@ 2:40 is this guy color blind lol purple? Ive unboxed M710 blades and installed and they are orange that protect any of the IO connectors for the mezz cards and power and the same for any M1000e IO modules.
@McClover don't go with Dell, they are HUGELY overpriced, instead I would recomend that you build a PC and install windows server on it.. PM me if you want some more info on that.
You say that Dell servers are overpriced, yet, they are DEDICATED servers, and are designed to be reliable. A PC that you build will not last nearly as long as a Dell server. Also, these servers use Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors, which are SERVER processors.
If you would prefer to have somebody rack your servers (blades or otherwise) Dell does provide these services.
There was no intent to imply that you had to do this yourself. The intent was to show how easy it is and to have a little fun with the new server unboxing.
Gee, they let you have sharp things to play with? They don't us here. I think they are afraid that one of us might go cwazy.

I really like your server room layout, very clean and efficient design. More unboxing!

By the way that M905 is way better than my old Dell 2450 I had,big and bulky and not small and easy to handle like the M905 is.
Zorack10 1 year ago
For blade servers, you must have the associated blade chassis. In this case the M905 needs an M1000e chassis.
toddmuirhead 1 year ago
Is the chassis needed or can you run the server as standalone(with a power cord connected?)
Zorack10 1 year ago
@Zorack10 No you need the chassis, there isnt any way to connect a power cord to the back because its connectivity is 100's of pins for IO and Power

@airliasinc lol. You can still have Xeon and Opteron CPU's in custom built servers.

so does this imply that dell will just drop this off at your doorstep and let you do the rest? isn't this what a vendor is suppose to do?
ramse006 3 years ago
Whats wrong with racking your own servers anyway? I don't trust anybody with my investment and working around our existing online investments.
Plus its great fun and all part of the enjoyment of getting new gear in the rack!
