I was aboard the Illinois Zephyr on December 19, 2008, and the Amtrak Cascades engine was at the front at the time. I thought it might have been because of the ice storm we had. However, since you filmed this video on December 14, 2008, its likely that there are reasons why Amtrak Cascades was used.

No one knows when anything good is coming on that train. Hell, for all I know, Cascade F59PHIs could very well be trailing on it to get repairs at Chicago just like the AmCal units on the California Zephyr and SW Chief.
