It is amazing that the Church of Rome never understood that St. Augustine was a Calvinist before Calvin and allowed him to hold a bishopric ( a position which most Protestants say is unbiblical), say Mass (when there is no such thing as the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist) and be made one of the Church Fathers.

Thank God John Calvin came along in the 16th Century to straighten us out about who Augustine was.

Catholics are for the most part idolaters. My wife is from Nicaragua and they pray to and worship Saint Mary. Every year St. Mary is prayed and singed to from a friend or relitive's house. There is a "shrine" .If this is not idolatry then I don't know what is. Anything that distracts you from Jesus Christ and the Father is idolatry. You are exactly right! I am too a catholic but I steer clear of that devotional stuff because it does NOTHING to enhance your relationship with God. You see, catholics have to create other Gods- virgins and have miraculous medals to pray to coz they can't believe in God if they can't stare at an object! Funny how many people say that we worship Mary. I am not a great Theologian, but I don't pray to Mary because she is not God! I ask her to pray for me, as I would someone here. Even I know the difference. God/Christ is the Creator- Mary is a creation- a powerful and influential one in heaven.

I got back from a tour of some of the holy places in Europe. Churches where Christians have prayed for many centuries, in some over a thousand years. I have seen the faith, the hope, and the love of my Catholic brethren. I have experienced that feeling of Christendom.

Even the Catholic Church agrees that general revelation ceased at the death of the last apostle (John). We know from the scriptures that "Scriptures are God-breathed", and we don't need Tradition, as there are many traditions that Catholics don't adhere to (Premillenialism, semi-pelagianism), that that Church fathers believed.

We know that Tradition is not as safe as we think. The Jews also believed in traditions, but Christ refuted them with the Scriptures, which were KNOWN to be inspired.

It isn't? before the church gathered to decide what books would be included in the "official" version of the new testament it was tradition that was used by Christians. As I said before, as long as tradition does not go against what's writen then is a tool that can be used. It helped the early church father to understand better the scriptures. The Tradition of a ceremonial handwashing before a meal held by the Jews in the 1st century supposedly didn't contradict the scriptures, yet Jesus refuted them in this Tradition, by using the Scriptures. Because of this, we know that the scriptures are inspired.

We don't need an infallible Church that defines Tradition and Scripture, just as the Jews didn't need an infallible authority to receive scripture.
