  • For the English Method do you twist the Yarn when you switch the colors?

  • @LatingGirl No, there's no need. As long as you knit the first stitch with both yarns, you'll be fine.

  • How is it that some people have a solid color border? Do they leave them open or something? Also is there a way you can show how to add a third color into the mix for a couple rows and how to add panels to each other without actually knitting them together and having that single ugly row in each panel?

  • @RE2LeonS Great questions! I'm actually not sure how people make a solid-color border :( I think that for adding in a third color you would just join as if you were adding a new ball of yarn and leave one of the other colors on a time-out while you use the new color. You could also carry the third color in between the front and back panels, as long as you moved it to the front or the back with the rest of the yarn. I'm not sure what you mean about the ugly row between the panels -

  • @LiatMGat just don't slip the first and last stitches knit like normal but twist the main color under the other color. you don't need to do anything different on the end just knit and purl like the rest of it. i hope this makes sence : /

  • @RE2LeonS Can you post your question with more detail on knitfreedom (dot) com / forum? Thanks!

  • OOOO So that's how the border occurs. Here I'm double knitting for the first time using a pattern and it's not connected >_<

  • @RE2LeonS Oh, yeah - I did that my first time too! Now you know ;)

  • 7:19 - CAPTAIN, CAPTAIN, WE'RE LOSING TRANSMISSION!!

  • @pantiara2 I know the transmission gets a little lost in the end; it was somehow corrupted. Please check out the higher-quality, crazy ending free, videos that I created at knitfreedom (dot) come / classes / double - knitting :)

  • @LiatMGat Thanks, I figured out how to begin my first double knitting project without knowing what the corrupted part was talking about. Thanks for posting these. Very easy walkthrough!

  • @pantiara2 I'm so glad that you were able to figure it out, even with the corrupted ending! I'm more than happy to keep these videos posted for everyone who wants to learn about knitting. :) Have a wonderful weekend.

  • At the end the vid is a bit wild, but I like how you walked us through it...very easy to comprehend, thank you for sharing.

  • @kdmika Thank you so much for the compliments. I'm glad you liked the video. I know it got corrupted at the end, but you can check out better-quality videos at knitfreedom (dot) com / classes / double - knitting :)

  • The whole last minute or two of the video becomes unusable. Did you know that when you uploaded it?

  • @sockmonkeyhead I know, it got corrupted somehow. I've got better-quality videos at knitfreedom (dot) com / classes / double - knitting

  • @AmyW1205 No, when you turn the scarf, you switch from knitting to purling and vice versa. I have a bunch more videos and patterns at the link I gave @mollegog below - I hope they help you! Thanks for your comment!

  • oh no! I missed the last 2 minutes because the video went static. But I think I get whats happening. Thanks for posting this.

  • @mollegog Oh yes, I'm so sorry about that! I've tried a million times and there's nothing I can do about the messed-up sound! But I did make a new video series with all HD vids with perfect sound: knitfreedom . com / classes / double - knitting (remove the spaces). I hope this helps!

  • I just started knitting a few months ago and I thought that this was going to be super hard to learn but after watching this I am going to go for it. Thanks for posting this video.

  • @angel827005 Thank you for watching! I am excited you learnt it and will be trying this soon :)

  • @angel827005 I also have a complete video tutorial on double-knitting if you are interested! knitfreedom . com / classes / double - knitting

  • @hotdog1997 I have a video on adding a new ball of yarn - just search my channel for "Double Knitting" (I can't paste the link here) and you will find it. I also have a full Double-Knitting video course at knitfreedom (dot) com / classes / double - knitting.

  • WOO HOO! I just learned how to double knit after only 3 months of knitting, all because of you and this video series... I'm so proud and excited to continue! My mom has wanted me to make her a soft and warm blanket since I began self-teaching to knit, and tonight I've begun it. I can't thank you enough.

  • @questyning I am so delighted! Double knitting after only three months??? Keep up the good work!!

  • This video was so easy to learn from! I am so glad that you put this up.Thank you :)

  • @dizzlekrew Aw, thank you!!

  • I have been knitting for 30 years and this is one of the techniques that I still want ot lean. Thanks for making it so clear.

  • @firechicke06 Aw, you're so welcome!! I'm glad it is helping you learn double-knitting!!

  • Liat, I don't know if it's my computer or what, but about 7:00 the video started to act up until the end of the video. Static and blocks of colors??

  • @Rozikess Hi there! I'm so sorry - I'm aware of the problems with this video, and I am actually set to launch new videos for this in the next couple weeks. AND they are WAY BETTER!!

  • @LiatMGat Did you launch a new video on DK yet? I haven't seen it yet, if you did. I want to try this.:)

  • Great tutorial but there is a lot of static starting at about 7:20. Any chance of getting a clean version of this uploaded?

  • @my1kwords Sorry! I can't fix this one but I have new ones coming in the next week or two at the latest. And they are SO much better!

  • @LiatMGat Great! Thanks for the update.

  • Full E-Book coming soon! All HD video, easy to see and thoroughly explained. Thanks for your patience!

  • @LiatMGat

    Hi Liat

Do you have to have an even # of stitches to double knit ?

I have a pattern and there's 17 stitches to it . It's a scull on a wrist cuff which I want to do . What can I do?

  • @MrWhyareyouhere Hi there! Nope, you don't have to have an even # of sts. When you do the set-up row (or round) and add in the second color, it creates a pair of sts for each square on your chart - one stitch for the front, and one for the back. You can do this with ANY number of sts. Have you watched part 1 of 3 of this video series? It explains the setup row.

  • Thanks for posting these videos. I need to learn by seeing things as they happen. The still photo tutorials I've found are no help to me. I wish you'd upload a new copy of this video though. Starting just after the 7:00 minute mark, the quality goes very bad & is basically unintelligible.

  • is there a way u could maybe probably pretty pliz do the western style if u now how to pliz i rly wanna leaern tht one

  • cn u do the double knitting bout the western style pliz i wanna learn how to do tht one

  • Why do you purl with both colors on the last stitch of each row? Thank you for putting these videos up. I can't afford the LYS class in my area.

  • So when you start the first row, does it make twice as many stitches as you casted on in the first place? And, um... why does the video go really fuzzy toward the end?

  • I really love your video. But I am a continental knitter. Are you going to post a video on doing it the "continental" way???Please do!

  • These are the best videos on Double knitting I have ever seen. I wish more people would do videos like you. Thanks also for showing the start and how both types of knitters would do it..
