  • I never finished this game. Stuck on CD1. Should I play it*/finish it.

  • I love this song, but there one I like more, Hunting Theme/When You Fight Hades.

  • Zidane goes all out with very little of his power, then all his friends come along. I remeber that xD

  • This is the best song in FFIX man...thanks for having such good taste ^^

  • Its not really a Battle theme, its a case of a Background theme staying during the battles, or are we calling Aerith's theme a battle theme now? Even so, its my favourite piece of music ever, and i'm glad to see it on any list due to its pure awesomeness!

  • This was used in a battle.

  • It was used during the entire scene on Terra after Zidane talks to Garland.

It staying on during battles instead of being switched out for a regular battle theme, is something done in games at times.

Examples include: The infamous Aerith's death from FF7, Kimahri vs Yenke&Biran, and the strectch where Fleeting Dream is played, both from FF10, The Ocean Palace from Chrono Trigger, i should stop soon because of the character count.

  • Dissidia?

I was talking about FF9 itself.

This theme was on a battle when Zidane was fighting series of bosses alone until friends appeared out of nowhere.

And I have no idea what you just said.

  • SPOILERS FOR FFIX!!!!

It started while Zidane was thinking about himself, questioning his right to have a happy life in that he should have been what Kuja was, it then stayed on through the scene where Zidane shuns his friends until Garnet manages to get through to him that he's not alone, that his friends are sticking by him no matter what (hence the song's title).

As i already said you have a similar situation in FF7 where in the most spoiled scene ever (cont below)

  • SPOILERS FOR FFVII

Aerith's Death. Aerith's Theme stays on during the entire scene from the White Materia falls on the floor, until the screen fades to black and prompts you to change disc. Including a boss battle.

By the logic derived from your statement Aerith's Theme is a boss theme.

As i stated you have similar occurences of music othervise used as background themes staying on during battle(s)

BTW i never mentioned Dissidia, there's a Garland in FFIX to you know.

  • @NorthernDruid Depends on which version of the game you play. I own one of the first releases of FFVII & I can tell you in it that the music did change from Aeris' theme to Jenova's in the boss fight at the end of Disk 1. Mind you, the first release did not have the flashback/cut scenes involving Zack's fate in it either.

  • @NorthernDruid 4 real garnet only had to show her boobs and he was all fine but no they tried it the hard way lol

  • wow..this was a theme i would never forget and will always be in my heart when i first heard it!

final fantasy 9 is a really great final fantasy that too many people put down....ff9 is the best =D

  • This song used to make me tear up. Such a beautiful song.

  • yay final fantasy

  • now i really want to play final fantasy IX

  • I was wondering when this would show up on the list. I think it probably deserves a higher spot, but 24 ain't bad.

  • ME TOO :P

  • ME THREE :D

  • I get shivers everytime i play that part :S

    it's number 2 for me

#1 Dark messenger. (Trance kuja battle)

    #2 You're not alone.

    #3 Final batle

  • Amen to that!!!

  • This song... this is to me everything I loved about IX. It remains my favorite FF to this day.

  • Best damn song in FFIX. Hands down. So powerful

  • Actally powerofdestiny, Vivi may have died since Black Mages don't live long in Final Fantasy TT. He left kids but they'll never replace Vivi, NEVAH!

  • Comment removed

  • wow how was i able to forget such an epic song?? really nice 5*

  • the Garland of FF1 and FF9 had the same name, but they had different powers and goals.

  • yeah it was terra. the battles were easy, all you have to do is power up thievery and then the game becomes so much easier all together.

  • Don't forget Dragon's Crest. Works like Thievery, but based on dragon kills.

  • yeah, there was thievery, dragon's crest and if you had the patience, frog drop. frog drop was based on number of frogs caught X Quina's level

  • Oh God, not Frog Drop.

    ANYTHING but Frog Drop!

  • Wait...whats wrong with frog drop? i personally thought that Quina was an incredible character with some really good blue magic, once again if you took the time to get them, and frog drop was one of the easier of the 3 attacks to power up and you could get it really early on.

  • Quina's so slow...so very slow...

Catch it, damn you! Catch it...catch it... *sob*

  • Haha, yeah i got so fed up with that game sometimes :-D

  • Damnit! Quina put the fork down fatty!!!

  • lol

  • what battle does this play in IX I can't remember

  • Its near the end of disc 3 when the group is on the other planet, Terra I think, and Zidane was taken by the man who made him and brainwashed in a way. Well its when his friends finally find him and he goes through about 4 battles in which this theme plays.

  • garland is the name of the guy, i'm not sure but i heard somewhere the garland in ff9 had connections to the one in ff1?

  • This FF had some cool humor too and I like the active time events. Also a powerful storyline.

  • EPIC!!!

  • Its not a battle themes ! its a background music....

This is The first Rip music i evermake (wave files - use PC emulator i named its "dont give up" if u play the game u will understand why) like so so long ago still stored in my ext-HDD

  • Actually it doubles as battle music as for a brief moment in the game, Zidane kinda loses it and this plays through a series of battles.

You obviously havent completed it or gotten to disk 3/4.

  • im pretty sure the only reason ppl liked ff 6 is because of that 4th character whats his name hes like a monk or something and stupidly strong in my opinion i like ff 4 the best because its challenging and in the final dungeon you die A LOT cuz like every monster is a boss, 9 wasnt that good.... at all

  • the final dungeon wasn't that hard at all.. i will agree that 6 was easier though.

  • You mean Sabin? Thats actually never ever the reason. People like it for various reasons that have nothing to do with Sabin's strength, which isnt THAT great

  • the story was great man wut u talkin bout?

  • Okay, sorry, you're right; story was good.

Really it was the battle system, characters and their design that got to me. I spent the whole game wishing I could throw everyone except Vivi and Amarant off a cliff. Then, after sitting through the battle system, I wanted to throw the game off the cliff with em.

  • I MIGHT CRY FROM READING THIS

i thouhgt ff 9 WAS the best final fantasy ever!

Nothing in my eyes coems close 2 it, the mini games, the story, it has the most remberable music and emotions, well in tye with ff 10's

    :'(

    (L) FINAL FANTSAY IX

  • for me its ff8 and on second place comes ff9 :)

great work, i rly love this song, that brings back memories *-*

  • i agree, final fantasy ws brilliant, the characters and the story really got to me. i personaly loved vivi, he was so awesome and yet we never know what happens to him in the end.

  • Freya kicked ass.

    Therefore, your logic is fallacious.

  • Okay, okay, Freya can stay on the cliff. ^.^

lol Fall-acious. Get it? Cuz the stuff I didn't like I wanted to throw off a cliff XD

  • Yeah, this song is amazing. Hell, the entire soundtrack to FFIX is amazing.

  • This song puts me in my happy place XD

  • Now we're talkin! This is in my top 10 though.

  • man...best song next to Dark Messenger (Trance Kuja fight) nice job Trend, i agree with your picks better than Underworlds, even though he did a great job still.

  • man i love this song

    also the game

to me, its still have the best storyline of all FF i ever played

  • Oh man. The fact that I remember this is a testament to it's excellence.

  • This wouldn't make sense a battle theme if u didn't play FFIX

  • One of the most catchy events in FF9, if not in any video game.

  • I don't know why but this tune is quite relaxing

  • all it takes to make one part worth playing is good music.

  • I have to admit that this is one of my favorite songs ever.

  • This is my favorite game of all time, if ever I doubt that, I just need to be reminded of a scene like the one this song is in.

  • It's right after your talk with Garland in Pandemonium Castle. It's while you're fighting past all those monsters alone, while your party tries to convince you that you're not alone. Thus the song title.

  • And when Dagger joins you to fight the turtle and dies every round, I die a little inside.

You know, because I'm reminded of how little I can stomach using her. >___>

  • what the name of this song please? FF is my favorite game and im trying to find alot of my favorite songs

  • It's in the title description and in the video...

  • not alone

  • .......holy crap! i forgot about that song! i think i wanna play this again

  • That part was as hard as possible, but worth it to play because of this.

  • Agree'd definitely one of my favorite tracks.

  • this song got me teary eyes thee part of the game made me sad

  • this so deserved a top 20 spot

one of best themes in FFIX by far

  • This really makes me want to play FFIX again... VERY underrated game in the series. Like TheTrendSetter said, that was one of the best moments in FF history.

  • This is my fave from FF9 too, one of the best in Final Fantasy, really. This song is made of so much win. =D

  • This is a battle theme?

I just have to play this game once. This soundtrack convinces me.

  • tecnely its not but there a point on the second disc that its in the middle of a few series of battles im sure sure if it plays while you fight but yea its in the middle too

  • it plays end of 3rd disc during an event and a series of battles that I consider one of the best moments in FF history...not to mention the music is great

  • It's during a battle, but one you wouldn't expect (I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't played the game). I remember trying to look for this song for about two years (before I found out about youtube) and could never find it and when I did I made sure I saved it on everything I could possibly imagine. Truly one of Nobuo's best songs imo.

  • This song is great, but I almost fucking died on the three bosses, and I my last save was still in the other world, so I would've had to go through Terra(Is that what it's called?) all over again (I couldn't find the fucking moogle!)

  • same thing happened to me, its a very hard part as you are thrown into the fight with characters you may have not even equipped good things to for a while. I didnt fing that moogle the first time either, so I was way back.

  • Yeah, I never used Quina, Amarant, Eiko (Is that her name? I changed all the characters' names), or Freya. My party was Zidane, Garnet, Vivi, and Steiner (forgive me if I'm missing a character, I haven't played in a long time)

  • I love this song! I never really considered it a battle theme though. But now that I think about where it was in the game, it makes sense. Great song that deserves this high of a ranking.

  • YEEEES!!! TheTrendSetter89 I love ya! Thank you for letting this be here!!! My favorite song in FFIX! Thank you ^.^

  • Why you're absolutely welcome

  • hope the extreme is in this :P

  • Thanks for this! My favorite from FF9 too.

  • yes! this is my all time favorite from FF9. I'm really glad it's in the top 25, I love this one.
