I was working on the Sydney Olympics and at our media accommodation village we were able to watch BBC World, while in the Broadcast Centre we could watch BBC's London bulletins. David Lowe's theme and the BBC's usage of the theme for openers, fillers and "top of clock" was excellent.

I'd have to agree the best news theme ever!

I agree. I'm not sure about anyone else but I prefer these 1999 mixes to the current themes, which sound too 'beefed' up. The '99 News 24 countdown is amazing - the current one doesn't have the same gravitas IMO.

first: The Britains knows what is the best music for a news chanel like BBC! Here in South Germany, we've only stupid old music. I love all the music of the BBC since the late '90s. I have lots of remixes on my iPod and listen to them over the hole day. On my last party I used one of them, and one guy asked me where he can get the music. When I told him that this was a news intro of the BBC, he looked very suprised!
