One of things that struck me, is how we now have churches attempting to intervene in the "state." I often think that it was clear from the teachings of Christ and the Disciples that it was the church that woudl be corrupted by politics. A man cannot have two Master. Whenever religion and politics coincide, religion is the one truly damaged.
Contradictions that go unnoticed by a dog, a monkey and an antediluvian. Don't rock the state boat, state authorises slavery, bible allows slavery, modern Christians "know slavery to be wrong".
@calmreason The suffering of Christ and God is the same as the suffering of the Slave (see the Exodus as the primary example) in the Christian tradition. What you see as a contradiction, I see as the church / Peter wrestling with a thorny problem.
