Forget the song. The shootout itself is a joke that undermines the legitimacy of the game to appease people who don't like hockey. If you can't sell hockey at a grassroots level, if kids can't play organized hockey in that town or are playing it in the streets or a backyard pond, you've got nothing. All this does is reduce hockey to a video game and artificially inflate a team's statistics. The game has been sold out to people who don't care about it.
