Hello. It has been about 4 years since i play guitar now. I learned everything on youtube and this was the very first guitar lesson I watched. its been 3 weeks and i have been practicing these chords but its very difficult with the pain in my fingers its like no blood in those fingers but still i am not able to play chords perfectly its doesnt sound like it should, i have to press really hard to get the chords hit perfectly but it pains what should i do tell me if it is normal or my guitar strings are too tight ?? plz help me some1 i have no friends who plays guitar and i cant even afford to take classes .

@shimje101 every note (ex. A, B, C, D, etc) has a major and minor chord. He taught the basic chords for playing in Cmajor. A minor is the relative minor for the scale, and E is the third of the scale, so its a minor chord. Search "music theory" and it will explain in better detail.

I have just recently bought a guitar i found this video very helpful but i found that i forgot the chords while he was talking in between so what i did i went on google and found a guitar fretboard, and a i marked the chords on the fret board and printed them out, i find it so much easy, this is my 2nd day of learning :) starting to put the pieces together now :). x

Is there a certain way I should put my fingers on the fret? I'm asking because after placing my fingers on the fret board as instructed, I strum the strings and it sounds stiff. Not at all like a chord should sound.

What he forgot to mention is that with the A, D, C, and Am chords, you strum only the bottom 5 strings.

Is the "C chord" the same thing as the "C Major chord", and the "d chord" the same as the "d major chord" and so on? because I watched another video showing the same chords except they didn't add "major" to it, it was just "c chord" or "d chord" and so on.

@Slothth Yes, they are the same thing. Any time you see a chord just written as the letter, it's a major chord.
