Question for Beatles People: Is that acoustic guitar of John's the one that got nicked? And is this the venue where it happened? Also, is this gig where backstage John says "something deeply hurtful" to Ray Davis of The Kinks? Love to know. Priceless footage. They were a very tight band. They always put on a good show.
I don't think he means people "criticizing" the Beatles - I think he simply means music writers, which are sometimes referred to as "music critics". Like "movie critics", "food critics", etc. Thus, the word "critics" doesn't mean that they are "criticizing" the Beatles or any other group - just that they write about music. I also think his point here is that everybody has already said how great they are in a lot of different ways, so it's not worth trying to come up with a new way to say it.
Unbeatable Beatles!

What does "critics?" mean?

At 0:58 he mentions critics. Even in the Beatles heydey, this DJ tempers his introduction by mentioning critics.

The Beatles had more critics than anybody. Mostly about hair until they realized how great their music was.
