I absolutely love the "Adoration of the Lamb".

Its just that the painting is copmlex and beautiful. Its one of those works that makes a viewer contemplate. If any more insight was desired, it woudl require massive intellectual effort.

The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb-a.k.a. The Ghent Altarpiece is without question one of high marks of western religious art.

One of my favourite painters ever since I saw a painting of his, of Christ on the cross, with a tear on his face that looked extraodinarily like a real drop of water on the canvas. Also Christ's green mantle in the picture was such a vivid green and his skin so luminous, his features so real looking. The whole image just jumped out at you. I did not see it among the pictures included here though and I don't now remember what it was called, but he's an extraodinary painter.
