I've always loved this song. Great to dance to and I had the right partner. He is gone now but I still sing away to it. Thank you for bringing back memories. Virginia, Ohio
jeanie frickie still sings on rfd-tv but not to many cable stations carry this tv station--its great when they bring out all the singers still living--even kitty wells was on
I, like many others it seems love the Emmylou version, but this is a wonderful rendition of this beautiful song. Thanks for posting it. Country music forever!!
Thank you for posting this and reviving dear memories. I was a music director in radio 1981. At a party in Nashville, Johnny walked up to me and gave me a sweet kiss which I've never forgotten. No big deal, just a friendly kiss as gentle as this song. Also I got to visit with Sonny Throckmorton at that time. Thanks for refreshing some treasured memories.
Johnny is really great on this favorite of mine. He has such a smooth pleasant voice and really does justice to all his music. I believe anyone could learn to waltz very easily to this song if they don't already know how. I, too, had only heard this song by T.G. Shepherd, whom I love. It's hard to believe Johnny's gone. Thank you for posting this. - Paula
Paula - It would be worth your while to get Emmylou Harris' "Cimmaron" album - I recently did a ruthless weeding of my old vinyls, but that one is in A very safe place. On it ELH does this tune with a priceless Ricky Skaggs fiddle outro, Aloha
A couple of friends and I attended a show by Emmylou here in our city the night she asked Ricky to join her band. It was really exciting. He is quite a musician for sure - from our state, too. Willie was on the same bill but we were disappointed in his actions during his show that evening. He has a great voice, however. - Paula
This tune is one of the favoured instrumentals at dances.
If the band has a decent vocalist with them it works equally well for dances. This song is however one of those tunes that has to be presented properly or it dies with the audience very quickly.

I used to hang out with TG Shepard in Lawton Oklahoma in the late 70's, and I always thought it was his song. Who did it first?
Great tune.
