  • eh thats new...

  • The world's loudest trumpet.

  • How long is the wind up? Half sec

  • Dang...that's a powerful siren...where in Milwaukee is this located?

  • why only 3 cycles of attack

  • @lilaj34siren Milwaukee County does pretty short tests, I have no idea why. They used to do a couple minutes each of alert and attack back when I was a kid.

  • How do sirens rotate without snapping wires?

  • @FlashBang214 Most use commutators and brushes. The motor is fed current by contact surfaces (brushes) that collect power as they drag along the surfaces of stationary (commutator) rings which are connected to the power source. I'm probably not explaining it very well, google commutator ring for a better explanation.

  • @FlashBang214 brushes and collector rings like Ramfett said the electricity travels through the brushes to the chopper

  • @FlashBang214 With Brushes and collector rings.

  • Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame

  • @doverpoint1 Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck oooooooooooooooooooff.

  • @doverpoint1 Dont diss people because your not interseted in the things you are where all entitled to our own opinions.

  • Is this one still there?

  • XD its tones sound "happy" though. It's like, NUCLEAR ATTACK!!! (happy siren goes off)

  • Garland, TX had these!!

  • @dritb4 No, I don't. Most sirens aren't too bad. I go to a lot of stock car racing during the summer and those tend to bother my ears a lot worse than a siren going off for a few minutes.

  • dude i know its not as loud on youtube but how loud was it there, from 1 to 10

  • @bubblez920 Well, I actually set this camera up on a tripod and left it to go record with a second camera, closer to the siren. I was around 100-150 feet closer, and I'd rate it maybe a 7 or 8, with 10 being a P-50 with it's projector towards you.

  • theres one near my school in hialeah it sounds like a siren before an airstrike in ww2

  • it looks similar to the thunderbolt sirens. almost like they are related

  • @kearlyta Both the Thunderbolt and the Hurricane use a blower to force extra air through the chopper so they don't lose sound when lowering in pitch. This also gives them a sharper sound that is much more metallic and sounds like a roar. The Hurricane is SIGNIFICANTLY louder than the Thunderbolt though.

  • @Thewoog34 how so....i was sitting under a thunderbolt at a picnic with the family when it suddenly went off...my ears hurt for 3 days

  • @lilaj34siren The thunderbolt's measured sound output is 125 db at 100 feet for the dual tone version. The dual tone Hurricane's measured sound output at 100 feet is 130 db. In case you are wondering, that is almost 4 times the sound pressure as the T-bolt, and that makes sense. This siren has a chopper with 2 intakes, one on each side, and a 30 hp blower VS the Thunderbolt's 1 intake and 7.5hp blower.

  • sounds like bagpipes XD

  • where is this thing ?? I live in Waukesha, I would love to go give it a listen !

  • @ProfessorIgor North side of Milwaukee, behind the fire station at 82nd and Bradley

  • @RamFett they dont plan on taking it down anytime soon do they

  • @lilaj34siren I certainly hope not!

  • looks like the rotator is struggling

  • I like this better than the Thunderbolt. If the Hurricane has solenoids in it, they would be within the siren head and therefore would not be visible from the outside. This makes it hard to know if it can do high/low unless you look at the controller box.

  • Cool!

  • sounded like a tbolt at windup sort of

  • @WindowsFan1 it winds faster then a thunderbolt

  • is this still tested on the 2nd wednesday of the month?

  • Comment removed

  • @trainz675 I should go check then out! Are they north or south of the metro?

  • This sounds like a table saw...

  • @kasm279 Lol, kinda does

  • That's a VERY fast wind-up , sounds very healthy too:)

  • wait a minute...why would milwaukee need a hurricane siren, no hurricanes go up so far up

  • @TitanLover8011 Just the name ACA gave this particular model. It's used for tornadoes.

  • LOVE IT. Great video Ram!

  • @SantaFebuff Thank you! More sirens to come this year.

  • Greetings 2U back during the late summer of 1990 while on my first date @ Shawnee Mission Park here in Overland Park, Kansas a very very un-expected storm came through bending trees over but they did not snap the winds were sooo strong that my convertible top actually came disconnected from the car the winds were strong! UR video that my nephew happened to come acrossed to show this really brought back some cool kool but trippy memories, ThankS

  • @DJSLIMER1 Thanks to you for the kind words. Glad my video brought you some good memories.

  • I wish they made this with solenoids. I'd LOVE to hear what one of these would sound like in hi-lo

  • @JKSK8ERLIVE, first off, WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE!!! Second off I meant could this siren be used for hurricanes too!

  • Hurricanes seem to have a really fast pick-up from the ones I've seen.

  • how many ports r there?

  • @MrSciencetificsasuke This one sounds to be 8/10.

  • @RamFett thanks

  • Now guessing by the name of the siren, it is used for Hurricanes only?

  • @Coolmasta8 Yeah, we get hurricanes off Lake Michigan all the time.

  • @RamFett i thought hurricanes r only on ocean's only :l

  • @RamFett

    hurricanes from a lake???

  • @KnittingPasta He is just teasing Coolmasta8.

  • @RamFett those are called water spouts and they are 95% of the time harmless.

  • @Rcrby525 Ya, the other 5% of waterspouts for some reason are almost always down south.

  • @Rcrby525 he was being sarcastic lol

  • @RamFett Yeah, we do....0.0 are you telling me all of the hurricanes in michigan are fake?! Meanie! LIES! LIES!!!! NO ONE WILL BELIEVE YOU! Well, ill be, theres a hurricane right now :B hahaha jk :D.

  • @Coolmasta8 No, it is not.

  • @Coolmasta8 no u boner! tornadoes damn

  • This is ACA's best sounding siren

  • @whoisthisguy724 In the top 3, easily. P-50's are hard to beat.

  • This is the first time I have ever seen a Hurricane whose rotator worked... kind of cool to see it rotating for once. The fast wind up is painful though, very painful!

  • i dont know why but when i look at this siren i think of candy

  • love the wind up

  • Sounds somewhat like a 3T22

  • this is the type of siren we need in our town :)

  • I preferred the sound of the Allertor 125, I think

  • @athull08 Both are exceedingly creepy sounding at a distance. The wind up/down on these is so unique, but both are great.

  • Awesome Hurricane!

  • @mohkfry Thank you and they are awesome Indeed! Too bad they're so rare now.

  • The Ohio Hurricane is from Attason,OH

  • It turns out that this siren is the closest unit to ASC's new facility which is about 1/3 of a mile to the west of this siren.

  • Sounds cool in attack!!!

  • listen to the beginning wind up not even the thunderbolt can beat how threatening it sounds. both tones of this siren are very easily heard....i kinda like it

  • is it true that it is a rare siren?

  • @ZFMN Yes, they are. Milwaukee County may have had as many as 15 at one point, this being the lone survivor. Other than that, there aren't very many left nationwide, either. Municipalities in TX, MN & IL are the only other places i know to have had them. They were seemingly low in number to begin with, so the functioning survivors are indeed few and far between.

  • @RamFett OH has an ACA Hurricane i saw it

  • La Crecent MN has 2 of them, got video of one. only 1 works and sounds monthly. the other one was recently turned off

  • would it be nice if they made some of these with solenoids

  • @hootergirlsrhot They did.

  • So when were these built and still in production. Like a modern Thunderbolt or what?

  • 1968 to 1973 for the square horned Hurricane. 1973 to 1980 for the round one. Also, MKI was never an official name, just a fan term used by some people.

  • i still dont get why they have 2 sections of the horn to lead to both choppers, its just strange

  • @TheFiremansavage it's just the Way its Designed....in the Thunderbolt both sections of the rotor lead out to a single horn...in the hurricanes case the Throat of the horn is divided.

  • rare siren

  • It looks and rotates like a thunderbolt but what has me confused is if its single or double toned.

  • @Lightningbladesonic Dual tone. 8/10 port, I believe.

  • these are very rare

  • How big that chopper? half a foot long?

  • @Thunderbolt505 That , I have no Idea. Might be their own model. I didn't ALL their sirens are copies.

  • That is my favoritre soounding siren ever.Danm i wish they still made it!!!!! The thunderbolt 1003 and this is my favorite sirens.

  • There's a Hurricane in Greenville,Texas...i Hope its Still Active!

  • @form109 There's one remaining Hurricane in Darien, IL, but no one has got a video of it. A video of the removed one still lingers on Youtube. There's an inactive square-horned Hurricane in Centralia, IL. La Crescent, MN has two active Hurricanes, although the rotators have been welded in place for both of them.

  • @HyperFlameGuy its Dumb to Weld the Rotators.

  • @form109 They did it to keep the sound from blasting into local neighborhoods. I understand that they want to keep people from losing their hearing, but the whole point of a siren is to produce a loud warning sound to notify residents to take cover.

  • @HyperFlameGuy well seeing how the siren is designed to rotate, its much less effective just pointing in one direction.....if they were going to do that they might as well have not installed them at all....sirens are meant to be loud yes.

  • @form109 From what I understand, the Hurricanes are having some issues and might be removed soon, so they might replace them with sirens that won't be welded in place, but we will see.

  • @form109 Thats a mark 1. The only one left. Sadly its not active.

  • @dinxton2 The One in Greenville,Texas is the only one left?

  • @form109 The only square one left. I've got some pictures of it on my chanel

  • @dinxton2 do you know anything about the MK1 in Greenville?

  • @form109 The square horned Hurricane featured on dinxton's channel is in Centralia, IL. Greenville has an MKII.

  • @form109 I believe it is, but it no longer has a blower. Hasn't had one for quite some time now.

  • @murrfarms yeah come to think of it i dont remember seeing a blower, the siren would be quite ineffective without it.

  • @form109 Theres one still active in La Crecent MN! the other one is getting fixed, but there are 2 hurricanes in La Crecent.

  • @form109 It's Not, Unfourtantely, It got disconnected.

  • This is great! Thanks so much for posting this. I've never gotten to see a Hurricane operate before because they are so rare. This is a treat!

  • aca hurricane is like the thunderbolt's grandchild. it sounds like it, only highter pitched. plus it looks so much like a t-bolt.

  • why would there be and ACA hurricane sieren in wisconsin

  • @MrMrCub Hurricane is just the name of this particular model. It's used for tornadoes. And ACA was based in Mequon, WI, only a few miles from this siren, so it makes sense that it would be there.

  • @RamFett do these use blowers like the thunderbolts???

  • @Branden2732 Yes.

  • @RamFett oh i thought the did because theres a second pole attached to the wooden one.

  • How come the ACA hurricanes are so Rare?

  • Do you have any idea how HUGE these are? They are huge, like as big as a compact car!I think they are the biggest sirens out there other than the T-135 and the chrysler vic siren

  • These sirens just wind up so fast. I mean they don't take forever to wind up. the siren activates and boom!!

  • @ 0:12 (wind-up) it sounds like a thunderbolt and at 1:52 until 2:22 it is like the windup/wind down mode

  • Comment removed

  • Too bad you don't see more of these jet-powered french horns around...

  • i know. aca corp. has fs's permission to copy their sirens. and so does sentry, if you have seen the 20vt siren , with looks alot like a 2t22 or a 3t22.

  • @Droideka133 What's your proof for this? At this point, why the hell would either company want to copy any of Federal's garbage siren designs? Both ASC and Sentry are producing superior products of their own design. Federal Signal hasn't made anything worth copying in years.

  • @RamFett

lol yeah FS has produced some pretty crappy sirens lately. Ever since 1990, all they've produced is total crap. 1990 was the last year the Thunderbolt was made, and it was their biggest mistake EVER. The only good siren they still make is the Model 2. ASC (formerly ACA) makes the T-128, which is like the 2001 but much lower tone. Great alternative to one of the worst sirens ever made.

  • @RamFett f.s. is not garbage. it can be pos.

  • @train2589 Pretty much the only good siren they are producing is the model 2 and eclipse. The mod and DSA are alright, but still, they just arent making sirens like they use too...

  • @RamFett Are you forgetting the Thunderbolt?!

  • the only difference between an aca hurricane and a cd thunderbolt, is the sound ,wind up,horn ,and size. besides that, they are pretty much the same thing.

  • @Droideka133 They are Both Supercharged Sirens Yes......and the Square Horned Hurricane (Extremely Rare) is almost a Duplicate.

  • aca hurricanes are just like thunderbolts. they use a blower and a chopper

  • I heard one of these when it wasnt a test, MAN IT WAS SCARY! But the "All Clear" Is relieveing.

  • Is this siren used for tornado warnings along with all the other sirens in the county? I've never seen an ACA Hurricane in person.

  • @TspesVladD Yep, it's part of the county system and is also owned by the county.

  • The wind-down is quite eerie on this one.

  • Agreed. To me, this more than any other siren sounds like the end of the world approaching.

  • This is the best Hurricane video I've ever seen. Great work!!!

  • ROFLMAO!! this thing sorta sounds ALOT like a jacke harmonica...i live in montogmery alabama and even MY siren doesnt sound like this!! xD no offense tho...rlly

  • hold on guys me and hyperflameguy looked on bing maps sadly it has replaced with a asc t-112 we still have 2 thunderbolts 2 allertors 2 t-121 and now 4 t-112s

  • any proof? I dont think bing has updated their maps recently

  • @rhett443 i live in cedar falls i seen every siren

  • This is one of my favorite videos of yours. That Hurricane is so loud, it takes out the wind noise in the beginning of the video VERY easily.

  • Thanks. This was one of my favorites to record and hear in person. I only wish there were more of these beasts around.

  • Is this one still there?

  • my friend said it had 2 horns that goes in to 1 horn and it was square

  • I've looked all over the place for sirens in Cedar Falls, but have only found an Allertor.

  • I'm going to La Crescent in the summer to get both hurricane video-taped. At this point, you can find pictures of them by searching "La Crescent Mn sirens"

  • I live across the river from la Crescent Minnesota I am in La Crosse do you know when they do there tests in la Crescent Minnesota I could attempt to get some video

  • @dpcomm1 I was told by the F.D. that it goes off the first Wednesday of the month at 11:00 A.M. The police is in charge, and sets them off.

  • @dpcomm1 Mn does siren tests on the first Wednesday of each month @ 13:00

  • @dpcomm1 Mn does siren tests on the first Wednesday of each month @ 13:00

  • A GOT A SQUAR HURRICANE IN MY TOWN

  • The hell you do! Put a vid of it up...those things are beyond rare!

  • If you really do and your not just kidding take a picture or at least tell us the town

  • Centralia has one.

  • I've seen pics of that one, and it might be the only square horned hurricane left =(

  • What state????????

  • Illinois.

  • @clowj69 Are you sure that it wasent a Thunderbolt??

  • Some Hurricanes are square horned.

  • Thunderbolts only have 1 horn, by far it was the ultra-rare square horned Hurricane,

  • BS. The ACA Hurricane MK I is one of the rarest sirens of ALL TIME

  • actually the hurricane 130 is the square horned hurricane. MK1 = 130 so tecnically the one in this video and the one in my garage are MK||'s

  • Good point. My dad pointed out my typo. Thanks.

  • what part of Milwaukee is this Located?

  • @rysho1 North side, next to the fire station located at 82nd and Bradley if memory serves.

  • porch money part of milwaukee?

  • nice windup

  • do these sirens have a blower like the thunderbolt?

  • You again? I thought you were an expert on all sirens.

Yes, they use a roots blower to supercharge a small rotor, just like Thunderbolts.

  • I heard this is the 3rd loudest siren in the world. Is that true?
