jesus, I can still remember watching this when i was 6 years old, the theme tune has stuck with me ever since, I didnt know there is a dvd of the prog, I had been tryin for years to get information to the show
This was one of the great series that we grew up with, kids weren't patronised by the media, the way thay are today. The shows of the day had a more mature approach, which is why they are still watchable.
I am looking for the name of a TV programme or film shown on British TV 1968- 1974 with... A dress in a tall glass case in a rear corner of a Victorian old ladies bedroom , she is sitting on a chaise lounge in the foreground, and warns a young girl who is admiring the dress, at the back of the room, on the facing left "not to open the case" .
But the girl does when the air rushes inside in a of basic technique of film animation /time frame - the dress dramatically and rapidly falls to pieces!!
I used to love this show but can't remember much about it. I am 40 now ! There was one programme a bit earlier that is bugging me. It was a creepy show where there was a round piece of plastic on a window and it was somehow magic ? Does anyone remember that show ?
this takes me back to my childhhood, they made some great shows for kids back then, sadly the bastards have wiped most of the tapes for this stuff, kids should watch some of this instead of all the pc bullshit they are forced fed with today.
Hello i always thought this was called Tarot thanks for putting this on and bringing 41 years of frustration to an end... dont suppose you know who sung the titles do you?
Ah ! The memories...Ace Of Wands was just a brilliant series, I thought it was so cool and was gutted when it was taken off. Series One with Judy Loe was just amazing. Thankyou, Thames TV !
Amazing. I'm five again and it's a dark teatime and I'm watching this in next door's house. Incredible how something can just turn on a memory like a light switch.
Thanks for posting. Do you happen to have the episode that Tim Curry was in? It was one of his first TV acting gigs and it would be great to see!! He was on Season 1, Story 3 called Now You See It, Now You Don't. Cheers!!
@tcfan123 Sadly that one is currently missing (along with the rest of the first two years of AoW). IIRC the master tapes were wiped sometime around 1973...
Hi. If he was in the first season I'm afraid you have little hope of ever seeing it as nothing from the first 2 seasons exists any more having been wiped soon after transmission.
Very 60s/70s phychadelic era music and titles. Very good this. Saw a snippet of this on BBC4's Children's TV on Trial the 1970s and I loved it. It made me wish I had lived in the 70s!
@kehkehbia There is a compilation CD available called 'Magpie -20 junkshop pop ads and themes'. 'Tarot' the full version is track 18. I think I got my copy from Amazon.
@kehkehbia I downloaded a full version mp3 for free , from a site hosting TV themes back in 2002, It was actually released as a single by Andrew Bown back in the '70s , I can't rermember the name of the site but it should come up on a search engine if it still exists
The DVDs are well worth getting: all the remaining episodes, plenty of extras including the original cast taking part in a documentary filmed this year. Buy it! :-)
Oh shut up you idiot. Back to your self-imposed BNP ghetto. Ironic that you praise a show based strongly on the values of individuality and tolerance.
Agree with all the previous comments - I was only 7 when this was shown but I've never forgotten it. They don't make kids (or any) programmes like this now
Fantastic! I'm still scared when I think of the Joker episode I saw when I was 8 or 9 years old, 35 years ago!!! Sadly it'll never see the light of day :-(
I'd love to see more of this show.I watched it in 1972 when I was 8 years old & it's remained in my memory ever since.'Tarot' was a 'mystery man' who enthralled kids with his charm. The scripts were complex & chilling.

I absolutely love this theme song. ITV if you're paying attention, Ace of Wands would be the perfect counter programming to Doctor Who.

Is this tune considered "psy-folk" or is there some other term? I know I heard something like it but I can't put my finger on it.

tcfan123, all but Series 3 was erased by the studio and no longer exists possibly not even in 16mm monitor print form. A tragic loss in many ways
