  • Thank you for your video! Was the first really helpfull one. But, every loads in uberoid, for the first time, but now my touchscreen doesn't work. Is there an easy fix for this or am I screwed?

  • @Orlatooo You might want to try an earlier/later version and see if the problem still persists.Or it could just be the fact that your not using the right version from the changer.bat selector, try the lot of them to get one that works for you.

  • @Orlatooo I tried option 8 and that got my screen working. I have the green LED with the silver back and silver home button.

  • hello i keep seeing something like go to a different changer bat or change bat because im trying to install this rom and I currently have the vestinous rom installed but touch screen is dead.I know how to copy to sd card and all that but now nothing installs over vestinious so I know im doing something wrong can you point out a step by step including the bat change or change bat thingy...thanks for your time.

  • @LaMarr37 Theres not much more to tell you other then what is on the first post on the Techknow forums...its all there in black and white for you. If it isnt installing over the old rom,it might be your tab,not the roms. These arent the highest quality things out there, and things like the screen dieing are normal. Just my opinion on that.

  • Thats just it,many options = tons of choices to make before you start modding...but thats not a bad thing, quite the opposite actually. It ensures that you find a version that works for you :) The only one you can ask about ICS is HcH on the Techknow forums, hes the brains behind these amazing roms, and hes a great guy to boot :)

  • The video was most encouraging. I rooted my ultra cheap 70$ 7" with v9. It' better proved to be a challenge. Rooted most of the 7" ROMs till No26 I touched the screen. Now there is a v10 to try. 9 is okay but blue tooth does not seem to be an option. I think I saw it on the original though it may not have worked. Android 4 is in the works does Uberoid have any plans in that direction? I'm not sure where to look for the latest, I found many versions

  • you sound like chrish griffen from family guy :D

  • @lazernut117 Yes,I do :) Could be worse.......

  • Just paid £24.99 for the 7" on eBay....very pleased with that for a "just browsing" look

  • You sound an awful lot like Tony Stark! ; )

  • How many versions of the Uberoid are?( in Slatedoid COM, say - v1,v2,v3, v4, v5. But in the web site (HcH.net.tc) there are v6.3, v9, v9.1 and v9.1.1. Isaw the warning information version it is "a modded 1.5.x firmware", also I read some about modded 1.5.x Android firmware it is slower than 1.3.x firmware. Its true? Which version you use and which you'll recomend? Thank You in advance!

  • @perrodingoo You have to give me a chance to read one post at a time, please :) My personal favorite is 6.1LiTE,its striped down and fast, but your millage may vary.Dont use any 8650 tablet, with any rom,for gaming...it isnt up to it. For pdf and comic/ebook reading, they perform well(with a custom rom),so no worries there.Theres no real difference between all of the different versions, just make sure you use the latest one,its always the safest bet.

  • @dragon2knight Thank you very much for the answer and sorry for so many questions.

  • The Uberoid firmware is a downgrade for better performance ( from 2.2 to 1.3 or 1.5), but how about the APK compatibility between the versions?

How about NEWGROUNDS COM flash content and games?

  • Very good review!

I am new in Androids. I know this is a Google OS based on Linux kernel. And also I know all the Chinese Androids from 65 to 200 USD have the same battery life, about 2- 4 hours. I need your advice. I need mostly an Android for book reading (epub, pdf, djvu, etc) and maybe some simple emulation, which one is better for that propose from the VIA WM8550 "family"?

  • and how do i install it?

  • @MrENIGMA717 Go to TechKnow forums and look at the first post under whichever version of Uberoid you plan on downloading and installing(its the post with the download link in it,you cant miss it,its by HcH).All you need to know is in that post :)

  • you sound like chris from family guy

  • @vipalexander1 I get that alot,lol :)

  • Go to 6.1 lite,my wifi works well on that.

  • Thanks for this. Works well .. But i dont have wifi on my M003s .. do you?

  • @dragon2knight have u experienced any problems with the camera and is it possible to reinstall the rom or another rom??

  • @oscarthebest123 Of course you can re install your rom if your having problems. I havent had a single problem with my camera, but some varieties of 8650 have had problems with the camera not working,if thats the only problem, try a different version of the rom, that may be the only way to fix it.

  • @dragon2knight can i install another rom such as singularity or hybrid v5 (i have the final version 6)

    thanks

  • @oscarthebest123 You can install any rom you want, regardless of who its from,as long as its for your tablet :)

  • @dragon2knight ok thank you very much

btw i cant go back to stock rom

  • @oscarthebest123 Why cant you reload the stock rom? Thats an odd one.Always remember that when you put the rom on your sd card that you have to format the sd card to fat 32,this must be done each time you load a rom.It helps eliminate problems.

  • @dragon2knight thank you for your support

and yes i always do that i will be trying singularity if one version is available for my tablet

one more question what rom do you prefer for a via 8650?

  • @oscarthebest123 I've had great luck with all the Uberoid varieties,so I generally stick to those, just my preference.

  • @dragon2knight thank you very much

  • @oscarthebest123

    your welcome :)

  • do we need to root it? if so, can someone provide, me a link on how to root the m003s. thanks

  • @JamminHawk I believe that the Uberoid rom roots the tablet already, but it isnt necessary to root it unless you want to.Use z4root,its the most compatable one I've used yet.

  • Is it possible to connect this tablet to an overhead projector?

  • for the slim types that is...

  • @misdrevenous ..now thats a good question to ask on the TechKnow forums,I honestly have no idea.Sounds

    intriguing,though!

  • hey weres the link?

  • I finally figured out what my device is... It's an EKEN M003S. I installed the version 6 lite and it's super fast!

I'm so happy right now that I could kiss you and HcH~ <3

  • @misdrevenous That was going to be my suggestion(its the onoe I own)glad you figured it out ;-) This rom makes a useless tablet perform like a winner,go on the forum(TechKnow) and thank him,he earned it and then some!

  • Ive got a stupid question. Im having a hard time setting changer.bat to a specific device because my tablet has no specific information that will let me identify it.

What I do know is that...

    - It's an 8" tablet

    - Black

    - Has WM8650

-Blue LED on the back button

    - 800mhz/512 ram

I tried all the options for Blue LED 8" on the changer.bat but it doesnt seem to work properly... Any ideas?

  • hi can u pleez tell me where u get the hch chip

  • @MrMattyboomboom If you mean wheredo you get the rom, theres a link to it in the text above(at the bottom)

  • Mine is still as slow as ever...

  • @misdrevenous Try the latest version(v6 final),its alot more stable and much faster than v5 is.

  • Umm.. where can I find v6?

  • Of i found it. thanks for the advice.

  • @misdrevenous No problem,glad I cuuld help.

  • the tablet i have can play 720p video.. its an m009 with blue led, a 7inch wm8650, the video was included on the stock rom.. its the trailer of kung fu panda 1.. i copied the file and looked it up on my pc to confirm if the video file really is a 720p video.. and it really is a 720p video.. this is the codec used on the video:

    *** VIDEO INFO ***

    Input Type : FMP4(GVC)

    Input Size : 1280 x 720

    Output Type : YUY2

    Output Size : 1280 x 720

    FrameRate(Frame/sec) : 0.00 (24.00)

  • @bytemyhardrive what format is this?.avi? .mkv?Which one is it?As it came with your tablet, you can bet it was set up to work as smooth as possible on it,so it was probably much lower bitrate than you would normally see on a 720p video you would convert yourself...all I have converted were very choppy and barely in sync, even with very low bitrates. As they say, your milage may vary.

  • @dragon2knight its an avi.. yeah i think that's what they did.. but even if they trimmed down the bitrate the pq is still very good, sharp vivid colors and smooth playback, no signs of lag.. i played it on a bigger screen and still no quality loss.. i'll do an experiment and convert my hd videos to that format they used and try to play it on the tab.. and i'll send you a copy of the file if you'd like so you can do your own experiment yourself..

  • @bytemyhardrive Sounds like a great idea, always trying to get more to work on our 8650's,thanks fo the help!

  • Is this a capacitive or resistive tablet?

  • @RevetmentSuns It's resistive. Your not likely to find, even from China, a capacitive screened taclet for less than $180.00US.You can get lucky and find a clearance, but thats about it. The resistive screen on the M003s is actually a good one for the price, with decent color reproduction and good resolution, so don't be put off by the fact its resistive :-)

  • @dragon2knight Does it play standard android market apps though? I can imagine games that require multi-touch are a no go but still?

  • @RevetmentSuns This is capable of using all market apps that don't require any kind of hardware acceleration,so games like Need for Speed are out of the question. But everything else is fair game.Trial and error is the name of the game with any tablet, but it should be known that every app I've tried so far has worked for me by simply using common sense before downloading them.If its a fancy 3D launcher,I know it won't work,so I ignore it and move on.Take that approach and you'll do fine ;-)

  • downloaded it and installed it and everything works way better on it(except the camera but i dont care for it) :-)

  • @TheReyboricua The camera is kinda useless...but at least theres one there in case you need it in the future, lol.

  • @0cache Oh yea,the 7" ones can be had for a pittance...the 8" ones are still over $90.00US,though.There are a few tablets out there right now that meet your criteria for an 8" capacitive, gps, blutooth tablet for around $200.00US...go on Pandawill and see for yourself :-)

  • Question: Can it run TurboFly 3D? smoothly? =]

  • @exProphecy I'm actually trying out v6 right now,and will be doing a video review with the results later today,I'll try this out on it :-)

  • @dragon2knight Ok,gave it a try today on the new v6.1 LiTE rom...and even in low graphic mode, with touchscreen controls,it played like watching a slide show, lol. It was playable,it just played awful.Remember, the Via 8650 has NO hardware acceleration,so 3D games like this are just too much for it.

  • thanks for the feedback. I found one on Ebay for 83USD and another from a wholesaler for $104USD both delivery included. Does it make a difference who i get it from as long as it runs VIA 8650. Specs were the same from both sellers.

  • @rvk11 Well,if you want custom roms to work, your always better off getting it from a reputable dealer, that way you can at least stand a chance of getting a more mainstream generic model with some history behind it.Makes it alot easier to identify when looking for a rom to use :-)

  • thanks for the feedback. I found one on Ebay for 83USD and another from a wholesaler for $104USD both delivery included.

  • Why are you using the stylus? Does the finger action not work well???

  • @rvk11 Finger action is just fine,I just hate fingerprints, lol. Plus it makes it easier to see what I'm showing on the video if my beefy sausage like fingers arent in the way ;-) Have no fear,it works fine with or without the stylus.

  • @dragon2knight A small rebuttal here on the Singularity rom...I have downloaded it and find it to be a decent rom,at least on par with the Uberoid one.Choice is a good thing, and its nice to see some choice being offered for our beloved low budget 8650 tabs ;-)

  • Very glad to have found this!! Very good ROM

  • Where can I buy the Eken M003s for $100? :)

  • @mammit Pandawill has them for $109.00US.Try them out,they're good :-)

  • @dragon2knight I have bought one from Pandawill and I'm very dissapointed, tablet was a used one instead of brand new, the screen was very loose and the battery drained too fast. I now have another m009s from a different vendor and everything is good, so I dont recommend anyone to buy from Pandawill !!!

  • @MrJulesPT I have bought several tablets from Pandawill,as have several of my friends, and all arrived in good condition. Its silly to think that everything you buy from a place will arrive perfect(they are shipping all the way from China, after all),and you probably just got a bad one. These are generic tabs that come from several different manufacturers, and quality control isnt the greatest at this price point. All you had to do was send it back to get a different one.

  • @dragon2knight Yea I just heard Singularity runs faster but you're right about HCH's Rom. Does seem like it has more features and is more updated =D

  • @exProphecy It has an awesome forum as well, join over there and learn as much as you can stand to learn about these roms and tablets,it how I did it :)

  • AW MAN Skype doesn't work? Have you tried Fring or Tango? Nice review by the way! Was looking for more Uberoid ROM reviews =D

  • Comment removed

  • @exProphecy I never said it didnt work,it actually works fine, just cant get video to work...but thats because Skype dosent have video set up to work with android yet...just found that out yesterday. I havent been able to get fring to download to my tablet yet,but will report back when I get it to work.Havent tried Nimbuzz yet, might try it today :)

  • @dragon2knight Oh yea I meant video chat on Skype. Try Fring or Tango. Nimbuzz is just chat and voice calling sorry bout that. Thanks for the reply! =]

  • @dragon2knight Havent had too much time today to try Nimbuzz, will try it tonite :)

  • @dragon2knight Oh yea have you tried Singularity yet? =]

  • Your voice looks like Chris Griffin from Family Guy aahha .

    Nice review!! :D

  • @Dajo8222 Haha,thanks,Dajo8222!

  • Programs that are not installable will be installable if installed with out the SD in the pad. Just safely remove the sd and install and it will work.. hoping for a fix soon also, maybe v6..

  • @ThomasKramerBeats Thanks for the info,I'll try that out :-)

  • @dragon2knight Excellent!! That worked, now all the apps I couldnt download have downloaded!! Great and easy fix, will put a note in the video with the fix, thanks!

  • how does documents to go run on this thing?

  • @pbarts2011 So far all I've used it for is pdf viewing, and it work very well for that purpose opening up some pretty graphic intensive pdf's. Sorry I cant comment on anything else it can do,as I just dont use it for office work.Anyone reading this use it for that?
