(general question for any kind or T) hey, I love watching your videos when I think about my tarantulas, i have two Ts. but my main question is, How do you know if your T is in a sexual mature stage? and that question goes for any type of tarntula. if you can answer that, thanks man! My Ts: B. smithi mexican red knee (young!) about and 1-2 inch maybe 3. still don't have red knee color yet.

Ive never mated a T yet but maybe with more experience I would be able to. Love your vids man, even the old ones i always find myself watching.

The answer is yes, but arguments are usually against it. People say that we've barely even made a dent in the tarantula world. There are over 900 different species of tarantula that have been discovered, and less than a third are actively available in the hobby. Mixing species would only confuse everyone.

I have to go research now. I watch your vids with my 3 yr old son. He LOVES them. I am do not get the mechanics of spider mating and I is bugging me (pardon the pun). I have to go do some learning! BTW took the son to the local reptile store in Fairview Heights. He was head over heels. His daddy was not quite so enthusiastic. You could see several of the T's burrowed down in the web tunnels. It was really awesome to see them so close.

I saw a vid where the female attacked the male and I assumed killed it? Does that happen often?

Also if you where to borrow a male from someone to breed with your female and she killed him, is there a procedure? Is it your responsiblity to pay for the dead male?

IDK I just have seen lots of breeding vids with *borrowed* males and have always wondered what would happen if something like that did occure.

It does happen on occasion and if the male was borrowed, then the original owner is out a spider...and if no sac was produced, they are out that as well (typcially the owner of the male gets a percentage of the sac). I personally don't do them too often - I prefer to just buy the males. I'd feel bad if someone sent me their male and got nothing in return because he was killed before he could do his job...
