See, THIS is why I turn comments off on my videos. Doesn't matter what you put up there, the idiots will let their fingers fly. Nice landing BTW, nice field too!
The 'shortness' of field is relative here considering the obstacle on final and the type of the aircraft. I think it was a good landing and the guy was on top of it. I've got hours and landings and icing stories and 200' ILS breakouts under my belt and we can all sling comparative arguments and ego around but that doesn't make it not a good landing :)
Wow, are all you pilots giving this guy shit for his landing? It was a perfect approach & touchdown. Steep approach, nice descent rate, perfect speed. For all you instructors, gee do ya think his aim point might not be the first brick...it actually might be the point in the runway where the bottom of it actually starts to slope up. Hmmm, nice decel rate on a hill. Flap raise...wow,,big risk...works wonders. Good piloting meets common sense here...confusing for many I know.
It does look like there's a hill in the final approach path so mabye steeper than typical 3 degrees. Many a/c will allow you to forward slip if you are high. When on short final repeat the following: "airspeed and lineup" over and over!
Probably slightly fast on final...low-wing aircraft will spank you with "float" if you are fast on approach. Ground effect is more pronounced than a Cessa (high wing). Hence the possible reason for a long landing.
yeah with small planes you dont need much space to land. sometimes air traffic controll will direct 1 pilot to land on the numbers and the other in the middle. Usually done with small aircraft like that. and I think he did it here because of the tall trees at the begining of the runway.
Air traffic will never do that, please do some research into the purpose of a Runway, and why distance is safety. And for your reference this is a private strip, and there is no ATC.
just for reference atc does do that on the very rare occasions like at Sun and Fun and Oshkosh, but that is only two times I can ever recall being issued that instruction
People who disliked it crashed when they tried this....

Always use all of the runway, no matter the size of the ship!

Larry, is that a "tail-wind" landing?
