ever replaced. There were only five Zeo sub crystals, so one of the six was going to sacrifice anyway. Also, when a ranger gets replaced, normally the departing ranger leaves in the same episode as the new ranger steps up. Billy was still around for most of the Zeo series, and was also offered the Gold Ranger powers before Jason.
