  • you could do this in Mason jars too... i have fond memories of my Mum making Kim Chee

  • thanks, this was very helpful

  • Matt u clown...you must be a die-hard Norman Walker fan..

it wears your enamel out..lol Love the show!!! 5*

  • This is awesome peeps:) Thanks for showing me how you do it. Do you find your jar works fine without a rubber seal? Hope ya'll are having some fun days on your land. And great idea on the leaves going on top.

  • Nice kitchen. I like it, Matt, that you added your 2 cents worth. Makes it seem honest and real, not like all "know-it-all"-ee.

  • I started making my bath of sauerkraut with pink sea salt last week. Hope it turns out right:o) My hands were so tired from massaging it!

    That is an awesome kitchen!

2 or 3 days? I thought it was 2-3 weeks??? Ugg! Maybe I should go check mine now! LOL

  • @organicfrmr wow, true!

  • Oh, and try putting some onions, spring onions, and especially ginger and a bit of chilli. Ginger goes amazingly with normal cabbage mixed with chinese cabbage

  • I love watching you guys. Matt thanks for sharing honestly about yourself. I have a very negative mind, always having disaster scenarios going on in my head. What helped immensely was the healing codes, and emotion code. Healing codes are I think the best thing out there that works quick, self-help tool to re-wire the brain&stop self sabotage. you can find the healing codes book on internet for free. i eat sauerkraut bcs cheaper than pills, but agree with mr walker. guy from Ejuva says the same

  • Awesome! I need to make more kraut soon! I made a kimchee style kraut last time...it was yummy! Is that a big window in your kitchen (where the black arch is behind the counter)? I noticed Angela's hair has bleached in the sun, alot lighter now...almost the same as Matt's! hehe

  • This is the best tutorial I have seen yet on sauerkraut. I have tried making it once but it wasn't great. I will try again with your method, thanks!

  • Thank you Angela, its great to see you doing a recipe. You explain things so well, keep up the great work Angels. Lots of Love Misscpb xxx

  • Fermented foods like sauerkraut should be a must for vegans, especially raw vegans, because they aren't naturally being exposed to good bacteria, like we are in nature. I personally make a lot of kefir, etc., but I always tell vegans to at least eat fermented veggies.

  • I just did a batch like that using cabbage, turnips, carrots and ginger. I wonder about the salt and high blood pressure?

  • is that a big berkley i see in the background in your very cool new kitchen and of course if iam correct then the next question would be when are you gonna do a show on the big berkley and of course you would what to do it in your very cool new kicthen

  • will any type of jar do?

  • @MovementAsPrayer

Use GLASS jars for best results.

  • Thank you for such a simple, clear explanation of making kraut.

Two questions: 1. Should one put probiotic powder into the kraut just as a precaution against bad bacteria? 2. Is your kraut jar sealed? I thought there should be airflow when fermenting (like just a layer of cheesecloth over the jar top)

  • @nicollo9 Ideally there should only be air going out of the jar. That's why most krauting jars have a fermentation lock on them. That way it prevents air from coming inside the jar while releasing the gas that builds up during the fermentation process. If the jar is completely sealed then too much pressure will build up over time.

  • just beautiful! how long does the kraut stay in the smaller containers, and do you refrigerate them until eaten, or leave them out? blessing!

  • what do you eat sauerkraut on? I've never had it.

  • Any tips or ideas how to make sweet & sour cucumbers?

  • I must admit, I am jealous of your kitchen, if you saw my kitchen you would laugh, you would fall on the floor laughing ....lol.

You could feed a large army using that kitchen, can we all come and stay with you? lol.

  • Thanks for all your work, you guys are so beautiful together, as for you recipe if you put a few slices of red beetroot in with the cabbage it gives it a wonderful pink colour, we use the same system with chopped white radishes & use bamboo skewers under the inside lip of the jar to hold every thing down

  • ANGELA!!!

  • Actually fermented foods are good for you body! They help put digestive enzymes into your body!

  • I agree with Matt - Fermented foods are not natural & not good for the body. They are actually rotting vegetables. I personally stay away from them. I had a negative reaction from sauerkraut the first time I tried it. No more. By the way are you going to put glass windows in your new kitchen area please share.???

  • Your kitchen is beautiful! Is it screens or glass windows?
