I've contemplated carrying a knife on me, as I live in a bad neighborhood...mainly for peace of mind, defensive purposes, not attacking purposes... for me, I'm already a extremely paranoid person as it is, so It's mainly a reaction (for now, logic speaking) to things I hear about that happen in my part of town, leading me to feel vulnerable, also, being a girl you know?... you just hear about REALLY callus, horrible things that prompt this response.

I think lots of people carry weapons now as defence. But the problem with that is that if people get into fights, then they have a weapon that they could easily misuse in the heat of the moment.

Knife crime has risen fairly rapidly here in the UK and there have been quite a few high profile cases of fatal stabbings. There have been lots of knife amnesties, too, but I'm not sure how much of an impact they're having...

I don't get those who feel the need to carry such things around, it does strike me as rather pathetic. It's creepy too, even if some say that it isn't because they want to hurt others, fact is, you shouldn't have to be carrying stuff like that at all!

Oh, yes! I do carry a knife as well... it does make me feel more secure. The main reason I carry one though is because I am a night person. So if I am out for a walk at night I always have it. Plus, a knife is a very handy tool to have. Many times I've needed it for random ass things. I'm not a person who is out to hurt someone. But I know that there are people who could be out to hurt you. So I just try to come prepared.

i know a guy who used to carry a stick outside of school. It was his weapon and he named it birtha. As for myself, i'm not into weapons- but a great way to keep youself safe while walking alone is by talking on your cell phone- this way if someone tries to harm you, you can quickly inform the person you're talking to , call for help for you while you're struggling for self defense.

Darien dude I carry a switchblade with me outside AT ALL TIMES! i live in Detroit, the crime capital of the Midwest. Crimes happen in broad daylight all the time around where i live, and our police force is TRASH. ive been robbed and almost mugged b4. its common 4 a detroiter to hav stared the grim reaper in the face a few times. u MUST b protected. most robbery crimes happen between 10am and 5pm and its better stab someone in the neck as opposed to the heart. dnt ask y i kno that. hehe.
