Does anyone know the name of the ethnic looking blade made by the Persian designer? He compares it to the Masad Ayoob blade but I couldn't catch the name.
I very much enjoyed your video very informative and clear,i cant wait for the spyderco native 5 looks very good I.M.O. i look forward to your next video.
Yes, SOME of the knives made in taiwan are nice, BUT NOT ALL. I have found MANY flaws in the fit and finish of taiwnese made knives or any thing else made by CHEAP overseas asian labor.
To say you would'nt mind all knives being made in taiwan is WRONG!
We need to support the AMERCAN worker by purchasing products MADE IN THE U.S.A. You, being a pilgrim, are out of touch with our current U.S. job rate. *!*
@neonightkiller Indeed, probably not ALL, but the Taiwan-made Spydercos (except the unavailable Chicago & Cat) are in my experience all excellent, in fact they are amongst my best made production knives.
By the way, If I were following your reasoning, I should not buy ANY Spyderco or any other American brand but only buy European brands like Böker, Eka, Helle... All good brands but that would be limiting: I prefer to focus on variety, quality and quality/price, no matter where it's made...
@MrDagon007 as jobs are shipped off to low wage countries, the knife companies will continue to lose customers in the U.S.A. because 1.) we are looking for a quality product, and 2.) the wages that would have bought a quality product are now gone.
@neonightkiller Maybe you are out of touch with the cheap overseas asian labor because Taiwans labor is not cheap at all. By the way my Tawanese Spydercos have NO flaws at all but I have a US made Para 2 quite difficult to deploy because of a overbent liner.
Great review !! it`s nice that you did this for the rest of us .....the bad part is we have to wait till we can get these jems in our own hands ,loved the Techno
I'm still waiting for Spyderco to make a more manageable size titanium framelock. I love the fluted Ti military, I just can't carry something that big. If they took the size down to the Para size I think it would be a home run.
i really enjoy the current stretch 2. the blade shape is perfect for me. a straight one would not do the stretch justice. its like when they made the cara cara more endura like and straightened out that blade also. how did you get the honor of attending. do you have an important government job there? thanks for the glimpses of newstuff. wow
@PavlovSandor 100 Spyderco fans could attend, it was announced on the Spyderco forum, and then just a matter of registering timely. I agree about the current Stretch 2, changing the blade shape would make it "just another Spyderco".
All of these are very interesting, both in design and innovation. You have done an excellent job documenting and explaining these knives. They are quite pleasing, and there's few I don't like.
Thanks for putting all of these online - I've seen a few pics around the internet but nothing like this comprehensive coverage of the knife show. It seems like Spyderco intend to make this another expensive year for me producing ever more great blades. The idea of a Stretch with a Paramillie blade appeals to me particularly if it comes with the excellent stretch frn handle.
The Techno has got to be an Jens (Yens) Anso design! I love his work! I've already have all his other collaborations with Spyderco and Boker. This one is a must on my list!
...I'm also really interested in that Blue lightweight flat-ground Manix 2. The Byrn Tern looks nice as well - probably pick that up while I'm at it. Ooo, that Junior is really interesting. That Carpenter has some Tenacious-like curves to it - nice. That Squeak looks like another very cool, inexpensive slip-joint.
Wonderful preview of some very interesting designs, surely something for Spydie fans to be excited about and wonderful insights to the upcoming product coming from them, thanks MrDragon and thanks for all your help.
Vallotton is designed perfectly for an auto, offset pivot and heavy stop pin (studs) . Mr V, I believe does reworks of production knives to auto so it perhaps is no accident.
I believe that Mr NutFancy is the man responsible for jimping and clips everywhere on production knives, whether they serve aesthetically or are actually necessary.
@nuby86 Die ik ken zullen meschien niet op youtube zitten, maar wel op messenforum punt en el. Veel van het forum kom ik ook wel tegen op meetings. Daar leer je ook veel van ;) En bedankt! :D
Mr Dagon, all I can say is Wow! That was a great preview of the the upcomming Spyderco products. Lots of nice knives comming out, but I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a 'Sage 4' in the mix. As always, your insights into the the designs were very helpful and I saw at least a couple that I HAVE to buy. Thanks for the time that you take to share your views with the rest of us, and please keep them comming!
So many wonderful knives from Spyderco this year! I have an original Ayoob and will buy the new version. Also the Lion-Spy, the Lum Tanto, perhaps the Tuff and the Yojimbo 2. It's going to be a very expensive year!
That Ayoob looks like the perfect folding fishing-knife :) Great vid, thanks a lot for sharing, now i know that I have to save a lot of money this year :)
love the manbug, blue g10, very cool, and that squeak reminds me alot of the chigaco, and i love the grind on the dragon fly h1, looks really nice, cant wait to see these roll out!
I've heard that the tuff was in cpm 3v, the tang said s30v. I hope it's 3v, that'd be sweet. Whichever they use though I'm excited for it

I don't care about SD either. I just love the S30V Wharncliffe blade with a compression lock and amazing ergos. It's gonna be great.
