Having listened actively to music 55 of my 58 years devoutly, this song (the one without music at all really) is so special to me. Actually the beatniks turned poem to music so she isn't the original but she has such a haunting voice & got the message renewed again in 1982.
@aderandie2 same here, it's been 10 years I've searched this song and now that I'm 20 the only clue I had to find the song was "tu tu tutu tu tututu".
i remember this song from school loved it then; but couldn't find it for ages. i used to sing it to people hoping someone would know what it was called or who it was by; and then finally i found it so so many years later. still love it now
@mathclubgirl Seems meaningless in the beginning, but it's not. Notice how everyone in her story is going about their business while she continues to watch them? But no one seems to pay her much attention or even say hello.
This is aaawesome! I remixed toms diner into an instrumental if you wanna check it out go to youtube.com/user/mikedoww and click on einstein instrumental! Holla at meee! subscribe/comment
This song was played on my school bus growing up like going to school wasn't bad enough. My ears were tortured with this God awful song YUCK!!!! OH and for any of you who are going to leave me comment on why I listened to it. It was a joke for my boyfriend because he hates this too IMAO!!!
I guess if you're going to call yourself something, though, you really should learn how to spell G-E-N-I-U-S. And it should be "friendly neighboorhood..." instead of "neighboorhood friendly..."
lol, every straight man in the world loves Suzanne Vega. Someone below me said she doesn't say thank you. I know the truth. When I met her she even embraced me. She's cool.
One of the only people who could make poetry out of lyrics instead of hormone filled accusations about boyfriends cheating and such. Love Vega. Thanks for putting this up.
i love how you cannot get that very first part out of your head."ta ta ta ta, ta ta ta ta" lol. You just have to listen to the song at least once [or more] to get it out of your head, but why would you. IT'S CATCHY!! :]
lol. "ta ta ta ta, ta ta ta ta, ta ta ta ta, ta ta ta ta" --yepp :]]
but it's much better without that music...it's suppposed to be just her voice...and there's original video to that song but i cant find it...excelent song....but have you ever heard Marketa irglova?
The song is infectious. It gets in your head and won't leave. I remember the first time I heard the introduction to this in an ad for the Nissan Maxima. It made me curious, and then I heard it on a local radio station and had a devil of a time finding out who it was and the title. Thanks for posting.
I know how u feel charlie8575, that was the first time i heard it aswell, and i spent countless days searching for this song. It's 2 catch i couldn't help it:)
I like this song, but wtf is the point of it? You keep thinking she'll say something deep or relevent, but she just keeps rambling about drinking coffee and reading the paper. I mean....she just rambles and rambles/
well actually, in the end shes supposed to say something about remembering a picnic with "you" before the rain had come, but that she had to leave to catch the train. but none of the versions seem to include the ending...
the word is, so ive read on a forum, that Mark the 45King made this remix for a friend to play on the urban-radio. Then the producers of S. Vega song stept in, snatched the remix saying Mark didnt have any rights to it tho he did the beat behind the, otherwise, plein accapella. So then they named some fictional chracters "DNA" that supposedly did this remix. So the story goes.
At any rate, if you encode it to .flv and you've just got a slideshow like this, it'll take up a lot of space; the advantage of Flash is that it only loads what it needs to and the metadata to tell it how long to hold that picture or part of the picture.
Bad audio sample rate. I'd've gone with 44.1 KHz; this sounds like it's 22.05 or less. But in any case, I think that in a video where music is the focus the audio should be the highest priority (although I do understand that it is not fun trying to upload or download with dial-up).
