@superotherguy1 You just need DOSBOX which is available for all operating systems, Windows, Mac, Linux. Search youtube and you'll see plenty tutorials showing you how easy it is.

I miss elite. All game designers seem to be interested in these days are making games that look great, but have no depth and you can finish in 8 hours. I'd sooner they were the other way round again.

Frontier Elite 2 the best game of my life I miss that kind of games :( no space sim are made only arcadish shit.

Braben is great for making that games and he wanted it very realistic and Im the kind of person who love realism :) thanks to him I now love all things about universe and I fall in love in sim games :]

@7BeAsT9 you should try pioneer, its a remake of frontier elite, its still in alpha so you can't do much yet but it looks great. Orbiter 2010 is another good one.

@DVAFP I know Pioneer I played it already. 1 thing annoyed me there. No lasers just weird star wars like beams. But anyway Pioneer is good game. And it is ment to be something more than only remake of elite frontier. I even was on forums of pioneer and suggested few things. I played alpha 7 and it crashed so it was unplayable for longer time. Then I got no time to play it but now I see that there is alpha 12 so I will try it soon.

@spike250684 I played 14 but I dont like it.... It feels even worst than 7 that I played. In 7 I could use mouse to steer and Q,E to rotate and W,S,A,D to control ship. now it not works simultaneously. I must let go mouse steering to rotate ship. In 7 I could do it simultaneously. Also they still didnt fix some ships. When accidentally player shoots near station police just attacks you. They also crash lol. Weapons are still weird. No lasers like in elite :/ Pioneer is still buggy.

@7BeAsT9 Elite 1 was a classic game,but Frontier was a massive disappointment.The combat was completely broken to the point of unplayability.It took you minutes to accelerate & decelerate,so when you got attacked,all you could do was 'slide' in one direction,while the ships around you seem uneffected by these 'physics' & fly rings around you.A space combat game where you couldnt change your direction of flight or speed? Great...What happened to the taurus jump drive from Elite 1?

@XRavenedgeX combat maybe was not perfect but can be plausible. 2 objects traveling with enormous speed towards a planet. Player ship is attacked so other ship is traveling with similar speed and trying to attack you so he only changes direction and sloving down or accelerating but still traveling with enormous speed towards the same planet! there must be slight movement when one ship instantly maneuvering! Remember that those ships are f... powerful?!

first game i truely loved was FE2, i managed to get a pirate copy, and played that, but found that it was for sale at a local computer shop in the 90s, and it had the 3 manuals, the starmap, and all sorts of other stuff.. i think it was the manuals/books and stuff that came with the game which really drove me to buying it, which I then became obsessed with for the next, oh... 14 or so years :P

Why does it have the frontier music for the intro? First Encounters has very different intro music (Though the Frontier music does appear in FE)
