  • This is a perfect example of somebody who purchases drums for name and idealistic purposes, and not based on knowledge. One of the things that you brought up is that this snare has resonance, and that this is a bad thing. That is a common misconception amongst beginners. EVERY drum has resonance. If a drum didn't have resonance, it would sound dead and flat. Learning to control those overtones is one of the primary factors in turning drums. Let resonance work in your favor, not against you

  • I am buying this snare tomorrow in natural birch finish. Can't wait to get it! As far as 18" crashes go, I've got Sabian HHX evolution and AAX xplosion crash, and they are both amazing. The Sabian Paragon crashes are nice as well.

  • Your snare is an orgasm to my ears!!

What kind of music do you play??

  • yeaah it is extremely orgasmic i generally play like all music ive noticed to tht cause its just so loud its harder to play jazz but rimshots are beyond orgasmic hmm wats beyond orgasmic..... oh well yeaah is sick for playing metal. i got doube bass pedal coming in couple of weeks and new 18" crash but dunno wat sort?

  • How do you tune it?

  • i usually tune the snare drum differently to the toms I first loosen them all of so theyre out of the lugs then i tighten them with fingers till i can anymore I then go round the drum missing a lug everytime doing one turn.then do the same on the other lugs going around the drum then push GENTLY on the head to stretch it out, but only if its a new head if not then i just dont bother after that i do a half turn on each without skipping and it should be gd hope i helped.

  • Leave a comment on any of my videos for anymore questions :)

    Joe

  • do u use rimshot often?

    problems about the screws?

  • Im not like some people that love to use rimshots, but if im doing a jazz, slow or quiet piece then i usually do. It gives it more effect. And what do you mean by problems with the screws? Do you mean tension rods or lugs?

  • i mean, while u're playing the snaredrum, does rods screws itself? ty

  • oh right i see, no they dont. On my last snare that happened so i brought some lug locks. I saved then thinking i might have had to use them but theyre still sitting in my spares box. If im hounest like I said in the info I love this snare there's nothing i can find fault with apart from the ring which is easily fixed with the moongels. If you have any more questions please dont hesitate to ask me :)

  • oh and i hope i helped :L :P

  • Sorry, I completely forgot about this video and the question I asked. I was also interested in how you tune the bottom head relative to the top. Is it higher, lower, same pitch?

  • @TheFiery naa thts fine i tune the reso head 1 turn tighter on each lug to give a fatter sound on the top

  • @bonbon668 That's interesting.

I went with a slightly lower reso on my Sonor LE 13"×7" because I didn't want too much snare sound. But I do have to say your snare sounds very good in this video.

Do you still have the stock heads on?

  • @TheFiery Cheers, yeaah it is orgasmic and the camera is crap but thanks yeaah i do have stock heads on atm but im gonna change soon cause the head starting to go might go to a remo black x , i think thats wat its called basicallly the snare version of the ebony. wat colour did ya get?

  • @TheFiery yeaah atm i still have the stock heads but theyre quite basic unfortunatley they seem to be tought and durable so it might be some time before i get some new heads doubt i'll swich reso cba + more money and i tuned my bottom one because i like that fat vintage sound and youd think that i'd get that by de-tunning the reso a little but parently not so how are you finding yours now youve had it a while?

  • @bonbon668 I'd stretched out my stock batter head noticeably after a couple of rehearsals and a gig. It was still usable, but I didn't like it anyway, so off it went. I used an Evans Power Center first, but I didn't like it that much. I tried Evans EC Snare next and I'm loving it.

I had some problems with snare buzz and weird snare overtones with the stock reso head, so I had to detune the lugs closest to the snare bed. Once I replaced it with Evans 300 Hazy I had no more trouble.

  • @TheFiery yeaah i have that, i just tightened the snare wire but i like a lot of crack so it was fine but i know waat you mean btw look out new videos uploaded them but stupid 10 min thing so i have to split up :/ will be up soon :)

  • @bonbon668 Will check them out when they appear.

There's some videos where you can hear my snare on the user/krk37metal channel.
