Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Sigur Ros. There is still good music in this world. It was looking a bit worrying at one point (now about 20 years ago in truth) but as long as these three can keep putting out the earth-shatteringly good music they still do, it'll all be just fine.
After listening to this band for over six years now I was totally wrong I always liked them, but hated who they are and all that stuff and how magazine's said they were the greatest thing around, but I admit I was wrong this band is awesome, but I feel there are others just as good if not maybe better. People need to appreciate the music they have from their era enjoy this hsit so you can look back on it and smile. I hate arcade fire as people, but they are fucking awesome.
Personally, I think Arcade Fire deserves all the recognition and awards they can get. I have never heard of another band that sounds remotely close to the intricately woven music style that is Arcade Fire. You can hear all sorts of different styles and influences throughout their music and yet, Arcade Fire still manages to make it sound new and original. From their implementation of kickass instruments such as the harpsichord to Win Butler's voice, this band is unique in their own right. Arcade
@tacosaucemafia Wow. There was absolutely no need to degrade my intelligence for my own opinion. I love both bands VERY much but I know for a fact that Win Butler (AF) does NOT sound like Wayne Coyne (FL). Each band has their own unique sound that you can EASILY tell apart.
@tacosaucemafia Arcade Fire is more 'baroque pop' meaning they use old orchestral instruments like the harpsichord whereas, The Flaming Lips are considered 'space rock' because a lot of their songs talk about futuristic, science fiction themes like pink robots, the big bang, spaceships, etc. Once, again this is my OWN opinion. I don't really mind if you disagree but there's no need to continue this petty squabble. Kthanks (:
grammy still means nothing. didn't all the disney characters like justin and britney get one, for beeing bad singers? shame on that douchebags, for discraseing arcade fire with that pitty excuse of an award.
@fascistyoutoogle You realize what you just wrote is incredibly dumb, right? Awards don't ''disgrace' bands. You'd rather they not get recognition for their work?
@Apocol0id Beeing awarded itself isn't much of an honor. It's worth highly depends on the institution/person who's deciding. e.g.: How'd you feel about beeing "jew killer magazine's" "nazi of the year"?
Now this is an incredible thumb comment, my other one was imho quite ok.
Btw: you really shouldn't flame about misspellings; and the term "realizing" doesn't necessarily mean agreeing with you.
I've done something similar to that. Instead of a black guy, it was some wannabe white guy driving a Buick with speakers that blasted some trash that I can only describe as generic hip-hop (i'm a fan of hip hop, just saying) but this was commercial or manufactured rap or what ever it really was. I rolled up next to him and let the music play. You should of seen his close minded reaction to it. I was laughing my ASS off.
Lovin' how I was lsitening to this; then I got a power out for 2 hours. I replayed this and my famiy was laughing so hard when i came into the fmaily room with this sogn playing. (I was able to replay the song since I used my laptop)
i just started to give this band a chance, and I'm very happy because they remind me a lot of The Killers back when I was obsessed with them in the Hot Fuss Days. Does anyone here hear the similarity. Who's better The Killers or Arcade Fire? anyone..
The Killers are ok (even though to this day I can't stand to hear "Somebody Told Me", I just think that song is really absurd), but Arcade Fire are really something else.
What a shame, my self igniting citroen destroyed my copy of this awesome album. It might be better not to dirve, while im beeing torn apart and forced to re-invent myself by this heartrapeing purifyed awesomeness, but still it's a shame...
@NAllen828 They're not hipsters, they're just assholes. There's a difference, I'm pretty sure some hipsters would kill themselves before being caught in a colorful sweater from the eighties.
@NAllen828 no, that's just because there are more people who can't afford new clothes. I've never actually seen a hipster, and am convinced they're fictional or not as common as they're made out to be.
@marsorbust87 They're probably hard for you to find because the'ye "so underground". I just have a hate on for people that are dressed in expensive clothes and raiding thrift stores.
I fucking hate hipsters. I love arcade fire. but, i hate when people say "ive been listening to this band for ever before anyone knew about them and now they're too famous." I'm pretty sure the goal of the artist is to get famous and make money. Just sayin'
@puggy3242 hippies were like, people in the 60's during the vietnam war that protested the war, and listened to great music (like at woodstock) and did lots of drugs. and hipsters are totally different, they think they're cool but they just suck. :)
@konacoffee11 Hipsters are also raiding all the thrift stores and with the increased demand for vintage clothing the stores are charging more for stuff that used to be cheap. I wanted a good pair of pants and it was 14 dollars, when I used be able to get some for half of that. Fucking hipsters, those retards wearing toques in the middle of the summer and ridiculous glasses.
I'll tell you this...Arcade Fire is my favorite band. Then, I'll say this. I thought Eminem deserved to win best album just because it was one of the only mainstream rap albums that actually had feeling in it in the last 5 years. But that doesn't mean I wasn't extremely happy when The Suburbs was slowly and shockingly stated by Barbara Streisand.
@wjww1166 I would have been happy with either Eminem or Arcade Fire, both of them put out great albums. I was just glad that Lady Antebellum didn't win yet another undeserved Grammy for their generic, run-of-the-mill country music.
They 100% deserved to win the Grammy. They were the only ones nominated who make ACTUAL music. I can't even begin to put into words how amazed and proud of them I am for their accomplishment. @chortles48 Why cause some old dudes gave a band that seems out of the norm an award? Yeah, nothings changed. In 1992 Nine Inch Nails got a grammy for Wish. @arinross523 Honestly, there's no comparison. Arcade Fire are far above in terms of everything.
The Killers are extremely overrated IMO, every single one of their LP's are average at best, they're one of those OK bands.
But AF, they're right up there with Radiohead. Not even a decade active and already have an amazing rock legacy.
