Second, there is a difference in killing people randomly and wanting to exterminate a group of people based on whatever. Living in a dangerous country and living in a country where your mere existence is against the lay, there is actually jail time for giving you a place to live and death penalty just for the way you were born are two very different things and if you think about it I'm sure you can agree to that .

First of all, doing something doesn't have to mean bringing troops. In this case the petition worked, at least for now. They know the world is watching and that does make a difference sometimes. Just look at the work Amnesty international does, writing letters and petitions is the method they use and they have saved countless lives that way.

And in the end there you say "killing gays vs. killing people", just to be clear, you do know gays are people right?

Just letting you all know the petition did have 1.4 million signatures and they blocked the bill twice because of it. They won't be voting for this bill until the next session which is years from now. I think it's safe to say that petitions do actually work.

No offense but if your argument for not signing this petition to help stop gays and a lot of other people is because "they are going to do it anyways" then you obviously don't think gays are equal. I recently signed a gay issue petition for McDonald restaurants in NEW ZEALAND to stop censoring gay web sites, thinking they are "inappropriate for children." @rawrisluv Yes petitions can and do help, but usually those are for issues that are going on in the US not in a place such as Uganda. Uganda isn't going to care if a bunch of people on-line signed something, the better thing to do would be to make a petition to send to someone in our government to try to do something about it by talking to the leaders in Uganda. I do think though that in the end it wouldn't HURT to sign the petition though.

Huge quantities of economic aid are given to Uganda by the West, stopping that would be an economic deterent though making the nation poorer may make it more desperate to scapegoat groups like gays. The West has a huge influence due to its money over these countries and petitions can change what our governments do.
