  • You missed the sneaky bit.... I spin the handle, then press the release button to throw the reel out of gear. This is hard to spot on the video.

  • @fox22250

at first i actually thought you did that but when i could'nt see you do it i was thinking there was something wrong with mine, by the way much thanks for the quick reply

  • hi in your video when you spin the handle of the reel the spool runs freely even when the handle stops but on my 7ht the spool stops as soon as the handle does is this right or is my reel broken

  • both bearings are the same asweel.

  • Your reel is probably newer than mine, hence the shielded ball races. Trickle a couple of drops of oil into the gap now and again. Lubrication isn't critical; just make sure that the bearings aren't left for so long that they dry out.

  • hi again hehe, i just want to check im oiling my bearings right. In your vid it looks like you can see alot off little balls in the bearing but on my 7ht its just a thick silver ring and the only bit that moves is the smaller thin ring on the inside so i try and put a few drops of oil in the small gap where the thick ring meets the moving thin ring, am i ment to be taking something out? also is a few drops enough? thanyou.

  • How often should you oil up the bearings?

  • I oil my reels about once every six fishing trips - or about every 100 casts.
