  • stupid lady the dog stayed at the very start of the video :)) lol

  • Comment removed

  • of course the puppy stayed she right in front of him...try moving away that's usually when they try to follow u

  • @lolosofli logic of the day

  • @FvckOffDorks haha

  • But how is that teaching stay if it's just laying down in front of you. Your not moving away so it's not really 'staying' it's just laying in front of you.

  • The problem with my collie puppy is that he's too full of energy. He won't ever sit in front of me without bounding and leaping around me. He doesn't respond to treats either, he doesn't really seem to like them lol

  • @nobodypersonsomeone i had the same problem, you just need to find the right treat that will get the attention of the puppie, for mine it was chicken, some puppies do not like the treat brands.

  • @nobodypersonsomeone

well it sounds like your dog is hyperactive so try taking him for a nice long walk or run to burn off some energy before your training sessions. and if the treats you are using are not something your dog really cares for then you will have to find something he does. i use real diced chicken and that will usually get the attention of any dog.

  • That dog does not listen to her. And she's teaching us?

    O.o

  • My dad said when a puppy poops on the floor or pease you youse a like a mag or a paper wood thing in the miidle and it's 2 mounth

  • @MrGrAnPa69 That animal cruelty.

  • what kind of treats are you feeding him?

  • Your videos are so helpful....

  • @lolgirl9513 tab289 is better...... ;)

  • @cuban121783 cheese

  • Thumbs up if you thought she was going to let out a big fart at At 0:40!

  • i know wots d dog thinking at 0:44 she mental

  • I really don't like how this lady trains that puppy because although she's explaining well, the puppy NEVER does what she says. I taught my pup to stay in 5 minutes. I just told him down, said stay, and waited 5 seconds before the treat, then 10, then 20, then 30. When he could hold it for 30 I would walk away and he would stay.

  • my dog can only stay before he finished his food

  • ha oh yeah my dog can stay but I wanted him to stay longer he heard the doorbell :( i was facing at the door he literally jumped on me then ran over me to the door he's so clever!!!!!!!!!! just to let you know i was sitting down!

  • bloated dog, obese

  • how unhealthy is that dog fat fat fat and ur a failure of a dog that pup is over weight from this stupid slag feeding him for nothing and sort out a name freebies get a life

  • It looks like an adult dog

  • your dogs so calm its so hard training a jack russle cus there always on the move

  • the puppy did not stay..but was only fed continuously and distracted

  • how long should u train w/ ur dogs to do this.. and how many treats should u give him?

  • For security purposes

  • Do u guys tink dat we should put a leash on the puppy/dog/fully grown dog and tie the other end of the leash to a near by pole or something like that. This r Mai opinion

  • i just got a puppy 3 month old lab and beagle mix they think he has no payshinse but she loves i mean loves toys so for her to stayy and sit i put the toy in front of her face then take it behind my back and say sit then stay and she does ut

  • are you teaching your dog a no command lie down?

  • Corgis are so hard to teach Stay. Paw and sit in a matter of hours, but stay? Extremely Difficult!!!

  • Just a question, do you have to give them treats? my dog dosnt like treats at all, and i really need to train him to stay...

  • @a2kzgurl2002 just use whatever motivates him maybe a toy or chew stick? or even affection or petting.

  • which was the frist video of this cuz i cant find it

  • i need help... i cant teach my dog to do anything because i dont have a treat to lure or reward him with....

he only eats his own food and stuff that will give him diarrea like spicy food, and other bad-to-dog things

  • @richyrich356 hahahahaha~~!!

  • @richyrich356 Use the dog food she normally eats, before you use it pretend to eat it,she/he would think its special.I had to do the same thing it worked :).

  • cool!!

  • This lady is good 'cause she actually uses puppies, who aren't already trained.

  • FAIL!

  • Cheese?? Do you have any idea why dogs have to get dewormed? They should never have dairy foods, unless you want to pay for deworming annually.

  • Work on the Camera?

  • so f***ing baad quality my mobile is better

  • @torztxn i agree the video was 2007 but still your right..

  • wat is that treet

  • its only lying down because it wants to

  • people that watch expertville's video often say-- that dog is gonna get fat. TREATS ARE PART TRAINING!!!!!!

  • @inodivino123 I agree, I am training my 6 week old rot/ lab pup. I factor in the amount of treats into his diet. @ 6 weeks he knows the sit, come and down commands. :)

  • OMG IS THAT THE DOG FROM COW BOY BEBOP?!

  • OMG it's the dog from Cow Boy Bebop

  • @marquezda333 THATS WHAT I SAID LOLOL

  • I really like these videos! I'm working with my puppy now, but I need to work with my husband first and get him to watch these!

  • how many hours or minute do you train your puppy everyday? thanks..

  • Thanks very much :)

  • McElroy has the best dog vids on Expert Village...Most of the other ones are so fricken weird and don't even teach ANYTHING in them!..They will have like, 1 comment, and it will be a 13 year old kid saying "uhmm..This video sucks..."

  • A puppy is never to young to start training. I got my boxer when she was 5 weeks and starting training instantly and she now knows Sit, Lay Down, Stay, Shake-a-paw (both paws), Speak, Leave it & go get it, and shes only 16 weeks! The training also promoted good manners you can tell her to get down when shes sniffing at stuff on the coffee table and shell listen and come and sit nicely next to you :)

  • cool can you teach me how to teach my pups?

  • Im glad to see that this puppy hasnt quite got the down on his own yet (like my puppy) although my puppy is alot quicker in getting down. Im introducing the stay today, hope it goes well, ive heard itshard to teach hope not lol. How are you all doing on teh stay so far?

  • + At how many weeks is a puppy ready for training? +

    Does any one know?

  • Starting training as soon as possible is best. I always started training my dogs at the age of 8-12 weeks. The earlier the start the better!

  • Thanks Tellu

I actually took my German pup for a walk to the park with no leash and this guy was on me like pancakes and syrup .. wow he was training on his own well with my help that is hopefully it stays the same as he gets older

  • I have heard you can teach your puppy stay at any age as long as you have taught him/her sit and lie down first my dog is 13 weeks and im still working on lie down but with treats he does it everytime, imintroducing stay today he is 14 weeks

  • @MillieTiasMummy how many days 'til your dog got the ideas? I'm trying to teach my 2months old German Dog too and I'm having a hard time. ):

  • Hi it varies in all dogs my pup gets lazy so i have to keep persisting with him. keep the training simple make sure you just trying to teach one thing at a time eg the sit. Keep trying and keep training periods short, Good luck

  • You can do it as soon as you bring him/her home.. but you may want to get it potty trained before teaching it how to sit

  • well because it is called discipline. for instance if u were walking in front of my house and my 2 pits were outside would u just want them to lay down before they attack or would u want them to lay down and stay? they would rip u a new *ssh@le... anyway, its common sense that there is a difference between laying down and staying. if u dont know that then u are too ignorant to own a dog and have no business messing with it. just thought i would educate u a bit, only reason i commented

  • whatt!! my dog doesnt understand!! why would you tell him to stay if he is already laying down

  • where do you get those treats from and what are they called ?

  • When I watch her videos it seems like shes already started teaching the dog to stay, I dont think she is going through the whole process.

  • u spell barto WRONG ITS bartio

  • L0L,Y0UR 11....M3 T0!

  • how do you know?

  • if you were a good trainer you would know that if your dog sees you as the alpha male he will watch your movments and learn how you are. After this you can just look at him then at the ground next to him and he will stay. I know because i raise hybred pitbulls for a living.

  • LoL his name is Barto, Just like from the Simpsons El Barto

  • That was sick

  • this is not teaching, im going to be lost

  • She always says:

"You have to set your puppy up to suceed."

    Its getting on my nerves!

  • what breed is that?

  • its a corgi theres 2 kinds i just dont remember what kind it is

  • cordigan welsh corgi

  • i dont think cheese is that great of a food. u shud just give him regular food that looks like kibble

  • your dog is gonna be frickin fat lol

  • @SRT10TJ lol

  • ya right

  • you suck im sorry.. :( i seen better trainers

  • I taught my dog to fly

  • haha i wish i though of that

  • my dog can sit and come and stay hehe she's so cute. I just trained her on my own way. But ur advice is great and helpful!

  • thanks for being clear and simple=()

  • my dog learned from this and he is doing better each day

  • well it isn't bad for them unless you feed them that alot. It could be an Ocassional treat

  • i was dogsitting recently and the the dog wasn't really trained so i thought i was going to get it to stay in its bed.... but saying a simple "ah-aah" when they start to movem, like dog trainers do on tv works really well

  • ice cream is :P

  • this is not the best and korrect way... :-/

  • and that is not the best or correct way to spell correct.

  • Thanks! It helped alot, I have a crazy Golden Retriever purebred male, AKC registered, he tries to eat rocks and squeals at my door every morning. Amazingly, he already knows sit and shake, but mouths alot. It helped! Thanks!

  • How old do you think the puppy should learn how to sit and lay down or stay? My puppy's only 24 days old, in other words 3 and a half weeks old, and she mouthes me alot and growls at me if i tell her no or "yelp". And i think she's too young to learn how to do things..but im worried if it might be too late when i think its the right time for her to learn basic commands.

  • right now, do not try to scold her too much. he is very young. if she growls or bites just walk away and give her a chew toy. if she growls. hold her and be calm and pleasant and ignore her growl. but dont be too harsh yet. she is very very young. i would say just work on keeping her happy and calm now. once she is about 7 or 8 weeks, then you can start scolding for nibbling and growling by saying NO. also at that time, teach her basic commands slowly. but again, dont start scolding til older :)

  • fail

  • is that a pembroke welsh corgi?

  • i think so..

  • i think it may help my spaniol pup its 3 months and its name is spark

  • She did a great job of showing how to feed a puppy cheese! Congrats on the good work!

  • you should not give your dog cheese, she may not be able to poop later.

  • my puppy is a lunatic, nightmare, she eats her poop... she poops and turns around and starts eating it...Does your dog eat poop????? :{

  • Comment removed

  • he looks like Ain in the aaime "Cowboy Bebop" :P

hehe I might get a puppy in about 6 months... I'm training myself in youtube boefor buyin it :P hohoho!

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

  • Aww, he loves cheese! Cute corgi! lol.

  • wait? what kind of puppy is that? is it a welsh corgi? or something else??? idk HELP!

  • well, its not realyy bout chewing, its about learning my dogs name!!

He wont listen and i dont know what to do and when i say his name, He COMES to me.

I dont want him to think that his name means,"Come"

    Any tips??

  • Well obviously he's going to come if you call him... same as if you were to say, "here boy!" or whatever else.

Say his name all the time, such as while you're petting him, playing with him, etc.

Also, it's best to say his name before you tell him to do something... for example, "Fido, sit." or "Fido, come!"... that way he learns that different words mean different things, but his name is constant.

    It means HIM.

  • lets say your dog's name is max. Say "come max!" and as your dog gets used to that, try calling him by only his name. Remember to be patient.

  • not very good.

  • that dog eat cheese?? isnt that bad for dogs?

  • no it just doesn't let them smell good or something

    correct me if im wrong

  • mine is westie and hes i think hard to train

  • I really enjoy your videos but I'm concerned about the cheese. I thought dairy products made puppies sick. What kind of cheese are you giving him and how much all together? Thanks.

  • Brilliant.

  • err 7 week old

  • im having problems with my 7 year old border collies when i try to train them all they do is climb up my shirt and lick my ears or bite them, nose, face, etc. how do i train 2 border collies bother/sister with these videos can anyone help me? oh yea even if there is another dog to keep them company they still whine for minutes, up to an hour when i just have to go somewhere i need to be and i cant take them with me because they just climb up me can some one please help me train my border collies

  • if you can manage to teach em to sit nd stay i think youll b fine it takes alot of patience nd treats nd uhh du urself a favor dun listen to dis lady

  • Border collies are wonderful dogs and very easy to train, but they also need an incredible amount of exercise. They were bred to chase sheep all day. If you make sure they're getting enough exercise every day, I'm sure you'll be fine with them.

  • What the Heck! Why don`t you buy a dog whistle to get his attention. No, much Better Idea then using your mouth because it`s not a high of enough pitched noice Buy a dog whistle! It gets there attention better!

  • yeah i totally agree with u XP

  • How the hell did she teach him to "stay"??? Any freakin dog can do that, she didn't even walk away.

  • lol anyone could do that

    she didnt even walk away

  • it is healthiest to only feed your dog dry food and treats, table scraps are unhealthy and f you keep him on a healthy diet his life will be longer then if you feed him table scraps.

  • What is the best treat for puppies.. My puppy is doing great.. but I use a lot of treats.. This seems to throw off his bathroom training.. because it is not consistent... Any input appreciated .. thanks..

  • Well, I have to say that anything you feed your puppy extra is going to affect his bathroom breaks. If you are going to use treats and it's really throwing you off with the training, if you can, take him out more often and add more time for him to go potty outside.

Veggies and Fruit are actually very good treats so you don't over do on dog treats you buy at the stores. Anything natural, not snausages etc, will actually be more healthier for your puppy.

  • The best treat is a treat only 1 time a day maybe some cheese it is also healthy!

  • nope me too

  • mmmmm am I the only one that thinks that her dog is NOT listening to her at all!?

  • On a lot of dogs, eye contact (that we often associate with interest in something) is something that needs to be practiced, as is concentrating on things in the first place. Puppies really don't have a very long attention span when they're doing stuff that are boring or they don't fully understand (like listening to people talk). I think he was doing an alright job of it.
