I would love the sheet music for this too. I used to play the pipes but my youngest sis still does and is damn good, he plays for a lot of weddings, played for mine, she does funerals and celebrations and parties as well. She would love this.
It's simple and anthemic. Yep, you need some appropriate lyrics. What emotional focus does the piece have for the composer? The words to fit this would fit the music best.
Emotional Focus. Hmmm Now thats an interesting idiom. Funnily enough, I came across this same phrase recently whilst wandering around Tate Modern (Lauren Otterbeins very colourful Quandrenasium of Life). All to do with Cognitive-shifting of the mind, so I believe
:O) I'm not a 'pseud' as Private Eye calls intellectual bluffers. I have written poetry and short-stories and the best word for the frame of mind I had in each piece came out as emotional focus. Weirdly, if you don't write down the words at the time of your creative mood, you can never really re-capture the flow and credibility that came with the muse. Notebook at the ready...
:O) No offence perceived. I was actually trying to excuse any pretensiousness on my own behalf. It's strange coming from a non-creative (artsy) background, as I do, yet stumbling in later life into a culture and vocabulary that is relevant to creative art. Although I am no longer in the 'jungle', I believe some of the jungle is still in me :O)
Hi john you now how to make te hairs stand my misses love's this peice f music you've done too and i would like to play it on my pipes can i buy this in sheet form please. Iain gordon.
Very nice indeed. I think the piece would be enhanced by side-drum pitch similar to that of the video by Winnie 9212 Feb 18 2008 (Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion the Scots Guards).
Great luck with your music. Love the bagpipes and you did an outstanding job!! The pipes has a way of calling my heart and you will go far with this kind of playing of the pipes!!! Great luck to you with your music!!
Hey John, good to see you on here. I have many of your albums (right back to the early FX20 days before the digital orchestra) and you were my hero when I was growing up and you were playing at Turners. I had started learning to play organ at age 9, then my grandparents took me to see you at Turners - you gave me my passion for electones and keyboards, something that lives forever to this day.
Hey John, thought I'd let you know that i figured this out by ear and played it at somebodys funeral. Of course pipes have a limited range and i couldn't get all the key changes, but for the most part I got it. Thank you for making something so beautiful in this world. This has to be the most moving piece of music i have ever heard.
Great, well done mate. I have a friend who was in the Australian Army and his company was affiliated to a Scottish regiment. There is nothing more stirring than pipes and drums.
I must say, you have some talent, even if it is on a keyboard and not a bagpipe. I am a member of a yahoo Panflute music group, and I think that we would all greatly appreciate a copy of the score, perhaps we can help get the word out about this incredible song. If you could make a new video with with the score as the video sequence, and the song playing at the same time, we can write it down and learn it, then teach others the song as well :) I will watch to see if you do a new vid. -Delkaoth
I think this is wonderful, so much so I want to play it at my wedding here in Brazil. ( yes I am from Scotland) Can any one tell me where I can get a cope of this great peice of music? Any help would be fantastic. Thanks.
Thanks for that! You are the first to notice, or at least make comment on the greyscale to colour transitions. I was also quite pleased with the photo timing during the 'bells tolling' and surge. - JOHN
I'm from Norway, and I loved this song. We have been visiting Scotland, and we lust loved it. Nice people! But, there is one thing I've got to say: Have all you people forgot one lovely bagpipe-tune - the most beautiful ever: Highland Cathedral. Mmm - nice! But this song was very good, keep on!
Very nice tune John. I was playing along to it with my pipe chanter and the tune extends beyond the range of the bagpipe and there is also difficulty with some of the notes are just not playable on the pipe due to its unique scale. Having said that I think you could modify the tune and make it work on the pipes. It would be a wonderful performance tune for a concert series. Regards, Hugh
as big as 'Mull of Kintyre'?...nope...bt big for sure...send a copy to the 48th Highlanders...here in Canada...or the O.P.P. pipe band...world renowned...let them give it a whirl...and keep composing 'cuz you're damn good...you will get noticed...but you GOTTA make 'em hear ya!...

From the first time I heard you play this in concert at Wimborne I could not get the tune out of my head - certainly a rival to Mull of Kintyre! The accompanying video is professional and most enjoyable. Anne B.
very interesting piece, lots of quality dynamics - a bit too much woddwind for my liking, but a least theres people out there who enjoy quality music eh?
What a 'catchy' melody ... extremely commercial too. I can see and hear this tune eventually being played by bagpipe bands, not only in Scotland, but the world over. Where is 'Glen Brae', by the way?
Beautiful country, beautiful music. I remember when we visited Edinburgh when I was abaord the "USS Milwaukee". A shipmate and I attended a concert by "the Royal Edinburgh Pipers". You should have seen the astonished look on everyone's faces when we saluted to "God Save the Queen". =Stefan=
This simple but incredibly catchy tune has just got to take off in a big way, especially if a well-known Scottish band get their hands on it. I can't get it out of my head - the melody just keeps going round and round .... wonderful. Reminds me of my homeland.
You are very talented... this just became one of my favourite tunes to listen to.
