His shot was off too! look at his 2nd shot in the tenth frame. Flush pocket shot, his third shot was a light hit that didnt carry, you cant blame that on a fan. He was looking for an excuse to his failure. I respect him but that wasnt the way to handle that at all.
As an admitted armchair bowler, I'll say one thing on the idea of distractions. If as bowler yells at some photographer messing around, it's OK because they're both professionals. But to go after a fan is ridiculous. If those fans weren't there or if we didn't watch on TV, these guys wouldn't be able to make a living as pro bowlers. They'd be duffers like me messing around at their local lanes. I don't blame Pedersen for getting sore, but he's a pro, he should be able to keep it to himself.
Pedersen definitely overreacted but you have to admit when you're on TV and it all comes down to one strike it's gonna be stressful. Even someone moving in the background can throw you off enough to make you miss your shot. I once saw Wes Malott stop shortly after he started his approach because a camera guy was moving a lot.
where do guys like pedersen bowl? even the pros have to go through qualifying with tons of bowlers right next to them for three days straight to even get on TV. Isn't that more distracting than a guy in the dark on the second deck during a stadium TV final?
Too bad Duke didn't dance around like Ernie Schlegel and rub it in Pedersen's face a little harder. That's a real class act, blaming your failure on some fan in the stands Pedersen. When you get to that level distractions like that shouldn't have any impact on what you're doing. You should be concentrating, not acting like a baby.
@kennedy22384 he kinda deserved to lose it if a little noise caused him to mess up his shot. you cant blame your shot being bad because of somebody in the crowd.
I'm gonna mark this day down in history... I completely agree with every comment I've read here. You people are ALL geniuses!!! And you all have manners, as you are WAY too nice to this turd that won't flush.
@Astromchaser Why would you write the exact same thing that is the top comment? I never understand when people do that, as there is a like button after all.

This fucking Pederson is a moron, the stupid asshole blames everybody for ;his mistake, yet when he strikes he dont give credit for the fucking audience for for moving, he s a real cocksucker, he should just go home and fuck a dog. Asshole !
man randy needs to quit b*tchin. hhahaha. i mean, i understand u work the whole week to get to that point and all, Im just saying if you call yourself a professional, but you cant zone stuff out and make that 1 last shot... then damn you just dont deserve it. that said, this made me laugh too hard xD
I didn't hear anything either. He must have sonic ears to hear whatever it was. lol And true, i agree with you there, if he'd gotten a strike, he'd said nothing about it. Those PBA Tour guys have to have complete quietness when bowling for huge amounts of money & bragging rights. Bowling and Golf have something in common, gotta be quiet & concentrate, but Basketball?, No, make ALL the noise ya want. LOL But, Bowling will ALWAYS be my fav. sport eveR!
Never have liked Pedersen . I'm still trying to figure out why he and rob stone pronounce amateur, (amadure). I've looked it up in several dictionaries and nothing.
I don't care what happened. These guys are supposed to be the best bowlers in the world if one little noise deters them from performing what makes them so great? Again, you all bowl in leagues that are noisy, if we waited silently for everyone to shoot, it would take a year and our sport wouldn't exist. I thought the whole thing was supposed to be about excitement.
People watch PBA now days and say that bowling isn't a sport because you don't see anyone jumping and screaming.
He threw the ball right where he wanted and didn't flinch. He to blame somebody. The class act was a BS way of making an excuse for a bad break on the seven. Redicoulous.
noise is part of being a professional athlete, because people come to watch you and pay to see you play, in every other sport you have to deal with it
wheter it be the noise or not I deal with all kinds of yelling in my leauge everybody is moving. Also if i was the noise was for real what about the pins reracking in the background or the bowling balls clacking when they comeback from the ball return and 1 last thing what if there was some buzzing from the ac or heator come on pros work through that all the time
@davemoore52266 you dont need pure silence, but when you already have pure silence, you're expecting it to be silent on your approach. Its just like flashing a camera at someone only its not as bad.
@davemoore52266 Its not the noise. When they set up for some of these tournaments, they seat people down the sides of the lanes. I have seen some were it is just a two lane set up and people sit all the way down the side to the pin decks. He was probably catching a glimpse of the guy moving around on his approach.
A lot of class? really Randy? come on...the audience is part of the sport...why do u think football teams record crowd noise and play it during practices? So they can be ready for game time..Randy if you can not handle the pressure of the crowd...then quit bowling..oh wait...you have, thanks.
@wiiman0001 Bowling takes more concentration than football. Bowling requires complete focus on every single element. In football, you don't know what going until the snap.
@gorillaguy1000 in bowling tourneys such as these, you will have 300-500 people, in football stadiums, the players must get used to the sound of 100,000 screaming fans, om guessing you have never played football before, i bowl, im not saying it doesnt take concentration, becuz it does. But Randy needs to be a pro and deal with it like all the other pros do. Randy just looks for excuses why he doesn't bowl good, when in fact, it is because he sucks. What you said about football, is false.
I Thought he still threw somewhat of a decent shot even though he claims he got distracted. It just didnt carry well for him, Duke looked a little embarassed by the whole scene pedersen put on.
I know Randy personally, he is an amazing bowler... and he's a classy guy. That line he was playing is a very difficult one to play, all you armchair bowlers have never even seen 45 feet of oil...
Randy Petersen is a great commentator. It is annoying if there is movement and you just see it when you are throwing. If i bowl during league play and thye were nice enough to book a childrens birthday on the next lane rather than a lane further away it totally ruins the concentration that they just run out on the lane durng your approach.
Pedersons acting a bit noobish here. Its different having a camera making sounds or movement in front of you. Blaming the audience for a fatal miss is the worse way to work your famous up. Nope, you could have done better, even if you lost, mr Pedersen.
Excuses excuses, Randy. You're never going to have total silence and stillness at a live event. If he struck, he'd said nothing. Be a man and take your medicine.
so are you the twat that polishes Randy's balls or what??? Let me just put it like this, there have been thousands of pro bowlers, and there have been hundereds that were in similar situations and only cry baby Randy is on youtube bitching about someone moving.
Now about being an arm chair bowler, you up for a friendly game?? Im in Temecula California, if you are anywhere in the so cal area and would like to step out from behind your keyboard

@LASportsFan4Life Well, Well, Well....I won the lottery about 4 years ago for 13.2 mil. So as far as the "pussy" making more money than I will ever see...er, NO, I DON'T THINK SO.....
@LASportsFan4Life Obviously not as much time as you do scoping the blogs like Lindsey Lohan's mother trying to find people you can argue with..................
we all bowl league with people moving around us.. people on the other side of the lanes open bowling yelling or whatever.. got to concentrate Randy.. but thats why you are talking about everyone else bowling now.. YOU SUCK!!
@MrBalderas05 but also you have to remember bowling leagues are on house shots which are easier than PBA shots and also when you're bowling league you rarely find yourself needing a strike for $100,000 and an exemption to the PBA tour
All of us love to jump on Randy for yelling at a kid, but you know what? They all do it. Just about every bowler who's been on TV at some point has gotten on a fan for missing a shot. Personally, I don't understand it, because that's the first thing you're taught when learning to bowl is concentration, and, personally, I'm used to bowling in situations where people don't understand the rules. But as bad as it was for him to yell at a kid, stop getting on Randy. They ALL do it.
My dad was at this tournament, and was sitting in the middle, in the back of the areana. He said that where Pedersen pointed to yell at the fan was about 35-40 feet from him, and there was no noise at all. Go Norm!
Sorry guys you can't even imagine this pressure. This crap means your LIFE if you're not already exempt fot the next season. If that guy messed him up then it meant his exemption, basically.
Randy has no class. Blame your loss on someone else. Fuck you Randy. I'm glad he lost because of all the horrible comments he makes announcing. Go to hell Peterson.
They should keep stats on choking in TV Bowling Tournaments and there is NO DOUBT Barnes is #1 when it comes to choking. This guy is a total choke artist and I would say the #2 Choke Artist is Randy Pedersen.
what i think alot of people fail to realize that although it was a pocket hit, it was lite, if u look at his previous ball and the last one, he got to far right which made it lite. When ur dealing with a lite hit, your relying on pin action and he doesnt have the highest rev rate to create alot of pin action so therefore i think he was more frustrated that he missed his target right and lost on the last ball. I know thats what i would be most upset about.
Randy is a FAT ass douchebag and a cock chugger, I met him once and told him to go get fucked and he was a cock chugger, he pissed his pants cock chugger
In an arena setting the sounds are amplified. Even though it may be so slight of a sound to our ears, in the arena when its dead quiet, a pindrop is very loud to a bowler. (pardon the cliche)
As for the heckler... im sure people around him/her gladly pointed out to randy or at the very least looked at him/her out of natural curiosity, which tips randy off.
Considering, randy acted well... imagine if there were no cameras...
he needed to concentrate on the shot at hand; real pros have tunnel vision. Ever see jack nicklaus or dick weber act like an idiot like that ? no, thank you.
Listen at 0:29 You can here someone clearly cough (maybe on purpose) on his 2nd strike. But since it was FLUSH and "10 in the pit" he didn't bitch at all. But since the 3rd strike did not fall, he could blame the fan that yelled "jinx" right before his shoe squeaked.
i hear people screaming and people laughing like crazy and i still do well under pressure, but that was uncalled for, especially on national TV. He could of easily stopped but he just didnt make the right shot, the ball didnt carry.
he was looking to the person to the side of him way up in the crowd.....a person that was well behind the approach and could have not done anything to destract him
or maybe he has ears... you can hear someone make a noise in Randy's downswing. It's very faint, but there's no telling just how much it threw Randy off. You can't just stop the momentum of the ball when it's coming in the downswing. So for the people who claim that it was Randy's fault, show a little understanding and truly put yourself in his shoes. It was his tour card.
i can understand that; you make a good point. Maybe he noticed that the body language of that person suggested that it was them, i don't know. But regardless, it seemed intentional. If this happened to me, I'd probably be furious, but I wouldn't take it out on anyone without knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt who it was and that it was intentional. Randy, however, has had some misfortune with disrespectful fans in the past that made him like this, too.
@BowlerScott - Dude, I turned my speakers ALL THE WAY up and I couldn't hear shit. Even if someone had made a noise, the dude should be used to bowling with background noise...it's not like the whole tournament is played in silence. Just a poor LOSER
Bowling with background noise and bowling in complete silence broken up by one noticeable exclamation in the middle of your swing are not the same at all. I don't agree with how he handled it, but I do understand how important the shot was.
Really guys, look up some other videos of Randy. He was one of the biggest jokers on tour. Always laughing, smiling having a good time. If he says the dude moved, he probably did. Plus, like they said, it was for him to get his tour card back... that's not just a game, that's the man's job and future on the line. Oh well.
it would help if you turn your volume all the way up and use headphones for your computer. skip to 1:30 and you can hear someone ever so slightly say "boo" or something like that. i honestly still think its mostly randys fault though. after the first distraction he was probably focusing more on someone yelling in the crowd than a good shot on the last ball
i am not listening to you because you cant even compose a grammatically syntatic sentance. check your grammar and possibly someone might listen to your comment... retard.
WHOA!!! I've watched this video about 30 times, and I could never hear anything... I recently got a new computer (with great audio) and I turned my volume all the way up... And you can barely hear someone say what sounds like "boo" right as Randy is releasing the ball. I was skeptical for the longest time about whether or not anything actually happened, but I am certain now.
I don't think you can blame one person on your mistake, all sports professionals have to deal with distractions and pressure that's what makes a great sportsman
i understand that the bowlers need to concentrate and everything but he just caught a bad break with the solid 7. shit happens and it just was a bad break.
I would rather have the crowd chant my name, but thats me. I bowl better when theres a lot of noise. I've accustomed myself to havin lots of distractions when I bowl now
umm for 100grand Im not sure you would want all those people yelling but I dunno you could be crazy like that......for 100 grand and your career on the line I think id want total concentration lol
RP needs a good old fashioned butt whoopin'. He's not half the bowler that Duke was or is. I remember this disgusting display, and I never saw a bigger lack of sportsmanship in my life. He didn't even let Duke enjoy his win.
ok one it wasnt a bad shot he just got a bad break its not like he threw it in the gutter and becides look how high up he was pointing that couldnt have been in his periferial vision if his eyes was on his mark and if so he needs blinders
Randy's "career was on the line" because with a conversion here, he forces a sudden death roll-off with Duke. If he beats Duke, he earns JUST enough points due to his placement in the TOC to earn his tour exemption.
Randy could've stopped when the fan yelled "jinx". He wasn't even halfway through his approach. That's his own fault. Take the shot clock violation and recompose yourself.
The PBA Tour has a points system much similar to auto racing. The PBA tour takes allows the Top 50 bowlers in the points ranking every season to be exempt from qualifying into tournaments.
It just so happened that had Randy beat Duke here, he would've edged into the Top 50, just barely. Thus keeping him exempt for another season.
A lot of times the problems come from the stuoid people in the stands...They need to be quiet and keep their mouths shut. If I was the person in charge, I would have kicked that peron(s) out and banned them from that bowling center ever again. That's just plain stupidity...A lot of people don't think....
The fan yelled "jinx" in between the pinsetter noise around 1:29 and his shoe squeak at about 1:31. Unfortunate, but I don't like Randy Pederson. His humor is not enough to cover up his arrogance.
I hate those ass fucks that blow deer whistles in peoples approaches.

Personally, I don't understand it, because that's the first thing you're taught when learning to bowl is concentration, and, personally, I'm used to bowling in situations where people don't understand the rules. But as bad as it was for him to yell at a kid, stop getting on Randy. They ALL do it.
matrixphijr 1 year ago
My dad was at this tournament, and was sitting in the middle, in the back of the areana. He said that where Pedersen pointed to yell at the fan was about 35-40 feet from him, and there was no noise at all. Go Norm!
95hammerkt95 2 years ago 3
Pedersen just needs to admit Duke is better than he is...the best in my opinion. he has nobody to blame but himself for that shot.

If duke would have paid me 10k I would have fucked with pederson too haha

Sorry guys you can't even imagine this pressure. This crap means your LIFE if you're not already exempt fot the next season. If that guy messed him up then it meant his exemption, basically.

They should keep stats on choking in TV Bowling Tournaments and there is NO DOUBT Barnes is #1 when it comes to choking. This guy is a total choke artist and I would say the #2 Choke Artist is Randy Pedersen.
WillBackbone 2 years ago
what i think alot of people fail to realize that although it was a pocket hit, it was lite, if u look at his previous ball and the last one, he got to far right which made it lite. When ur dealing with a lite hit, your relying on pin action and he doesnt have the highest rev rate to create alot of pin action so therefore i think he was more frustrated that he missed his target right and lost on the last ball. I know thats what i would be most upset about.
sirchubbs32 2 years ago
how r u gona blame some1 behind u that u cant see randy is a douch bcausethe shot was in the pocket but all the pins didnt fall get over it

Considering, randy acted well... imagine if there were no cameras...
awall017 2 years ago
he needed to concentrate on the shot at hand; real pros have tunnel vision. Ever see jack nicklaus or dick weber act like an idiot like that ? no, thank you.
baseballeddie1177 2 years ago
Listen at 0:29 You can here someone clearly cough (maybe on purpose) on his 2nd strike. But since it was FLUSH and "10 in the pit" he didn't bitch at all. But since the 3rd strike did not fall, he could blame the fan that yelled "jinx" right before his shoe squeaked.

i hear people screaming and people laughing like crazy and i still do well under pressure, but that was uncalled for, especially on national TV. He could of easily stopped but he just didnt make the right shot, the ball didnt carry.

emptycorp 2 years ago
he was looking to the person to the side of him way up in the crowd.....a person that was well behind the approach and could have not done anything to destract him
1337ScubaTal 2 years ago
or maybe he has ears... you can hear someone make a noise in Randy's downswing. It's very faint, but there's no telling just how much it threw Randy off. You can't just stop the momentum of the ball when it's coming in the downswing. So for the people who claim that it was Randy's fault, show a little understanding and truly put yourself in his shoes. It was his tour card.
BowlerScott 2 years ago 6
he pointed someone out. how did he know that the sound came from that person. i know it was his exemption but still.
1337ScubaTal 2 years ago
i can understand that; you make a good point.
BowlerScott 2 years ago
@BowlerScott - Dude, I turned my speakers ALL THE WAY up and I couldn't hear shit. Even if someone had made a noise, the dude should be used to bowling with background noise...it's not like the whole tournament is played in silence. Just a poor LOSER
millystyle26 8 months ago
@millystyle26

Oh well.

i heard the noise
it would help if you turn your volume all the way up and use headphones for your computer. skip to 1:30 and you can hear someone ever so slightly say "boo" or something like that. i honestly still think its mostly randys fault though. after the first distraction he was probably focusing more on someone yelling in the crowd than a good shot on the last ball
ennieday1009 2 years ago 2
Compare to the first shot, he was lil bit of target
bizonaap 3 years ago
agreed bout 3 boards out probly a lil fast to no reason to blame someone else but the pros never want to look like it was there fault

i am not listening to you because you cant even compose a grammatically syntatic sentance. check your grammar and possibly someone might listen to your comment... retard.

"...cant even compose a grammatically syntatic sentance."
When you chew somebody out for bad grammar, you would be taken more seriously if you could figure out how to use a spellchecker. :)

i suppose i did make an error.
admitting that, i will also admit that you and your usage of prepositional phrases is inauspiciously feasible.
also, oldie but goodie, you may be mistaking this sight for a cure for alzheimer's, so run along and get that information!
Musicalbowlrkat300 2 years ago
BowlerScott 3 years ago
lol you made it sound like you got the new computer JUST to hear that.

I don't think you can blame one person on your mistake, all sports professionals have to deal with distractions and pressure that's what makes a great sportsman
alexdoherty1984 3 years ago

Why do the pro's get complete silence anyway? When we bowl on leagues we have to just deal with the background noise.

Cuz they are playing for more than just patches and pocket change prize money.

They should put blinders on Peterson and make him wear earmuffs.
Then he would have any excuses but himself for the light hit.

RP needs a good old fashioned butt whoopin'. He's not half the bowler that Duke was or is. I remember this disgusting display, and I never saw a bigger lack of sportsmanship in my life. He didn't even let Duke enjoy his win.

LDAproductions22 3 years ago
Thank you very much.
I knew about the point system.
But I couldn't believe that he hadn't enoug points.
HammerBowling300 3 years ago
Randy's "career was on the line" because with a conversion here, he forces a sudden death roll-off with Duke. If he beats Duke, he earns JUST enough points due to his placement in the TOC to earn his tour exemption.
Randy could've stopped when the fan yelled "jinx". He wasn't even halfway through his approach. That's his own fault. Take the shot clock violation and recompose yourself.
UVAtuba2007 3 years ago
He hasn't enough points?
But he was one of the leading players on tour.
Sorry, I don't finde anyhing in web.
What happend that he had not enough points??
HammerBowling300 3 years ago

DASamX5453 3 years ago
The fan yelled "jinx" in between the pinsetter noise around 1:29 and his shoe squeak at about 1:31. Unfortunate, but I don't like Randy Pederson. His humor is not enough to cover up his arrogance.
