  • I have this dvd. Shit kicks ass! I remember watchin them play around town when they were coming up here in "Freakville".

  • 0:04 that is a true guitarist

  • It's amazing! Come to Brazil!

  • i rlly like the energy that he has in this one

  • Jasin was the best for Shinedown.

  • There isn't a bad Shinedown song out there, but it's pretty clear their first album will always be the best one. Watching the dvd makes me miss Shinedown of old though.

  • eric bass is a way more talented performer and artist than todd, man you guys are crazy not to know this.

  • @charityfaker42 And you're a dumbass. Eric took over for Brad on bass. Zach Myers took over guitar duties.

But regardless of who took over on what, it's all fucking subjective.

I like both Zach and Eric, but neither of them really hold up for me. Eric doesn't have as much interplay in between his bass and Barry's drumming as Brad did, and Zach's guitar playing just doesn't seem as original and raw as Jasin's was. Plus, Jasin had ORGASMIC guitar tone.

  • @guitarrhythymfool brad didn even write most of the stuff that is played live now...DUMBASS.

  • @charityfaker42 I fail to see how that is relevant to my argument.

  • @guitarrhythymfool your saying that zach and eric are pretty much just doing covers of what jasin and brad did.....the music that is played in concert and on radio now/ plus sales was writin by the guys you see now..not by jasin nor brad... to say that brad is even close to eric as a musician is straight crazy just check the portfolio man....zacj stands right there with jasin as well he is just as good if not better, ur opinion vs. statistics would show you my friend are the dumbass

  • @charityfaker42 Statistics? Are you seriously trying to rank musicians using MATH?

Music is a form of art, and as such, can only be ranked based on personal opinion. Numbers of anything don't mean shit.

I never said that Zach and Eric were playing covers of the old stuff (they do play some of the old material live though), but instead saying that the way they write doesn't appeal to me as much as the way Jasin and Brad wrote, and that in the new material, Eric's interplay with Barry isn't as

  • @charityfaker42 interesting to me as the way Brad would weave in and out of matching Jasin's guitar lines to Barry's beats.

  • @charityfaker42 i agree eric is a better musician than brad but to say zach is close to jasin on any skill level or writing wise is crazy. check the whole 'us and them' album compared to 'sound of madness'. its way more musically sophisticated than 'sound of madness'. I'm not saying any of them are above the rest but as far as the sophistication of the lines, progressions, and so on, jasin was just a better writer and musician. period.

  • @Silverchairmusic correct me if im wrong here,, because im not sure... but didnt jasin write most of sound of madness??

  • @charityfaker42 Nah Brent writes the songs..but I do know that the rest of the band contributed on Sound of Madness a lot more than that had on the previous 2.

Which means, the new record will be the 1st time we will here what the new lineup brings to the table, except for Diamond Eyes..which is an amazing song. One of my favorites.Kind of funny when people say Sound of Madness sucked because of the new lineup, which in reality they had nothing to do with the record,,the original lineup did it

  • @Xfacta12482 actually, Jasin wrote parts of the Sound Of Madness, you can find versions of Devour and Sound Of Madness on YouTube with Jasin on guitar and Zach on bass, Eric and Zach weren't on SOM, it was done by studio musicians with Brent and Barry, Zach was actually the bass player originally then the 2nd guitarist with Nick Perri as lead, then he was the only guitarist, Eric was asked to help Brent write some songs for SOM, then was asked to join the band. And SOM doesn't suck, by the way.

  • @childsfan999 Thats exactly what I just said -.-. And I know..SOM is my favorite album

  • @Xfacta12482 you said that only brent writes the songs, and that the original lineup did the whole SOM... um.

  • @childsfan999 When I said Brent I was more disagreeing with the fact that he said "Jasin did most of SoM". But you and I are on the same page as far as who worked on SoM in studio. WHy are you looking to argue?

  • @Xfacta12482 OH shit haha i replied to the wrong comment, i was like 'wtf' there for a second. no i'm not looking to argue, sorry dude.

  • I miss the old shinedown, Eric got to go he just doesnt fit in, and they need to bring back Jasin and Brad and have Zach on rythem. Also Brent got to those some weight he so fat and that black jacket he weres every night makes him look bad. Not get me wronge i am the biggest shinedown fan

  • man i miss this vid! WMG took it down. thanks for the upload!

  • I dislike how they've gone 'mainstream'. And how the booted Jasin Todd, that was a crime. I really look up to him, from the first ever time i listened to Shinedown. Rest in peace to the Shinedown I loved.

  • @thisIStheARTofRUIN I feel your pain bro. i dont like it either. Leave A Whisper in my personal opinion will always be the strongest deepest album Brent Smith and Real Shinedown ever written. so many of todays shinedown fans would disagree with me because they are to wired to sound of madness that they havent heard the real shit that was stronger. LEAVE A WHISPER 4EVER!!! and Us And Them kicked ass to.

  • @ShinedownDog I agree with you to a point.

I feel the same way in that LaW was the strongest and best album SD ever put out.

    HOWEVER

SoM had some kickass songs (title track, Sin With A Grin, Son of Sam, I Own You, and Cry for Help were some amazing songs IMO).

You're still correct though that LaW was their strongest and best album.

  • @guitarrhythymfool i agree with you that those songs were great. Son Of Sam delivers a punch with a awesome deep lyrics. I Own You is awesome as well with the whole intimidation factor going on there. same with the others you have listed ETC mainly the songs on the new record that are very aggressive are great to. i guess to a certain degree they are contenders to Left Out! hahahaha :) LaW will forver be the strongest SD Record along with Us And Them being the 2nd best! SOM is ok but you know...

  • @ShinedownDog 100% agreed.

Yeah, the agressive songs on that album are the best (plus Call Me. Eric's piano playing I think is just brilliant).

It's funny you should say that they're contenders to Left Out, seeing as it's my favorite Shinedown song. So much so that, even though I find Fly From the Inside to be more fun to play, I'd rather play Left Out because fuck, I know how that shit feels, and the guitar tone on that song is just orgasmic!

  • So, i've owned every shinedown album released, and while the new one is different from the others, i can't say that Eric Bass and Zach Meyers aren't as talented as Jasin and Brad, they're just that, different. Live they're just as crazy (saw them a month ago). I think they're actually tighter as a band now.

  • Wait, the band broke up?

  • Yes and no. This shinedown that you are watching in the video is dead. the lead guitarist and bass player are gone. now they have new kids in the band and brent smith and the drummer are the only original members left. Now shinedown is your typical pop/rock band that trying to be the best in the media. a true shinedown fan only understands what i mean by when i say Real Shinedown is dead. watch the second chance or if you only knew video. and you will see what shinedown is now.

  • @ShinedownDog i agree to an extent bro. but to tell you the truth if it wasn't for brent i wouldn't listen. I love shinedown and i'm a fan and def a fan of the oringial shinedown but i guess you could say i''m a fan of brent smith.

  • @Trustrob337 im that same way to. brent smith basicly is shinedown and the way he is just is how shinedown is. its like a connection between him and just the name shinedown. im a real deep fan to the point where barely anyone could really understand. and i have been that way since the us and them record. so its been five years since i have been strongly connected to the band like that. and i still keep the songs from the first album Leave A Whisper close to my heart.

  • @ShinedownDog This is totally true. I fell in love with Shinedown on the 2005 tour when this video was recorded. I really can't stand the new bassist eric bass. I still like the new stuff, I just get sick to my stomach when this band gets dropped in the same breath as Nickelback.

  • @coffman07 amen i dont like eric bass that much either. Brad Stewert could whup his ass anyday when it comes to being a bass player.

  • @ShinedownDog Eh. When he's not all beardy and shit he actually looks really cool, and he has some THUNDEROUS tone.

But Brad's got his Spectors, and his lines on Us and Them are brilliant.

  • no, as far as i know they have a new lead guitarist and bassist...everyone else is still the same.

  • @GreatAether0 So, essentially, they overhauled half the band xD

  • @guitarrhythymfool basicly what happened was they fired Jasin Todd who is an amazing guitar player and Brad Stewert thier old bass player eventually quit the band and now both of them are playing in Feul now and doing real well. thats when these new kids came in Nick Perri and Zach Myers. Zach Myers took over as bass player for Shinedown while him and Nick Perri were helping finishing the last bits and pieces for the last album the Sound Of Madness. i have more to explain i ran out of room.

  • @ShinedownDog Perfect example to show that not only was Jasin an amazing rhythm player, but also a very tasteful, even elegant, as a lead player.

If I'd had my way, we'd see the old Shinedown back again, but with Nick Perri on guitar as well. I saw Shinedown a few years ago, when SoM had just come out. I think it was even Nick's show with the band. And I was impressed by him. He had the same kind of energy that Jasin and Brad had, and

  • @ShinedownDog when they played older songs, he seemed to approach them with a sort of respectful admiration. I can't really describe it, but it felt like he knew that the songs weren't his, and although he did make them his own in how he played (by not copying Jasin note for note adding his own flash but without making it too much, all of which I find to be a sign of respect and admiration), he also seemed to attack them with a certain sensibility. He knew the heritage of the songs, and he

  • @ShinedownDog wanted to make sure that the fans saw that in how he played.

  • @guitarrhythymfool So the new shinedown was Brent Smith (vocalist and frontman) and Barry Kirch (amazing Drummer) as the only orignal members left. After the first tour for the Sound Of Madness Nick Perri left then Zach Myers switched from Bass to Lead Guitar. then they got a guy named Eric Bass as bass player. so yeah its a real long story but thats basicly what became of the band. Shinedown unfortunately and tragically is no longer the awesome band you see in this video. :(

  • @guitarrhythymfool And as you may already know i definitely agree with you on Jasin and Brad's playing. no disrespect to new shinedown fans but Jasin and Brad simply have way more feel and passion in their music then Zach Myers and Eric Bass. The first 2 albums LaW and Us And Them perfectly explain how Jasin and Brad are musically better. Cmon look at Jasins awesome guitar solo for Lady So Divine :)

  • saw them last night, met them after the show - awesome dudes. 2nd time i've seen them live - they get better and better :D

  • It will never be the same...... It's so sad.... They were a really great band. With a bunch of great guys!! What happened to forever...??????

  • @Motherkuen get over it

  • those two "great guys" that are no longer in the band had brent on drugs with them, and brent went sober, they were kicked.

  • actually only jasin was fired by atlantic records because of his alchohol problem Brad left to be in another band i personally think that both Brad and Jasin were much more talented then Zach and Eric are i mean look at the Lady So Divine solo that Jason had on the Us And Them album...this is just my personal opinion but true Shinedown was with jasin and brad. while im glad brents sober now( i also came face to face with him in person and got a high 5 from him) i liked the old shinedown better.

  • @ShinedownDog i agree that jason and Brad were better but at least Brents still in the band, he has amazing vocals

  • @hobbes55222 Don't forget about Barry he's an awesome drummer! He's been their through it all. We love you Barry!!!!

  • right on. the new guitarist and bass player are kinda lame..

  • I love SHINEDOWN, and this is my fav. song. Its awesome!!! SHINEDOWN ROCKS!!!!

  • the mega phone is awesome XD

  • seeing these guys tomorrow

    fuckin pumped

  • these guys kick so much ass it's unbelievable. I saw them live in a small arena without any real stage effects and they still put on the greatest show i've ever seen. I was supposed to see them in a few days but the dumbasses who put the punk and crunk music festival together forgot to get security and the city canceled the show.

  • Amazing. I wish they still did this on tours.

  • man there comin to illinois next month and this is one band i have to see live. brent smith drinks magic cus his voice is to good

  • haha that megaphone part is fucking awsome

  • lmao i know

  • Does anyone know what he is saying in the end of the video?

  • man they just rock I can't stop listening 2 this song (the beginning is thaa best)

  • man this should've been a single

  • stan arrivando ad essere la mia band preferita !!! wow !!

  • shinedown is so awesome!!! favorite band ever, dont let my name fool you.

  • dude these are awesome
