  • Lol painting is gay

  • YEEEAAAA! Finally! I so want a yellow one and they do not have it! Thank you for this video!

  • Thank you for sharing what you learned while painting your Cricut, it has saved me the trouble of making those same mistakes. :-)

  • Has the paint chipped off at all since doing this? Great Idea thanks for sharing!

  • @AuntieAlly The paint has not chipped off yet. I did make the mistake of trying to paint the inside. The paint on the inside dripped under the paint on the outside and started to remove it. I should have painted the inside first (with a brush) a few days later tape it up as shown and paint the outside. I've been staring at it for awhile trying to figure out how to fix the outside lol.

  • you are very brave. i too will be painting mine, but i just got it less than a month. i will wait until warranty is done then i'll paint mine . thank you for sharing this video

  • OMG! I cant bear to watch this. I feel sorry for the cricut. Im off to slit my wrists now... HELP! Save the Cricut before its too late! ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

  • post another video so i can subscribe

  • Thats so cool!

I would have never thought to paint it pink!

Because aren't the pink ones a little bit more expensive than the traditional Cricut?

    Creative idea!

    :)

  • Well right now the pink one is supposed to be exclusive to Michaels. All of M's Expressions are the same price. You can get them when they go on sale. Some Walmarts have colored E's too.

  • This is a very cute way to personalize your cricut!! I was wondering if anyone knows if this will void the warranty? If so, I think I'll wait until my warranty is up to try it...but it'll give me time to pick the perfect color! TFS!! :)

  • I did call cricut cs and they said that if they find that the paint caused the problem then it does void your warranty. I dont think companies are bad but what's to say they choose to say the paint did cause the problem when in reality it didn't. I say wait until your warranty is up and practice painting and taping on something before you do this. After all you want your bug pretty AND working lol.

  • This is so cute! Thank you for sharing, I will have to do this, I have the same one you do, I love it! I wish it were the big one but I'm not going $400 in debt on top of all the cartridges! lol

  • Yes I saved for the ones I have. The big one I saved and asked for giftcards for christmas so that I could get it. Debt is not your friend! lol

  • She realized she didn't think things threw good enough prior to painting. She had never painted a piece of electronic equipment before. Just wanted to put that up as a warning to those who have never spray painted before to be sure and to use the right kind. She likes the machine now. She used Vinyl to make her name on the lid and that covered up alot of her mistakes.

  • Using the right kind of paint is very imjportant. Did she happen to post a picture of it? I'd love to see how she fixed it using the vinyl. I've seen some very nice machines that used vinyl, rub-ons and stickers.

  • Nice idea but if you've never Spray Painted before practice on a cheaper project first. It's an expensive one to have to fix.

  • If you make a mistake it's only on a piece of the machine and not the entire thing. I found that it is best not to try and paint it. She had to use Goof Off which is a form of paint thinner to redue her mistakes and now her machine does not say Cricut Expression or have the bug on it because the Goof Off ate away at the plastic and she had to use an electric sand paper to get some of the paint off on a $300 machine.

  • My gf tried to paint her Cricut and nearly ruined it. Make sure the paint that you use is made for plastic. It will eat the machine away if your not careful. Hold the SprayPaint can about a foot away from the machine or the paint will start running and it will get smeared. It's best to unscrew the machine and take it apart all together prior to painting.

  • Taking the machine apart could cause problems if you don't know what you're doing. You could short out the circuits and have a completely non working machine. I will put the warning here since people didn't read it on the website this vid was created for. I forgot that some people weren't coming from there. Why would she not use paint that was safe for plastic?

  • OH MY GOODNESS! Thank you so much! I have been wanting to paint my Cricut for months now, and then I heard that there was a pink Cricut being released! I am so excited to see somebody else do it first! Thank you... thank you... thank you!

  • I cut out Vinyl and decorated mine, but this is awesome :)

  • Does the pain t leave the surface nice and smooth or is it all stiff and hard?

  • My bug is smooth.

  • I enjoyed your tutorial. I want a pink one too!!!

  • Thx for the tutorial!!! I can't wait to paint mine pink. I luv the colours you picked for yours.

    xoxo,

    Lori

  • I see my cricut magically turning purple in the near future!! I think I would remove the feet on the bottom if they just have a screw holding them on, I'll have to take a look. Thanks for sharing

    Lady Dawn

  • If people alter their cricut I would love to see it!!!

  • You are AWESOME for sharing this! I think I might try it! Wish me luck! You make it look so super easy but I know it's not.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • You're right! Also rub-ons. I just added a little bling to match everything else.

  • Could probably take some stencils and add some cool flourishes to it in a different color too.
