  • jesus, I can still remember watching this when i was 6 years old, the theme tune has stuck with me ever since, I didnt know there is a dvd of the prog, I had been tryin for years to get information to the show

  • This was one of the great series that we grew up with, kids weren't patronised by the media, the way thay are today. The shows of the day had a more mature approach, which is why they are still watchable.

  • I am looking for the name of a TV programme or film shown on British TV 1968- 1974 with... A dress in a tall glass case in a rear corner of a Victorian old ladies bedroom , she is sitting on a chaise lounge in the foreground, and warns a young girl who is admiring the dress, at the back of the room, on the facing left "not to open the case" .

But the girl does when the air rushes inside in a of basic technique of film animation /time frame - the dress dramatically and rapidly falls to pieces!!

  • cool intro. I'd really like to see this show, never been released in the US on DVD. i dont think.

  • Goodness me, must be around 40+ years since my ears heard this one !!!

  • this takes me back to my childhhood, they made some great shows for kids back then, sadly the bastards have wiped most of the tapes for this stuff, kids should watch some of this instead of all the pc bullshit they are forced fed with today.

  • Oh wow, I didn't know the song was the intro of a show (or used for). Now I want to watch the show :)

  • Hello i always thought this was called Tarot thanks for putting this on and bringing 41 years of frustration to an end... dont suppose you know who sung the titles do you?

  • It rings a bell in my mind but I can't remember for the life of me what it was about!

  • Michael MacKenzie plays Dainer in the Blakes 7 episode "Space fall",not to big a part though.

  • theme tune found in this CD....

    gp/offer-listing/B00008RH9T/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

  • @MusicManxxxxx

put the above link into amazon

  • So...... how many nightmares did this cause?

  • I absolutely love this theme song. ITV if you're paying attention, Ace of Wands would be the perfect counter programming to Doctor Who.

  • Imagine if you tried showing this sort of title on an kid's show in the US now, you'd be burnt a the stake!

  • @BlackMariaDownUnder

Interestingly, the DVD release is rated PG !!

  • WTF?

  • So excellent!

  • acid folk.

  • Is this tune considered "psy-folk" or is there some other term? I know I heard something like it but I can't put my finger on it.

  • Ah ! The memories...Ace Of Wands was just a brilliant series, I thought it was so cool and was gutted when it was taken off. Series One with Judy Loe was just amazing. Thankyou, Thames TV !

  • Amazing. I'm five again and it's a dark teatime and I'm watching this in next door's house. Incredible how something can just turn on a memory like a light switch.

  • i salute you. that made my day. genius!

  • I was 10 when this came out great period piece nothing is the same anymore

  • I am with you on this one!

  • Was this ever broadcast in the States?

  • No not shown in the States. The following series 'The Tomorrow People' was shown in the States in the 1980s on Nickelodeon.

  • Thanks for posting. Do you happen to have the episode that Tim Curry was in? It was one of his first TV acting gigs and it would be great to see!! He was on Season 1, Story 3 called Now You See It, Now You Don't. Cheers!!

  • I wish but I just have the intro. sorry.

  • tcfan123, all but Series 3 was erased by the studio and no longer exists possibly not even in 16mm monitor print form. A tragic loss in many ways

  • @tcfan123 Sadly that one is currently missing (along with the rest of the first two years of AoW). IIRC the master tapes were wiped sometime around 1973...

  • @tcfan123

Hi. If he was in the first season I'm afraid you have little hope of ever seeing it as nothing from the first 2 seasons exists any more having been wiped soon after transmission.

  • Wow! I used to love this show and thought he was gorgeous! Never thought I'd hear that theme tune again.....

  • Very 60s/70s phychadelic era music and titles. Very good this. Saw a snippet of this on BBC4's Children's TV on Trial the 1970s and I loved it. It made me wish I had lived in the 70s!

  • Ive got the DVD but its got a butchered intro!...

Can anyone tell me where I can get the full song intro?

I love it ! love it! love it!

and I still have a crush on Tarot.

Any clues to the where abouts of the theme , very appreciatted. Thankyou.

  • I'll look arround, Stay Tuned. :)

  • cheers ! Much appreciated.

  • @kehkehbia

If you go on to Amazon you will find the CD called "Magpie" and the theme tune is on that.. along with loads of other really great stuff from the era

  • @kehkehbia There is a compilation CD available called 'Magpie -20 junkshop pop ads and themes'. 'Tarot' the full version is track 18. I think I got my copy from Amazon.

  • @kehkehbia I downloaded a full version mp3 for free , from a site hosting TV themes back in 2002, It was actually released as a single by Andrew Bown back in the '70s , I can't rermember the name of the site but it should come up on a search engine if it still exists

  • Great intro.. I really want to watch the series now! They don't make them like this anymore.

  • I think he may have posted on the wrong vid!

  • The DVDs are well worth getting: all the remaining episodes, plenty of extras including the original cast taking part in a documentary filmed this year. Buy it! :-)

  • Already did. Stonking set!

  • There's also a yahoo chat group and an excellent web site. for the first go to yahoo (dur-hey!) and the second can be found via google.

  • where's the Thames ident?

  • It's on TV-Ark now. Kids tv shows ITV part

  • OMG I LOVED this show... DVD release? I'm all over that one!!!

  • wtf is this ??

  • and there was me thinking i'd imagined this .......

  • I liked his Mustang .......

  • Oh shut up you idiot. Back to your self-imposed BNP ghetto. Ironic that you praise a show based strongly on the values of individuality and tolerance.

  • I was only little too and have always wanted to see it again - and it is gonna be released on DVD in July-hope it is as good as I remember!!!

  • One of the best TV themes ever. I remember watching in on TV at the time.

  • Agree with all the previous comments - I was only 7 when this was shown but I've never forgotten it. They don't make kids (or any) programmes like this now

  • Wow, I remember this!

  • Out on DVD this year!!! YES!!!!

  • Fantastic! I'm still scared when I think of the Joker episode I saw when I was 8 or 9 years old, 35 years ago!!! Sadly it'll never see the light of day :-(

  • I'd love to see more of this show.I watched it in 1972 when I was 8 years old & it's remained in my memory ever since.'Tarot' was a 'mystery man' who enthralled kids with his charm. The scripts were complex & chilling.

  • anyone else have some clips from this series?

    was totally brilliant!

  • My favorite tv show ever. Please tell me someone has more clips or full episodes of this to post! 5 stars.

  • yes! This show scared the crap out of me and gave me bad bad nightmares. I want to see it again! And show it to my kids!

  • Brilliant intro, memories came flooding back all we need now is the rest of the show

  • i aint seen this for ages

    brings back gr8 memories

btw the composer of the teme tune is andy bown of status quo

  • Best kids theme ever bar none. Thanks!
