I think key to a beautiful aquarium is harmony. I think what trying to be capture here is the something very unatural co-existing in harmony. The stone, the details, the color, the setting, even the fish, they all harmonize.
"The trees turned out to be larger than the mountain. There is no such thing in nature.
In our case we will also use long-stemmed plants but in our case our rocks on a small distance from each other. The forest will look natural because the rocks are much closer to the front which makes it more plausible that the forest could be bigger than the mountains. Lets plant out the background plants.
Normally I like to use (some plants eloe hide?) But today I would like a variety of plants.
"There is no perspective (depth) in this tank, now do you see why Mr Handas scape does not have perspective?
It is hard to see which rock is the main one. The second important rock is places too close to the main rock and at the same level. These are our heights. We see them from afar. These are the basics of this composition. In the front Riccia, all is well so far. but them Mr Handa plants long-stemmed plants in the back. What happens? We see mountains on a background of a forest.
"Today we will plant the foreground plants first. For this I chose Hemianthus "cuba" it will go well with both the riccia and the other plants.
Mr Amano as inspiration(?) chose this work of Hironori Handa.
Lets take a look at Mr Handas scape. What is un-natural in this aquarium? Consider how Mr Handa builds the perspective.
In this aquarium the background doesnt look very good. The back and midground plants are too close together, and the rocks are grouped too close as well.
"You must clean the rocks of all substrate with a brush. It is also handy to use the same brush to even out the substrate. You need to make a clear line for the substrate at the front.
Around the larger rocks you can place a few smaller ones. Rocks should be selected in a way so that it feels like a single whole.
@lazycat5000 If your in the states it can be hard to aquire 've heard of gettng it from ebay but i've heard alot of complaints about snails. The best place I know of is brianstropicals but last time i checked his site he was out until his grows out enough to propagate again. The only other place you might find it is from hobbiests on aquarium forums.
I'll translate... In the beginning they were talking about the stones, which stone is better (2 big one's and afterwards smaller one's. , choose your stones wise, they must have the same color, make sure the stones don't have any substrate on them (clean them up) and that the subtrate is against the window. Set the ston's up so they give a certain scenery. Then it's better to use Cubic stones, the rond one's are harder to tie wires on them. The basic principe is to show where the MAIN stone is
nice documentation.

Hope this helps someone :)

"Now we have to prepare a large amount of little rocks for anchoring. Its best to use square stones, its hard to wrap string on round stones.
We will place the decorated (planted) rocks around the large stones.
Who did this rock? (laughter)
For this not to happen you need to wind the string tightly.
My helpers are preparing the rest of the plants for planting.
In an aquarium with (something) its best to plant the plants (in some sort of plan, I couldn't understand the word).

Now we can pour in the aquasoil.
So what do you think?

Its in Russian, so I will try to translate it in more detail
"Lets choose stones. This one is the nicest so it will be the main rock.
Next we need to choose a smaller rock. This one is too small. It would be best to find a rock that is more elongated.
In the bottom we can place smaller rocks. This will help the viewer focus on the center (or focus) point of the composition.
Be attentive when installing the rocks, they need to be all of one colour and --
it cuts off. Will continue in next post

which plant is it? the one they tie to the sone??
7777hannan 11 months ago
@7777hannan That is riccia moss, probably the "fine" type when compared to the stuff I have. Bright light is key to get it growing.
