possible opption? to stop the air from comming up the drain tube would be a p-trap. the same designe used under a sink to keep air from traveling back into the house. this designe is also used for water overflow draineg for a furnace, so that air and water is not sucked into the furnace. Hope this helps!
@h19v91 you can if you like? Plastic funnel, pvc pipe and fittings, two water containers, and a vacuum with a output connection/ high power hair dryer/ leaf blower
dude, vacuum has not the power of direct wind, you need a huge speed to create vacuum, and even then you won't gain so much power out of it. it isn't an efficient way to create energy
@215alessio I believe his Idea/ design goal is to lower the casualty rate of animals/ bugs. hints the cone shape to hopefully max airflow capability. so people go green to help save the planet, not just money :)
remindes me of the "solar tower" that was/ are planned for sahara.
@ 1st impression i would say that you need realy high wind speeds. if you going to build one, maybe try to combine it with the schauberger vortex topic.
another thought is, taking the example of the water, instead of using one big pipe wich needs lot of vacuum force, take a bunch of small tubes (capillary tubes), so the water offers less resistence in beeing sucked up.

Did you actually built a small scale prototype and tested you theory?

@MaintenanceMouse yep, maybe his concept can be used there were normal wind turbines are too dangerous.

Nice principle
I have an idea for a Capillarity bomb - BUT it takes 25 years to explode!
:)
Can we combine the two? lots of capillarity tubes assisted by the induced low pressure.
...AND if the funnels act as super light weight solar panels, we have a winner.
Don't forget to credit me.
ALL LARGE CHEQUES WELCOME.

nice idea. thanks for sharing it.

this looks good, I would love to see a prototype of it
