Try 16.5 years of marriage before I agreed to get a puppy (with the pre-condition that I get a cat first and the cat has to get to adulthood first) .... So after 17.5 years of marriage when the cat was 1 yr old. Wife asked me "Could we get a dog seeing that you have your cat and she's 1?"

My answer .... "Sure but it's November and all the reputable breeders in the UK will not sell a dog on the run up to Christmas!"
