To clear up the confusion, it was Kathleen Hanna (then of Bikini Kill, now of Le Tigre) who wrote 'Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit' on his wall. She did so because Kurt had begun dating Tobi Vail (also of Bikini Kill fame) and Tobi apparently used this brand of deodorant. At least half the songs on the Nevermind record are supposedly about Tobi Vail.

The song Kurt wrote for Traci Marander after listening to 'Meet The Beatles' for hours is called 'About A Girl', from the 'Bleach' record.

@mjca91 I don't find a real similarity. There are some similar notes. Out of the 7 different notes on Daytripper, 5 of them appear in the white lace riff. But all together, i'd never think of daytripper while listening to this. And it's hardly one of the beatles songs that i happen to like.

@nirvanafrik Well yes, the lyrics mainly come from random words put together, but he was trying to write "the ultimate pop song" (quote from kurt cobain) cause he was obsessed by tht "pop" aspect of the beatles, and wanted to do something pop, but the name smells like teen spirit comes from the fact that his old girlfriend once said "hey you smell like teen spirit", teen spirit being a deodorant brand for young girls that she was using.
