Can u do a tutorial on how to create a character from scratch using reference images because the other ones suck they dont describe what they're doing.
@totopoo123 The leftmost "Tris" value shows you the amount of polys you have within your scene. The middle one is for the polys on the object(s) you have selected. The rightmost value consists of the number of polys in the faces that you have selected. Hope that helped :D
My only complaint: slow down, you speak a bit too fast and you move a bit too fast. Explain where some of the tools are you are using.. otherwise, this is one of the best tutorials out there, even better than some of the tutorials I've paid for!
thank you! This really help me so much! If only you could change your voice livelier a bit (I almost fell asleep) But anyway, thank you very much for posting this tutorial :D
@BearKlaw I'm not an expert, actually a complete beginner, but I know that when you select the Paint Skin Weights Tool and enter the Tool Setting Panel to active the Color Ramp there are a bar that shows the levels of the sequence of color for the level of the weight
By default its the blue is the lowest weight and the red is the highest level of weight before the white
I reward you one e-cookie for this great tutorial! Thanks

Great Tut, subbed ya. How would you make like ripples? As someone getting punched?
microTerminator2 4 months ago
@microTerminator2 I might sound like a complete idiot, but can't you just combine deformers and blend shapes and make a set driven key for it?

Great skinning crash course. Thanks heaps!

I don't know if this is in Maya 2011, but 2012 has Post normalization so you don't have to worry about Maya not knowing where to shift the weight to.
Schools rarely teach this stuff, which is very frustrating. I think I've learned more from Youtube and Digital Tutors than I did in school.

When using the painting skin weights tool, does the blue or the red have more of an influence on the joints?
