My father was bisexual, and he forced himself into a life of tragic denial of his true identity for no other reason than his catholic upbringing told him he was worthless because of his identity. I walked in on him when he was dressed as he thought he should be and he was so embarrassed, I cried and told him it was ok, but that didn't help him. That was my defining moment in GLBT rights.

Growing up I didn't know any gays, but my parents were friendly towards gay culture. I remember when I was 11 my mum spoke to my siblings and I about what homosexuality was and to not think anything is wrong with it. None of us are gay, but I think my mum didn't want us to be prejudice towards diverse worlds of people.
i think i was in the closet with my parents for about 2 weeks... but my coming out wasn't as nice as yours, it exploded about 24 hours after i told them, luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been as i didn't end up on the streets or dead. but it wasn't fun, though i am now extremely glad i did it.

i think i was in the closet with my parents for about 2 weeks... but my coming out wasn't as nice as yours, it exploded about 24 hours after i told them, luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been as i didn't end up on the streets or dead. but it wasn't fun, though i am now extremely glad i did it.
