  • I have a stupid question, but could anyone just tell me the reason why APU couldn't run for power after 2 engines died, was that because APU consumes fuel? Thanks everyone.

  • Intresting how I worked out that in some way everyone even the most lightly involeved from the stunned moterists to the two people who saved the life of the pilot are somewhat heros

  • Piche can be my wingman anytime!~

  • I have found after watching these episodes that the competence and professionalism of the aircrew can make all the difference between life and death in an airplane accident.

  • 1 engine is of rol royce and the onther not

  • Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups

  • I am not surprised that Airbus threw these pilots under the bus and blamed them- it seems to be their habit. The French refuse to acknowledge that their "computerized everything" planes can sometimes be confusing, and go against a pilot's express commands. The one GOOD thing the invented was the RAT- the ram-air-turbine (the little prop that dropped down) which gave them SOME electric & hydraulic power. No hydraulics and they definately would have crashed.

  • @talitakoomi Airbus didn't invent the RAT, it has been standard fit on large military aircraft (in the UK atleast) since the 1950's and 60's.

  • Well the landing gear done it's job then......

  • Wait, but why couldn't they start an APU? Or does it use the same fuel source as engines?

  • @FastGreenFCF for some reason the apu doesn't have a dedicated fuel tank, probably a great thing to think about since it would only need to be a few gallons.

  • 240p We meet again.

  • @janinaman this is not getting old... at all.

  • @lewfather LOL

  • what ever the captain did wrong, he did land the plane safely

  • Why do they interview the sissy wimp and his fat crazy wife or girlfriend? They're annoying an add nothing to the story.

  • Since when do ATC/pilots talk at the rate of 10 words per minute?

  • 3MM error for 300 passengers. wtf

  • 3mm error for 300 passengers? WTF!

  • Canadians rely a lot on that little propeller under the plane. Great twice now!

  • @4:00 and @5:52 You can tell that marriage is doomed.

  • 'How can qualified mechanics make such mistakes?' I have seen stories of qualified surgeons forgetting pairs of scissors inside the patient and none of the doctors noticed, only showed up on x-ray or when the the patient's grave was opened years later, so, don't trust anyone 100%

  • mechanics and managers you are not engineers......you are dumb asses...so please put on the part that was designed...monkey!

  • @yankee22167: Not that simple. The managers are promoted from the ranks of the maintenance people; they know the problems. Their job is to make sure the equipment is ready to fly. What they don't know, and no one is likely to tell them until too late, is the engineering decisions which make some substitutions risky. If you think substitutions are rare, think again. They substituted a whole engine; what are the risks in that? Obviously they found one of them. Their job is real too.

  • 26:08 Captain Sullenberger proved this otherwise.

  • @chazflyz yea but he landed on river which is not as rough to land as sea with waves. But yeah yes its possible to land on WATER without breaking tail off.

  • @chazflyz: He wasn't flying an airbus A330.

  • @chazflyz 767's have a larger mass, Sullenbergers A320 had a lot more going for it landing on the Hudson, Engines on 76's are mounted a lot lower.

  • 11:11 Afterburner

  • 31:10 They put their sunglasses on at the same time.

  • This one is the best from the series.

  • can i ask what is fuel imbalancing?

  • @HACKERMASTERDESTROY its when you suck the cone sickle out of your dick magget

  • @HACKERMASTERDESTROY More fuel in the tanks on one side of the plane than in the other side.

  • the president of their country shall give them help because the crew manage to save them

  • Fuck it! Just cut up a piece of garden hose an throw that bitch on there. It'll be fine.

  • From now on I will call my flash light a torch.

  • Why the hurry out of the plane?

  • @MrRazorblade999: SOP. The brakes could have started a fire, if there hadn't been one before the landing. You got them stopped on the runway; it would be a terrible thing if the died of smoke inhalation there. And that has happened.

  • shit fuck like they couldn't re-drill the holes in the bracket or something even a freaking little redneck fix up would of worked like put rubber hose and wrap it in duct tape even if the two lines rob but it wouldn't abrade the fuel line much at least not to the point of it leaking

  • @volodymyrm1: Certainly they could have done something like that if they'd known the failure that the change was going to cause. As the narrator said, the difference was 3 mm; a hair over a tenth of an inch. You couldn't drill separate holes that close together. And jet engines are something you don't want to be introducing more parts into. Red neck fixes are frowned upon, for good reasons.

  • this is very ODD!

  • This episode has a striking similarity to that of Air Canada 143. Air Canada also suffered fuel starvation and both (this and Air Canada), fortunately came out of the crisis safely. Pals, check the plane always before flying them.

  • @hmasna well the first indication of error, you should always return to a runway. Better safe then sorry!

  • Beavis and Butt-head must have been really disappointed at 39:04 lol

  • @jasebrown46 He almost put his finger in the hole. Huh Huh Huh. That sucked. Huh huh huh.

  • OK thanks i might try once and if i don't like it i will keep trying to fly on a Arplane AND A HPPY NEW YEAR

  • ok i now

  • ...blew up 8 of the 12 tires? to my knowledge the A330 has 10 tires in total...anyways...

  • maybe the plane will blow up beacause there is no fuel to keep it working

  • is enyone scakerd of flying

  • @xxx789ist yep. And I fly a LOT

  • @xxx789ist You know what I am scared of? The fact that most people still can't spell properly :P

Anyways, paranoid people who watch this are probably scared of flying, but I watched almost all of these and I still prefer flying over taking a bus.

  • @bvestationfan I watched every single one of these and it made me so interested in aviation, I'm on my way to get my private pilot's license. So far 11 hours in the air and counting!

  • it sounds very sad you never know what while happen if you people agree ok

  • Comment removed

  • I swear, if I'm ever in a situation like this and people are screaming I'll be telling them to shut the **** up!

  • Good One ;)

  • The registration on this plane in the video is wrong. It's supposed to be C-GITS

  • Zit is caused by an fuel leak

  • THANK YOU pilot

  • they may not have closed the cross feed, but they did save everyone on board and therefore are still heros in my eyes

  • good on the piet to get everyone out alive

  • lol why do they always get dumbass people to make comments like "I ran down the slide incase the plane blew up" it was out of fuel dumbass, what would catch fire?

  • @pbrew85 didn't the pump connecting the fuel tank to the engine burst, causing fuel to be lost?

  • @yomamasapeach both tanks were empty so the fuel leaked outside the plane while in the air.

  • @pbrew85 oh, so they were actually pretty much empty.

  • @yomamasapeach For goodness say.

  • lol why do they always get dumbass people to make comments like "I ran down the slide incase the plane blew up" it was out of fuel dumbass, what would catch fire? I didn't read anywhere that the captain had picked up the microphone to make an announcement informing the passengers that he had run out of fuel. All the passengers knew at that time was that the engines had stopped working, they didn’t know why. So your comment about the “dumbass” is really not valid.

  • @pbrew85 Simple, there was not enough fuel for that reached the engines but, that doesn't mean there is no more. There is mostly always a little bit left

  • uum... no, the natator is wrong, the 767 did not enter wings level, thus that was not a controlled water landing, as the hijacker turned the controlls at the last minute. however, a controlled water landing is very easily survivable, take the hudson river landing with the us airways a320 for example...

  • @jaffacake1578 Yeah it is, but they seem o be very hard to do. If the Hudson river was wild because of a storm or something similar to that, then they wouldn't. Because if it's not perfect it can be horrible

  • @MrMaxxer25 actually, you'd be surprised. there was a dc-9 that smashed into giant waves in the ocean while ditching, but the plane stayed in one piece, most survived, some didn't because they weren't wearing a seatbelt...

  • @jaffacake1578 Those who didn't survive, it's there own fault. Can you say where that was? In which country and what was the airline name?

  • @MrMaxxer25 uuh, i will try and find it for you and tell you when i do.

  • @jaffacake1578 Thanks

  • @jaffacake1578 Which crash is this DC-9? Never heard of it.

  • @sasukeAMVcreator a330 :P

  • @iJay842 I'm not talking about this crash... as you can see, I was replying to somebody.

  • First Officer: Keptin, YOUR ANUS IS BEING RIPPED APART BY HUNGRY LIONS!

Captain: Naah! It must be the computer.

  • now I am curious on the recent crash of the BOEING 767. pilots did an excellent job! now i can't wait for the new investigation.

  • I dont know why this and the gimli glider are my favorite episodes. both ran out off fuel. odd.

  • @simpsonfan13 *of

  • @simpsonfan13 best ones

  • @simpsonfan13 also Superbird 9 St Elmo's Fire

  • @dbyington1 speedbird. not superbird.

  • The Three guys who disliked this video are the two pilots and Airbus CEO.

  • the pilots r too good to handle a plane with no fuel

  • The pilot is brave if I was flying I would land at the nearest airport

  • Well, I don't see the need to RUSH out of the thing, it's not like it's going to blow up, is it?

  • @joesabido: One never knows. There was no oxygen available; a fire caused by a abused brake could have killed a number of people with smoke inhalation sitting on the runway. You don't take chances; getting the people off is SOP.

  • fucking awesome pilot . i like it on 31:05.......

  • Canada heart space dot space exclamation mark bracket y bracket dot

  • pilots were good! i dont think i can even compute knowing that the plane has great chances to crash

  • WELL DONE PILOTS REALLY GREAT ,BUT LOOK ALWAYS FOR YOUR FUEL IN FUTURE

  • 18:42 "we'll descend to tirty tree tousand feet" :D

  • This one has to be one of the luckiest group of passengers Air Transat 236. Reminds me of Catus 1549.

  • @mbc1 yeah, "pilot error first" even though the leak was caused by faulty maintenance... isn't like you have the benefit of hindsight or anything.

  • @somnus71 If someone says that 2+2=5, saying it is actually 4 later is not hindsight in my book...

I'm usually very understanding, but this "must be the computer" shit is plain stupid, anyone with his right mind would have suspected a fuel leak.

Or can you tell me what else would you have needed to say "this is a fuel leak" if not these exact signs?

  • "Last fuel check was 15 minutes ago", and there's a fuel inbalance warning... what would indicate a fuel leak if not this...? "Computer error"... when clear warnings are shown... sure... pilot error first, improper maintenance second.

  • It's funny that the "victims" who freaking survived without even a scratch are bitching and complaining about the pilots and mechanics. especially the bald twat "I don't think the Pilot who saved my fucking life is a hero"

  • @Dragonwarrior1701 give me a break. all the passengers thought he saved their lives. do you think everyone who does their job well is a hero?

  • @somnus71 So you think fire fighters and medical personel don't save peoples lives just because they're doing their job??

  • @Dragonwarrior1701 they aren't firefighters, they're pilots. they're trained to land an aircraft without power. they were never in any more danger than the passengers were. while they did an amazing job under pressure, that's what's expected of an airline pilot, and that's why they get paid. this isn't something where they went out of their way to risk their lives for others at great risk to themselves. i think the word hero is overused

  • @somnus71 Firefighters are trained to do their job aswell.

The pilots got paid to go from point A to Point B, not to land a huge powerless glider.

if the world was the way you see it, there'd never be any heroes. because everyone's just doing their job and they're being human.

Don't reply to this, because I don't feel like talking to people like you..

  • @Dragonwarrior1701 pilots don't get paid to flip on the autopilot and watch the instruments for 6 hours. they're paid to react correctly when something goes wrong. they're trained and expected to glide the aircraft onto the runway in the event of engine failure. these pilots really did nothing extraordinary, and your desire to say that they did demeans pilots who actually did perform heroically.

if you want to make heroes out of pilots, then look up united airlines 232

  • @somnus71 Pilots don't sign up for an airline just to sit in the cockpit incase something goes wrong with the advanced computer systems used. They are trained to fly the craft, and trained to deal with emergencies that shouldn't happen. I suppose that the pilots that landed a plane in the hudson river were just doing their jobs aswell huh??

You've got no intelligence dude, Even people that are trained to deal with a specific situation are Heroes if they do it right.

  • @Dragonwarrior1701: Personally, I would say that Schallenburger's landing on the Hudson was a masterpiece of flying. But what made Schallenburger a hero wasn't his flying, but his insistence to personally make sure every person was off the plane before he got out; that must have taken real brass in a dark, sinking airplane, and that is the definition of heroism, not displaying the skills you learned to get your job.

  • @puncheex *Sullenberger

  • 18:17 "Uh-oh...Uh-oh, Uh-oh".

  • at 16:12 he says 350 miles to the runway threshold in the Azores, but Lisbon is 300km away? thats like 185 miles....That makes no sense.

  • They should have shut off the cross-feed immediately.

  • 3:35 they're going on their honeymoon but they have different last names?!?! The bitch was probably like "I'm keeping my maiden name".

  • i just can't believe them airline companies nowadays, i mean just to save time for saving cash, they would easily jeopardize people's lives & lead them to inevitable danger, & pilots? treated like dog robots, by having to obey their oath rules, have to think not twice but 10 times before even thinking of life guarding their passengers with the appropriate procedures, afraid of getting punished & lose their career fined to the butt, which in return, puts them facing such a tragedy!!!

  • @s6xer: Easy to say. Do you own any stock? What would you say to the company management if they'd cancelled the flight for the lack of an engine, costing the company a million in lost fares, schedule problems and bad PR? Would you have rewarded them by buying more stock? What's your assessment of how the other stock owners would handle that, if it happened too often?

  • pilot is a hero but as far as i remember make a mistake too!!! opening the crossfeed valves was a big huge mistake if the pilot dont do it they will make a emergency landing with 1 engine running which will me more easy to land

  • The pilots saved some lives! Did an awesome job!

  • Classic case of airlines choosing Economics VS Safety. Waiting for engine parts meant taking that plane out of service which would lose them revenue. So, they try to wing it with old spare parts to hold it up until the new parts come. It's essentially like using duct tape to fix a hole. And they under estimate how serious those decisions are. And the sad thing is, this probably happens more than we'd like it to, but theirs nothing we can do as passengers.

  • @SuperEd311: Or rather, there is something you can do as stockholders. Call the company's directors up, tell them this story, and tell them you'll reward their dedication to safety by personally absorbing costs they incur in maintaining absolute safety standards. Then back it up. Be prepared to loose your shirt.

  • @Th3R3alPr0: Boeing's first passnger jet was the Boeing 707, not on of the first prop planes ever manufactured. Plus the 707 was brought out in the late 1950s not the 40s when it was unheard of. Plus, they dont even fly the 707 anymore only in the occaisonal military or tanker flight.

  • Pilot Error, I hate that! The Computer is mostly always right! but some old planes such as Boeing 247 (First Boeing Passenger Jet 1940s) and do you think the Computer is still alive? 70 Years.......

  • that fuel leak was enormous

  • @kestrel8888: To loose 1000 pounds/minute, you betcha.

  • when they losed the first engine some idiot sad ohh ohh ohh at 18:25 ;:DD

  • i'm sorry but that woman just drives me crazy......the one who said airtransat wasn't good and stuff like that.

  • 49:56

    It's Pat Riley... hahaha...

  • In the face of death, these guys remained cool, calm and collected. Sign of being a confident pilot. I can't believe the team work in the cock pit. It's amazing.

  • My salute to the captains for saving the lives of 300+ People and landing the pplane safely.

  • The fuel leak was actually inevitable - and was the fault of the maintenance supervisor. Eventually one of their pilots would have had it to handle. This one did an amazing job reaching land... and getting it down w/o power & only blowing 8 tyres [Force = mass x acc]. His weakness as a pilot was retreating into denial when flight started to go pear shaped, and staying in it despite the junior attempts of his co-pilot to insist there was a problem... Glad they're still airborne; fly me any day.

  • Transat is a shocking airline... charging ppl for more then 5kg of carryon.. lts only time before this happens again

  • after loozing engine nr 1 the pilot still was thinking of an computer bug , wat a bad pilot i recon , he was lucky to save all these people

  • amazing airmanship

  • Pilots should be like Astronauts. They are supposed to have The Right Stuff. They are supposed to keep their cool and troubleshoot the aircraft. These guys where working with limited information. They should have been able to check the maintenance log during the preflight briefing. On the whole I think they did the right thing in the end given the information they had. This story reminds me of British Airways flight 9.

  • they always blame the pilots!! thats stuped!!!

  • @MegaGuitar87 who caused all this?the airplain maintanence people!!

  • ironically, the lack of fuel lengthened the distance that the plane could glide

  • after questioning the fuel, they should have closed the crossfeed valve, instead, they might as well have opened the fuel dump valves

  • Full rates because that was just amazing

  • I liked the captain of this plane, by his patience and endurance, he could land the plane safely.

Indeed he did a big mistake when he ignored the computer alerts.

  • @thekinaesthetic: You mean you liked the actor that played the captain? They all look so good, don't they?

  • the captain reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger for some reason

  • This proves that is is almost never one persons fault, normally a load of things that just happen to come together to cause an accident.

  • how did you upload the full part?

  • Still.... I like Airbus more than Boeing but both have it flaws

  • lol although this is a great show it is also unrealistic.

At 04:27 airbus took off with flaps 0. the plane would have stall and crash just after take off.

  • Airbus's fault moslty- computer assisted aircraft which always creates a doubt in the minds of pilots because computers can't be trusted 100% !!!

Captain's fault too for not heeding his first officer's warnings and the computer warnings. In the end a warning is a warning, whether true or false - better to be safe than sorry !!

  • it was a miracle

  • using high speed landing to blow off the tires is a great idea for a brand new braking system :D .. simply the airplanes manufacturers and remove the heavy spoilers mechanism, the thrust reverser mechanism and the landing gear braking mechanism which leads a lighter airplane with a longer range a less fuel consumption .. but they must take into account the cost of the tires :P :P :P

  • would it be that dark in the cabin? there is the emergency lights that come on when AC power goes off. They're there so that you can see your way to the exit in a crash

  • Jeez, I'm glad I didn't see this before my last two trans-Atlantic flights ...

    o_O

  • There were way too many optimistic people on this flight

  • the pilot is cool!

  • Thats what we call Skilled Pilot

I want those pilot when i goes fly

  • Why didn't he do a slip in the final?

  • DO PLANES EVEN NEED TO CONSUME FUEL WHEN THEY ARE IN FLIGHT? GUYS, I SAW A GOOD WAY TO SLOW GLOBAL WARMING. :D

  • so, the maintenance was on the 17th, but the description says the flight was on the 24th? How is that 5 days?

  • You do not take chances replacing parts!

Lack of professionalism on the part of the Canadian Engineer that told the mechanic to replace it.

A phone call to RR would of confirm if part was compatable.

This is very common in the Canadian industry time to do a job is more important than safety.

  • lol, the co-pilot looks like the dude from glee XD

  • The Plane needs one pair of Night Vission Goggles

  • haha i cant help it.. "in the Number 2 Engine on the Right Handside of the Plane" - And the Camera Zooms out the Left Hand Side Window.. (All Passenger Seats Face Forward)

  • Ive said this before is you took all the air crashes of real planes Since the Wright Brothers & include all the Military Planes Lost From All Over The World. Would Not Even = America's National Road Toll For 5 Years. And im talking number of planes lost versus cars lost not lives.. But even then there might be 20 times the people on planes but there is 10,000 Times the car accidents. Per year.

  • the Captain looks like Jeremy Irons

  • People who want to be a pilot, do it! Don't be scared! Because if they had made a Car Crash Investegation, than 1000 times more video's would be uploaded, and you would be scared to. Life is dangerous. Life without dangerous is boring.

  • @megaGTAfreako Thats very true man!! Great comment!!

  • @megaGTAfreako thanks

  • @megaGTAfreako i couldnt agree more with that statement..adrenaline is good

  • On 17, 5 days before the flight?

    Flight was 24th.

    C'mon.

  • if they were in trouble why didnt the captain turn on the APU system

  • @tillster158 They had no fuel.

  • @tillster158 because the apu uses fuel to run it

  • why am i watching this when im going to go in a plane next week !?!
