I would have been so stoned there it's not even funny I would have just been sitting there stoned on weed, hash, acid and just grooving to the music if I was alive then and I would been so happy it sucks being 16 not being able to do what you want.
what i loved most about woodstock is the just the idea that so many people were willing to drop it all and get together around peace and music. it was about everyone, not just themselves, it was bigger than that. we're so wrapped up in our own little worlds now that no such movement could ever happen, it seems. a very special time in history, not to be repeated. i only wish i was alive then, i would of done everything i could to get there.
So this august i plan to celebrate the 42nd anniversary by listening to the woodstock album and seeing if my grandson will sell me some weed...... maybe :)
Why dont all you young dudes restart the counterculture and have another woodstock, and grow you some long hair, i have had long hair since 69 and never intend to cut it. PEACE
I remember going to woodstock like just ended. I had just been sent back home from vietnam. When i got there, i had never done any type of hard drug except smoke a little pot when i was stationed in Lai Khe on an r & r or something like that. My best friend Pete Spencer had some acid and was like, Hey try some of this shit man, and i was like, Uhhh i never done acid before, but i trusted he would be there if i started freaking out. so he placed it on my tounge and 15 minutes later..... Woah!!!!
Woow man i'm jealous. i think those times and specially those 3 days were just awesome. In those times nobody cares about anything, each one just living their own trip. thanks man for the video!
I love how the tiny children are playing together on the little boardwalk. I was lucky to grow up on a summer commune with all of my family and their friends.. this scene reminds me a bit of that.. Something becoming less and less common.. while the world is shrinking, people are becoming more detached .. Where are the families in the baron parks? Where are the children playing jump rope. And no matter how big a music festival is and how hard they try to be like Woodstock, it only happened once.
I should have been a teenager in 1969! I don't do drugs and don't sleep around but I'm an activist & vegetarian so I'd have experienced all the good parts of the decade lol... without being drugfucked or diseased afterwards
I wish I was born in the 60's I mean when i told my mom she said that 60's was a bad time with drugs hippies and hyprocites. But to me the 1960's were history and i mean I LOVE THE BEATLES so the music at woodstock was beautiful to me.All they have now is stupid rap!
@PeaceX200 Your Mom Is Correct. In the 60's Civil rights did not exist, black people were n-words, Missles in Cuba, President-JFK Murdered, going to Moon,, Viet-nam and the Great Society, all at once. Beatles break up before Nixon became prez, our war was tearing the country apart,,That was the end of it all... Jimmy and Janis would be dead soon,
,,,with-in five years 5 years we would hear such tunes as disco-duck,,,go figure Woodstock Nation. it all just a dream Some of us had
Thanks for sharing!!! You are so lucky! If only I could turn back time and be there smokin a fatty with ya! LMAO! God,your so luck to have gotten the chance for such an experience!! There will never be anything like that ever again! I wish there were though!!! PEACE!
As I prepare to celebrate the 40th... I loved your 8mm footage. Was that Kesey's bus in the 'bus scene' - it looked like they 'circled the wagons' and you were right there! historic.
I am glad you liked our personal footage. We had three 8mm and Super 8 home movie cameras going and somehow managed to save all the footage, and actually remembered what we did. We drove up in my '63 Corvair, spent 5 days there, ate all our food the first night, and had a blast. Saw just about everybody and Hendrix, with just about 40,000 people on Monday morning. My favorite memory...The Who doing "Tommy" as the sun was rising in the background that morning.
To say this is awesome would be trite! Home 8 footage of the festival from those who attended, there should be a DVD compiled of just these films alone with added music from '69! TOO MUCH MAN! Thanks for uploading this!
Hey, thanks for the nice comment, Matt. I've still got some more footage that I'll be slicing into short segments and uploading.
I actually did have a soundtrack on these when I first uploaded, but YouTube nailed it as copyright violations. I guess you'll just have to hum along.
Love to see more people submitting their personal footage such as this. The original film is good but to really see it from the attendees point of view is priceless. Thanks

But I heard a rumor Paul is dead. You can tell because he's not wearing shoes while crossing the intersection on the Abbey Road LP....

All I gotta say, is that you were REALLY lucky, not only in getting there, but actually getting your perspective of the festival.
