• the video has mono sound, correct?

  • deRVAAAAAAAADA

  • you need a cooler the size of a fridge to cool it down with that many cores. I think you can cook egg with it!

  • I'm guessing that it can't do x86 style instructions?

  • The implications of computing like this, will require everyone to really "change."

Most people are confused by legacy and current technology.

The technological divide is increasing at an exponential rate. Digital citizens have the benefit of higher quality, better indexed information. Information tends to double faster for yourself the more digital you are.

Law of Accelerating Returns is wicked.

  • Is it a coincidence that all three of these are Indians?? or is the chip being designed in India?? India Inside...

  • yeah, but can it run Crysis?

  • That prototype was 90nm. They need to shrink it down to at least 45nm.

  • break that thing,nao!

  • Come on, Intel. When are we going to see this? Geez... Watch, it won't come out for YEARS. It's supposed to be out in 2 years, but... I don't know...

  • Teraflop Porn download

  • INDIAN!!!

  • i wonder if it can divide by zero?

  • 50amps per cable god damn, no wonder chernobyl had a meltdown!

  • Oh I love those multi-core computers that will come in the near future. :) Realism and detail in games is very important. I hope that they change those poly-plane made trees in games soon to realistically rendered trees with real branches and leafs. Subsurface scattering and real lighting is also something that I am optimistic about to see in the near future. No sharp edges on rocks etc... It would be awesome to play games that look like the most beautiful Maxwell Render pics.

  • This CPU id pwned buy the NVIDA Tesla GPU

    240 stream processor

  • Comment removed

  • @Ryantron9000 nope its not, do ur research

  • fake

  • @IONxMAN lol a computer like this can process any video hardware render he wants.. lol u dont need anygraphic card to run crysis in this computer.. i guess this core with 64 Gb of ram wouldnt need graphic cards any more.

the software and hardware process of it would be the same has having 50 x HD4850 radeon

  • wtf .. it only needs 62 watts

  • This thing would crush Crysis O_O

    Actually it wouldn't :(

Your video card would be such a bottleneck.

  • Is this the chip they used in The Terminator?

  • nah that one generated its own power

  • No it didnt

  • haha ok thanks for correcting me then =p

not a real terminator fan here

  • awesome i can't wait to spend $12,000 on a super computer that can never reach its full potential because i will ever use more than 8ghz of computing power...

  • thats plain bullshit mister

what makes you think games and other processes won't evolve past that ?

    look at hard drives

    recently i saw a thread from 2003-2004

"OMG they are making games way too big these days ... 2 gigs wtf?"

compare with the size of games only 4 years later ... age of conan for example.. it requires 27gigabytes of free disk space. today, age of conan is still an exception, but for how long?

    technology evolves... live with it

you WILL need it someday to run "simple" processes

  • Im not saying this achievement is a bad thing, it is just unrealistic and unnecessary. This is just a game to intel because AMD came out with a 60 core processor, so they just had to beat that. To put it more simply, its child's play. Think realistic, make one core more powerful instead of wasting your time on making 80 of the same chip. its worthless....

  • I think the P4 was in the right direction, and duel core was ok, but thy just keep adding cores. I have to say they have gotten smarted on the i7 using Quickpath in order to transfer data quicker, but that is about it.

  • WaKaKaka

  • @TheVintageGamer This time for intel. She should dance it naked and do some doggy positions thistime too.

  • The problem is they cant just keep increasing the frequencies on chips, so having multiple cores and using hyper threading is the most logical way of increasing cpu through put.

  • Yes that is correct, BUT the core 2 duo and core 2 quad models do not utilize any type of hyperthreading technology similar to the Pentium 4; However, i wrote is comment like months ago, and sice then intel has become smart and has integrated a similar technology to their new line up the "i7" which utilizes similar if not the same hyperthrading technology as Pentium 4, and added another type of hyper transport called "Turbo Boost." So PTIUM4 WAS IN THE RIGHT DIECTION, who gave me 4 thumbs down:(

  • Sorry I misunderstood your comment. You made it sound as if the P4 in general was the way to go, I didn't understand you were just talking about threading etc. ie high frequency single core chips instead of lower clock multicore chips.

  • yes, this is true, i am known to be unclear at times. Sorry for the misunderstandings. I like to converse in arguments with intelligent people such as yourself =)

  • aw shucks thanks. lol. =p

  • intel i-7 has alot beter core acertucre than intel 80 core and i-7 came out in 2008 80 core ins,t coming out untill 2012 wtf.

  • @zeinbrug it's a prototype. hurr

  • who else would be still happy after 12 hours of programming?

  • can't wait till some extreme OC'ers get that on LN2 and phase. do yourself a favor and do a video search of "shamino"

  • now play some games on this!!

  • Laba labala laba Taj Mahal Badalandabad

  • 80 cores of power drainage and overkill, watch city lights dim out across the nation when you turn that chip on.

    cores is expensive overkill.

  • They said in another video they use around 66 watts. the same energy used to power standard desktop computers. (this is in 5 yrs)

  • they said in this video each cable supply 50 Amperes, that is less than 66 and is 50x1.2=60,but there are a boundle of them in this video......I wonder that is why eatporn say city lights ........XD

  • one word....INSANITY

  • that factory is in isreal

  • wow, they have had it to almost 2 teraflops and 6 Ghz. Can't wait to get one of these =)

  • wow how would crysis be ..must be like 60fps strike with just one gpu lol

  • how many fps dos doom 3 get. come on run a 3d game on it and show us the benchmark lol.

  • i say intel is bettah

  • Wellcome to the singularity age! the transformation and the autovolution of the humankind

  • There is some nice innovation going on with the interconnection. Otherwise it looks like many existing higher level systems architectures are making it to an embedded level.

I think the largest research and therefore innovation for tera+ flops is actually in the area of quantum computing.

  • a coz to jest?

  • There is a few things most people are forgetting one these are not x86 cores and two well it can't run any program as it has no memory controller.

It can't run general purpose software either as it's not really a general purpose processor but a vector processor.

Lastly it's just one TF of vector operations GPUs already perform at this level now.

This is mostly marketing BS and spin.

There is a very similar product called the kilocore that already is on the market.

  • what you must be kidding me tellme more please i want to upgrade but for something good i was thiking in amd i always have intel i know amd is better but intel is resistant the computer in witch i am typing this message has been turned on non stop 9 months evga motheboard is crap chinese since i beleave in germans and japanese and i am not german and not japanese

  • well , this is just a demonstration of a prototype , sure might just be used as a xeon chip on release but in MANY years we might have that , or just still have quad core but at much higher speeds, who knows , im in anyhow

  • OMG With just 100 million transistors you have teraflop performance? this is amazing. guess how much 8 of them can do in a Mac Pro.

I think that AMD will be ruined by Intel.

  • pwns PS3 by a thousand times, nd also indians are seen more than americans in technology companies! seriously

  • pwns the ps3 cell , buhahahaha

  • Only 100 million transistors?! Or do they mean 100M transistors per core? Because otherwise that chip would never be able to hit close to 1 Tflop or 1.6.

  • too many indians at Intel... it's unhealthy !

  • LOL

  • LOL!

  • heh no wonder you cant understand the Tech Support of Microsoft/intel lol!

  • LOL LOL LOL LOL omg too funny

  • Great, but could we also get a feature which would take just tiny amount of transistors: random generator that is based on physics instead of pseudo-random numbers by software? (hardware pseudo-random generator _might_ be good addition too...)

Actually 4-32 physically random parts, when their output is computationally combined to 1 random bit per clock cycle.

  • I'm inddiannn, yess sirrr .. please come again.. aasdasdad asd as dasd

  • lmfao

  • Very cool and nerdy. I wish I understood how it worked....

Also, "teraflop" has no meaning. FLOPS is FLoating-point Operations Per Second, so leaving the S off means it's FLoating-point Operations Per which is silly. Sorry, pet peeve.

  • good 1 but the guy in the video speaks it right but only the "poster" of this video has comitted a mistake

  • only 5ghz????

  • What did you expect?

If you knew much about processors you would know there is more in efficiency than clock speed.

  • indeed , efficiency = low temps= more power

  • I wonder how many folding@home points that would process a day ...

  • We Indians are the best.you see all these researchers are indians and Indias contribution is phenomenal and Americans i say to you that we have the talent and you have the resources never will youll ever give credit to we indians for contributing for developments like these.

  • yes you are great researchers but u suck at customer service thats for damn sure lmao

  • So true... if not at everything, here in the UK.

  • that factory is in isreal

  • no it said in Hillsboro,Oregon. at the beginnig of this clip,i drive by there in 1997,at that time they are mass with X86 in there .....

  • it's an artificial brain.

  • No it isn't.

  • Watch the video. It acts like an artificial brain.

  • Oh god wait.

Why am I even arguing with a transformation fetishist furry? gtfo

  • Bad form, old man. Stick to the topic. I see very little resemblance to an actual brain.

  • See, even intel use Veroboards with their first bodge-up inventions.

Seriously, These men are the heros of our time. They should be like pop stars. They are inventing the future for the human race. (but I bet they still don`t get laid. Girls if you see one of these men. It is your duty to the human race to have sex with him as a reward for his work).

  • As one of these men who are designing the processing fabric of the future, I heartilly second your suggestion.

  • Cell BE @ 3.2GHz 90nm does ~214 Gigaflops in SP Floating Point.

And its made of one PowerPC + eight vectorized processing units, the SPEs.

  • quick question, does this mean that the Cell Broadband engine (which runs at nearly 2 teraflops) actually matches, or (because of the estimation) exceeds this 80-core chip? If so... I am amazed... But it is hard to say which of these chips would be better in a personal computer.

  • you idiot the whole ps3 runs at 2 teraflops that includes the graphics card. The cell engine only puts in 214 Gigaflops.

A Nvidia 7900 Quad SLI does 6 Teraflops

  • There is no way thats is true, since the 8800GTX has ½ Tflop of maximum peak performance, these Tflops are biased and will never be achieved (only possibly 1/10 of the maximum peak)

  • That might be at it's best in driving more or less autonomous cars (like in grand challenge)or boats. Secondly at flying planes, controlling walking/running robots and controlling textile+wire handling robot arms&hands.

  • That isnt normal 80 core o_´
